To preface my brief review, I will say that I'm a predominantly online player. This is a pretty good installment of FIFA. So far, I feel like FIFA 18has slightly more crisp gameplay, but that is a game that has been through a year of patches. Hopefully FIFA 19 can reach that level. The new menus look really good, and everything seems to be pretty quick & responsive on the PS4.The graphics are pretty similar to FIFA 18, to be honest. The replays look way better due to the "fleshed out" pitch and new audience. Players are more detailed. However, most of this is lost in the typical broadcast camera while playing the game. I actually think the pitch looks slightly worse when in broadcast camera.Gameplay is pretty solid. It doesn't seem to have the issues I read ... MoreTo preface my brief review, I will say that I'm a predominantly online player. This is a pretty good installment of FIFA. It doesn't seem to have the issues I read about with FIFA 19 on the last gen, but I didn't play it so I cannot speak to this entirely. It definitely plays differently to FIFA 18. Ball control is more realistic, and you can blow by people at high pace. Passes are crisp and the animations look great. Shooting is similar to previous iterations, but there does seem to be a wider range of possible goals (you can score from more angles & positions & ranges). However, it still has the flaws of previous games. There are quite a lot of goals from corners, which is more of a minor concern. A bigger concern is the amount of "WTF" goals, commonly referred to as cluster____ goals. Way too often you'll be left wondering how on earth the ball conveniently fell to the feet of a striker when three people collided, or why two of your defenders managed to run into each other and give up a stupid goal.Ultimate team seems to be somewhat improved. They changed some minor things in how you can generate chemistry between players. They also greatly improved the search functionality for the market; you can now search for specific players.Overall, it's a pretty worthwhile pick up if you play a good amount of FIFA.I am writing this review as a walmart associate for a contest.

Well, another year, another FIFA. One of my biggest gripes with EA Sports is the similarity year in, year out, kits and players may change but you don't get a lot new... Well, it seems that way usually but with small improvements. This year they have included Champions and Europa Leagues along with the normal competitions. The graphics have improved, the gameplay is more realistic and the atmospheres stunning. Working my way through the game today and it's good. It's bloody good. Maybe the purists will find a few mistakes and things not to their liking. I for one thought it a bit unrealistic that most fans wore the same thing! Well 50 for a game that was around 30 (without the extra material) a couple of years ago, is steep for some.. especially if you buy the game year in and year out. But then consider what you are getting for your money. It works out about 1 a week. If you play it all the time, and some will, it's well worth it. They could still do more imho. Again weather conditions are limited, commentary is good, but can be repetitive occasionally. Would like to see more fouls from AI opponents, aggressive behaviour from players, commentators criticising poor refereeing decisions etc. etc. And more variety in the crowd... But then I'm a purist. I rate this 8/10. There is always room for improvement. But on the whole, very good. It certainly wipes the floor with PES in my opinion. Let's see more than 1 update throughout the year though, not just after the January transfer window. A bit more detail next year please.

Once again a poor game. Play 18 for the first time in years last year and not much different from last year except improve graphics. Do not care for the new shooting mechanics and I end up reverting back to the old one. It seems that they cannot make this game to be challenging without cheating which there is a big difference. I mainly play offline FUT mode. The game is so scripted you could pretty much tell the outcome and even the score before the game is finished. There are numerous times when I am controlling a player and I am running to go get a pass and the player runs the opposite direction briefly no apparent reason. If not that the CPU will side the player out of the way so the other team can pass it receive the ball especially when it's in the air. I don't ... MoreOnce again a poor game. I will play with a bronze team and end up playing a team full of gold & special players that rank world over mid eighties. It's sad especially when they pulled people from making Anthem to help with this game. I doubt EA will actually fix any of these issues. Maybe if we all stopped buying this game they will finally fix it. I'm pretty much done with FIFA and EA sports game. I will give PES a try.

