Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster (PS4)

X2 is the game that got me into gaming.It felt like the welcoming girl power I needed to feel connected and welcome to gaming. It was like this for a few of my girlfriends as well. I loved and still love the Jpop and the cosplay options. My friends and I bonded through the music and costume making for years after. This game will always mean so much to me and the girls I played it with.X was also amazing but I played it after so I can see why so many fans were surprised. Since there isn't a Nintendo Switch version or Xbox One version, we're doing the PS4 Version. Minus the PS2 original version, they're all (generally) the same, minus graphics and branding. The Final Fantasy X HD Remaster is an amazing game to own for any part of your (J)RPG collection. The storyline still holds up after all these years. Revisiting the game after 15 years, the first noticable difference in gameplay (other than the reworked music and menu overhaul) is the choice of having a Basic Sphere Grid or an Advanced Sphere Grid. (This Sphere Grid system is essentially how you go about learning your abilities and leveling stats). Some spells were added to make some segments of the game more viable and less annoying. Incredible remaster of the original. At one point in a hut in Besaid, I was looking at a cat and I realised the cat was so beautiful I was in awe. I didn't remember even noticing this cat the first time and so I compared to the original and saw it used to be super blocky. A young, brash guy who loves sports and is a little big-headed who learns about the deeper things in life and finds love along the way, only to realise he's about to lose it all. The other characters are equally great, with shy Yuna being the kind of character you long to protect for her kindness and empathy more than anything else.FFX2 was the game that split the fans. Most hated it. I adored it. Full disclosure that I'm a woman. Yes, the mini-games in this one were a little excessive, but nobody is forced to play them. The chapter solely through spheres is a bit filled, but there is so much to love in this game. I loved the overall female centric theme, learning more about Yuna, Rikku and Paine as they make their way through a largely changed Spira. I loved the darkness as a counterpoint to the lights of this game. Seeing Yuna blossom from a shy and malleable young woman into a strong, measured woman made me feel pride like a mother's. This is a game that very much deals with the question of change. Spira's change, Yuna's change and the absence and grief leftover from the first game. I've never played a game that so perfectly balances darkness and light and this one remains up there in my favorites.As for gameplay mechanics, it's a must-play for the dress-sphere system alone. Not only are the designs stunning, the combat remains fun, quick and engaging, unlike the combat in the FF games that followed.Buy this, you won't regret it.

Along with the rogue-like Final Fantasy X/X-2, this collection will be something that just about anyone will find themselves enjoying. The first of the trio offers a great story, but is plagued by dreadful mini-games. Should you be up for a challenge then they will definitely be to your liking. However, they do not offer much in the way of replay value. You can go through the main story and find yourself pleasently satisfied. The summons and sphere grid are perhaps my favorite features though, and offer a truly extensive progression system. While I won't go into too much detail about this, it can all be very enjoyable. The second of the trio is Final Fantasy X-2 and is commonly referred to as a Final Fantasy X spin-off of Charlie's Angels. Be that as it may, this does not mean that it is a bad game. The complete lack of the mini games that plagued Final Fantasy X is perhaps it's strongest advantage. However, it brings quite a few annoying obstacles of its own, like the card game. But it offers branching story lines and multiple endings for you to enjoy. I reiterate that it is in no way an inferior game. The dress sphere grid brings the classes of old Final Fantasy in for all to enjoy and there are unique ways to unlock each and every one. The rogue-like is a great diversion at best. It even reminds me of the Pokemon Dungeon games. With all the typical rogue-like elements, you will find yourself engaged if you give it the chance. While there are quite a few suprises for you to enjoy, I won't tell you about them so you may discover them for yourself. It is a game collection that will still stand up to todays JRPGs. Finding it at a low price like I did will be the best time you've had for such a cheap and cheerful price.

