Firestone 2535 Ride Rite Air Helper Spring

(56 reviews)

Firestone air spring systems are designed to maximize safe load carrying capacity, stability, and overall ride quality. They are designed and assembled in the USA. Ride Rite air springs use the same Firestone technology used on many heavy duty trucks, trailers, and buses on the road today. Ride-Rite air helper springs utilize a pair of convoluted air springs, which can be adjusted for changing loads. These air springs are capable of 3,200 to 5,000 lbs. of load leveling capacity. Ride-Rite air helper springs enhance the ride by reducing inter-leaf friction. Please remember that air springs do not increase the load carrying capacity of your vehicle.

I have a short bed on my 2014 F250 and had the 5th wheel hitch already installed. It was a little difficult to install the upper brackets, but otherwise everything went very well. Also installed the wireless air compressor ( newer one with visor remote )2014 Ford F250 Diesel Short bed

Easy installation good quality.

Very nice kit, I've bought these before. Was a long process to modify both the kit and truck to get proper fitment and clearance for suspension and brake lines. Excellent value, just be prepared for considerable work to get it installed. These kits should really come with the T-fitting to connect both sides together.

F150 & F250

I just recently installed a Firestone air Bag Suspension Kit on my 2016 F250 Super Duty Pickup. The first set I installed was on my 2016 Ford F-150. I can say without reservation that the quality of both sets are very excellent! It was easy to identify a much stabler ride while towing my tow behind RV trailer with the addition of these well built units. The end result is a noticeable difference in towing.

The hardest part was removing the old bump stops. Had to cut the bolts off. Putting the Air Springs on was the easy part. I add a air compressor to maintain the proper air pressure so I didnt have to keep checking. Made my 2017 Ford F 250 ride better.

Great Helper Bag Kit!

I installed the Firestone 2535 Ride-rite air springs / bags on my 2015 Ford F-350 King Ranch Dually to give extra support while towing my 17K Fifth Wheel, so far so good! I immediately notice the huge difference when loading the RV and towing. I thought I'd lose some of the comfort in my riding experience but this wasn't the case because if it appeared to rigid - all I had to do was release a little air pressure from the air-springs! I have recommended this product to Family and Friends and would do so again.2015 Ford F-350 King Ranch Dually

Instructions were a little on the cloudy side. Made install around 4.5 hours. My dad and I did it in his shop on a rack. The left side was the difficult side. Lots of brake lines that the system wasnt designed around. Still not sure what to do about the emergency brake cable to keep it off the bag. The only Igbo side went right in. Once installed, they worked as expected. Took out the sag I get with my toy hauler attaches and smoother out the ride.

Solid product, cheeped out on hardware.

Started out my life as an Air Force vehicle mechanic, so not afraid to do a DYI project. Instructions state 1.5 hour installation time, but you need to remember is under optimal conditions (vehicle lift and air tools). Did my installation in the garage using a creeper and hand tools. Plan 4-5 hours if doing it this way for the first time. I had not installed one of these kits before, so I am sure I could cut quite a bit of time out if was to do another.Biggest time suck was removing the jounce (yellow bumpers). Need a way to hold while removing the locking nut all the way off the threads. In the end, I found holding jounce with a 12" pipe wrench worked best; but still was a pain. Would adjust down until jaws were touching jounce, then took off to adjust down ... MoreStarted out my life as an Air Force vehicle mechanic, so not afraid to do a DYI project. Need a way to hold while removing the locking nut all the way off the threads. In the end, I found holding jounce with a 12" pipe wrench worked best; but still was a pain. Would adjust down until jaws were touching jounce, then took off to adjust down another turn or two and pushed back onto jounce so it would not slip.Biggest disappointment with Firestone was the hardware (nuts and bolts) included with the kit. For you DYI'er, if you don't have a torque wrench, recommend getting one; especially for suspension parts. My torque wrench is about 30 years old, so when I twisted off the first bolt that holds the upper and saddle brackets with wrench set to 30 ft lbs I thought maybe it was time for a new one. With my new digital torque I started at 15 ft lbs and stepped up by 5 ft lb increments. Between 20-25 ft lbs another bolt twisted off. Spec near the back of the instructions is 28-32 ft lbs. Ended up replacing all the hardware with stainless steel hardware and was able to meet torque specs.Overall, the installation was fairly straight forward. If I would have raised truck 4-6" (by axle to keep suspension compressed) and put on jack stands it would have made it easier to move around under truck and likely gone much quicker. Should have also laid out parts on floor instead of bed of truck where I was having to get up and down several times; finally did halfway through. I haven't pulled the 5th wheel since installing kit, but expect to have a positive experience as other reviews. If not for the hardware, I would have given this a higher rating. The concern would be hardware snapping off going down road creating a unsafe condition.2015 Ford F350

Works as described
10 April 2017

I installed the 2597 kit which is the new diesel kit. The instructions didn't match the kit exactly. On the right side, I had to move an exhaust sensor controller which was mounted where the top bracket goes. There was plenty of cable slack and I used one of the original holes to remount. On the left side, the brake cable is really tight. I bent the wire loop hanger to bend the cable around the fuel tank. Then I could wire tie the cable up to the top of the tank. It wasn't difficult to install.