I've been a hardcore fan of the FIFA franchise and have played and owned every game since FIFA 06. Yes, I've been playing this game for over 13 years now. FIFA 19 is revolutionary for EA Sports, because this is the first time that UEFA Champions League can be played on any FIFA game and also the first where there are multiple modes to chose from in kickoff. These modes are so much fun to play with friends and I find myself playing them almost always.PROS:- Improved Gameplay: 50/50 battles make defending more fun and realistic; Time finishing gives you more control over your shots- Excellent graphics- UEFA Champions League- Kick-off modes- Improved Story Mode: Continue the journey with Alex Hunter- FUT: FIFA Ultimate Team just got even betterCONS:- ... MoreI've been a hardcore fan of the FIFA franchise and have played and owned every game since FIFA 06. I buy FIFA every year and finally the champions league has been included in this years version. I think this has to be my favorite addition because while you could previously play in cup tournaments, or create your own tournaments, hearing the theme and seeing champions league in a FIFA game just feels long overdue. Now onto the gameplay and this year FIFA feels intentionally slower. There have been some new mechanics added to the game andso far I am not a big fan of the 50/50 system as it seems random instead of skill or rating based. I would say the user loses the vast majority of the battles no matter what player you are using.Speaking of which, the attributes too often feel useless. I would say the user loses the vast majority of the battles no matter what player you are using.Speaking of which, the attributes too often feel useless. If I play a through ball to an attacker making a run with a higher sprint rating in open space, and they are beyond the much slower defender then the defender should not catch them as often as they do. I understand that they slowed down the whole game for the sake of realism, however, a fundamental element of the game (real and video) is making intelligent runs that expose the defense with a well timed pass. This year feels slower and I am sure those who are excellent with some of the newer trick pass animations and shots will excel but overall it makes the game feel a bit less fluid to me. I also think the change in the passing mechanics so that they are less accurate is a huge mistake as far too often simple passes like through balls to open teammates or switches to the opposite side of the pitch go awry even when you are using the best passers in the game. It's still a video game and I expect precision not to mention if you watch most of the major leagues around the world, the amount of basic passes that go awry without defensive intervention is minimal.I do like the new active touch system which is fun especially on volleys but it will take some more time to truly master. The graphics from the players to the stadiums and the pitch continue to look great. The commentary also is strong with the addition of Lee Dixon and Derek Rae for the Champions league matches. The journey mode which I enjoy is supposed to represent the end of our time with Alex Hunter. I have not finished it yet but am enjoying the use of the champions league as a focus this year. I also like the ability to play as Kim and Danny a bit more this year. I do wish there were more consequences to choices you make and branching paths that change your story but hopefully this will happen in future iterations as it would also give the mode more replay value if they had more endings.Ultimate team is the cash cow so as usual it has a ton in it and can be addictive but the best method for advancing still feels like buying as many packs as humanly possible which admittedly makes it less appealing. If you bought FIFA 18, I would stick with that, otherwise this is not a bad update.
I did not enjoy the revamped gameplay mechanics of this game. The main purpose of buying a FIFA game nowadays is to be competitive in FUT. However, the adjusted settings make it extremely difficult for average players like myself to maintain control of the game. More experienced players are able to manipulate gameplay settings even more and restrict play for the average player. In the previous FIFA, the easier passing mechanics made it a more level playing field. Fortnite is another example where gameplay mechanics are constantly updated to offer a level playing field to all players. As usual, there are barely any visual improvements over FIFA 18 and the big "selling point" of this game is that it has Champions League (seriously). Also, consider the gambling inspired cash grab workings of the FUT Card Packs system before buying for someone under 18. So, in conclusion, if you are not into FUT and only play FIFA on single player or offline multiplayer settings, stick to FIFA 18.
Hang tight; this might be a long one. As the owner of a Nintendo Switch, I was very excited for FIFA 19 - especially because I would finally be able to play online. I have mostly done online friendlies and there has not been a glitch or failure to connect at all. Everything works as it should. My frustration lies with just two aspects of the game: passing and control:- The passing as a whole is very unsatisfying. It feels like you have to put extra effort into ensuring even the simplest of short-range passes are executed as you intended, AND EVEN THEN, they will miss the intended player quite often. The power on the passing is also quite finicky and more times than not will end up determining whether it goes to a player close to you or someone far away instead of ... MoreHang tight; this might be a long one. The power on the passing is also quite finicky and more times than not will end up determining whether it goes to a player close to you or someone far away instead of simply being how hard the ball is kicked.- Then, there's the control, it's very laggy and lethargic (not sure if FIFA 19 as a whole took on that approach) but the worst part of it is the ball possession. More times than not, you can be dispossessed by someone just walking into you. The ball will take the oddest of bounces off of people and it's all luck as to whether a collision will result in you winning the ball or not.Honestly, it's playable and I should be more thankful than cynical but right now, it's my love of soccer that's getting me through the frustrating nuances of the game play.