Final Fantasy X is my favorite game out of the Final Fantasy franchise. Even though I love this game, I do hate a couple of its features. For instance, one, there is only a small map displayed onscreen that cannot be enlarged or seen in a separate screen. This can make it difficult sometimes to see what is ahead of your characters. And two, the camera cannot be maneuvered at a 360 degree view like other Final Fantasy games. There is no control for the camera; it is set in one position. This can be frustrating when you want to see what is around the characters when looking for things that can be missed. I never noticed how detailed Mushroom rock road was until the PS4 version.Final Fantasy X is an RGB (role playing game) and its storyline is emotional for those who become involved with the characters. Titus, the star Blitz ball player of the Zandarkand Abes, is suddenly thrust into Spira, a world a thousand years in the future of his own world. Because of Sin, the people here live without technology to atone for their sins in the hope that one day; it will stop Sin, the main protagonist, from returning and destroying everything. Soon after Titus’s arrival on Besaid Island, he meets and befriends Wakka and becomes a guardian to Yuna, a summoner, as she sets off on her pilgrimage to defeat Sin, the protagonist of the game. On this journey, their beliefs will be ripped out from under there feet and they have to adjust to a new way of thinking and finding a plan to defeat Sin. I usually cry at the end of this game when I play it because I have the tendency to get involved with my game or book characters.

Go back. Play this game. Especially if you have never played it. The battle system makes you think about old ideas in new ways.

I was told about this game and bought with zero expectations. It was a long start to get this game going. The story is linear and directs you to a point where...you cry because you cannot do New Game+ here. I casually gamed with intent to button mash creatures and be lazy. I started to question the story and ponder how to take down very challenging enemies. This was put together with voice actors, music, popular gameplay, Japanese lore, wrapped in familiar religious motifs and of course, a love story~

Good version for collectors, includes art book

This ps3 version of the remaster comes with the art book, unlike the ps4 version that has other collectibles. As for gameplay, everything is about the same and I didn't notice anything different. Graphically it is upgraded to be clearer and more colorful, but shadows and facial expressions are more realistic on the original FFX on ps2. Aside from a few nitpicks on this remaster, I can't complain much!

This is an awful product as I bought it. I bought it used. Now let's circle back.... These games are awesome. Full stop. To me they're the last of the "old school Final Fantasy" titles. The writing is solid, characters compelling, settings rich, and music, in true Final Fantasy fashion, outstanding. I would recommend ANYONE into jrpg in specific or just great games in general purchase and download this from the e-shop on your console of choice (I'm on the Switch). The hard copy, however, only comes with FFX; FFX-2 is had via download using an included code. I didn't know this when I bought my copy. The clown I bought it from mentioned it in the listing, but he didn't go out of his way to make that easy to see. He just wasn't a very good person. Its a classic

One of the best Final Fantasy's out there. Square really delivered on this title making its debut on PS2 exclusively with some ahead of its time graphics and a story that sill kicks every time you play. The combat system was slightly better than 8 and 9 with more focus on environmental tactics and puzzles. All in all this Game goes down as a timeless classic 10/10

The release contains the excellent FFX and the not so excellent FFX-2 and some additives that us in the EU didn't get. The tower climber add on for X-2 is it's own game in it's own rate and follows tradition dungeon turn based game styling and play style which makes it rather fun to play which is unexpected, as I wasn't expecting much considering the let down of X-2. The main games are everything they were back on the PS2 which is a relief they've just updated the texture and video encoding to HD making the games look even better, as X-2 in particular needed the HD update as it looked rather dated even in comparison to it's older counterpart. The audio issues where the speech is never quite in synch is still present but unless your anal about that sort of thing it's negligible. All told both games with addons prove themselves to be vastly worth the money for a trip down memory lane or to just simply enjoy them as they are, which is something I'm doing and simply ignoring the acheivements as I bought the games for the games and wasn't dissapointed. The added bonus of the art book with the limtied edition whilst small is a brilliant add on showing concept art that I have never seen before and serves well as reference material for my own artwork. There is just one thing of note if you bought it not just for the collectivity but also to use and play be forewarned that the box isn't the easiest to open. My review score 10/10