I will be the first to admit that I am not much of a soccer fan and really don’t know very much about the game at all. I am also not one to buy the next yearly iteration of a sport game series, whether I like it or not. With that being said, FIFA 11 on the PS3 was the last version of this series I have owned. Granted since FIFA 11 there have been improvements. The graphics are much better and the game has a bit more depth than my old game. For me though, I am actually quite surprised that there are not more differences or at least that I noticed from my old game. Maybe they are ok for what they are, but in comparison to some of EASports’ other efforts for other games, the tutorials seemed basic. The game does feel like soccer though, which can be a running battle back and forth with little or no scoring. The initial three games that I played to just learn, all ended up either 0-0 or 1-0, with me losing every time. For soccer fans and gamers, they will probably like this game a bit more than me. I think it is ok and because I got a deal on it price-wise (under 20 bucks), I am not dissatisfied. It will be probably my least favorite EASport game to play though.3 stars
Like my title suggests, FIFA 19 has changed in many ways that separates itself entirely from the last two games that were released. The pacing is a lot better this time around and actually resembles real life soccer. Another difference is that 19 offers slower build up and play style which was never the case for FIFA games. This actually allows the user to strategically plan an attack whereas the past games you could easily storm through the defenders and score. However, there are some issues to the pacing though, I like to say that it's like the turtle catching the rabbit, it'll take forever for you to catch up but it shows. And what's up with the obsession of bicycle kicks? Don't get me wrong they're awesome but enough is enough. And what's up with the obsession of bicycle kicks? Don't get me wrong they're awesome but enough is enough. Just because Ronaldo did it doesn't mean every single striker would also try it. And last but not least, the defending. It looks a lot harder this year but it doesn't allow the player to use dribbling skills to get past the defender. It looks like no matter what the defender will tackle you and intercept.Overall, it's a good step for EA to be making these changes to the game. I hope they patch correctly in the future. I would recommend this game as always, if you want a good time playing by yourself or with your friends. It is definitely the best looking FIFA game and it definitely shows that the game can be played slowly with strategic planning.
Every year I fight with the question of which soccer title to purchase and every year I end up purchasing both PES and FIFA. Truth be told, I usually end up playing FIFA more than PES. That deciding factor has always come down to licensing and presentation, because both titles play well. Well, that being said, FIFA again has cornered the market on the licensing, by snatching up the Champions League and also upping the ante in the presentation department. However this year, the gameplay for me feels broken. I have had several instances where goals were scored by way of animations playing out that I had no control over. Well, that being said, FIFA again has cornered the market on the licensing, by snatching up the Champions League and also upping the ante in the presentation department. However this year, the gameplay for me feels broken. I have had several instances where goals were scored by way of animations playing out that I had no control over. Madden Football has become notorious for this and now it appears to have spilled over to FIFA. This is not a good thing at all. I can give you several examples of this, but the we don't have enough time. Here is one example. The opposing team took a shot on goal and it deflected off my defender and looked good while doing so, ball physics and all. And then IT happened.....The other offensive player literally slid about 5 yards over, like on ice skates, to put himself in the perfect spot to net the goal, without the players head even tracking the ball or legs moving to run over to that spot. The play happened so fast I had to watch the replay to figure out how it was possible that the player reacted so insanely fast. And that is when I noticed that it wasn't anyone reacting or controlling the player at all, it was in fact a pre-determined animation playing out. WOW!! What a buzz kill...Up to this point, I had never witnessed this occurring in a FIFA title. It is supremely disappointing and frustrating. That was only the first occurrence of many. I have also noticed a crazy amount of players clipping through other players, the ground and their own limbs as well. It just really feels as though the FIFA development team is banking on the licensing and presentation to carry this game and have left the gameplay unfinished and broken. It's an easy decision this year for me. It's PES all the way. FIFA will be in real trouble if PES can improve on the presentation and licenses, because when it comes to realism on the Pitch....it's hands down PES. I hope this helps anyone trying to decide what title to pick up this year.
