I installed two of these, and within two months of installation one starting going off in the night, for no reason. I had no choice but to disable it, which is permanent, and the alarm could no longer be used after that. Save your time and avoid this model.

Bought first First Alert CO/Smoke Detector unit due to 10 year battery life, but unit faulty after less than two years. In reponse to Bunning's replacement policy, I retuned the faulty unit and replaced it with the same new unit which only lasted for just over 12 months. I note that other buyers have experienced similar failures, so I think I will look for another type/Brand.

It sounds off false alarm after 2 years. I have 3 of these and this is the 2nd time it happens within the span of 2 years.
I bought a few of these online recently to upgrade some old ionisation type 9v battery-operated smoke only detectors of the same brand.It was pleasing that the mounting bracket either fitted exactly where the old unit was or only needed one new hole and screw in a slightly different position. The alarm itself easily attaches to the mounting bracket and self-activates on initial attachment. Although the whole alarm requires replacement when the lithium battery runs out, if it lasts close to the claimed 10 years, it will save the cost of replacing multiple batteries and be consistent with the general guidance to upgrade a smoke alarm after 10 years.My only criticism concerns the printed user's manual. I bought 3 of these. They all give false alarms, day and night. I've currently removed 2 of them as they were going off in the middle of the night. No protection if you can't even use them.
Very disappointed that Bunnings keeps c*** like this in the shelves. Unfortunately I bought in store so didn't see all the reviews. Like everyone else, lasted about 12 months then had constant false alarms.There is obviously a problem with this product, yet Bunnings keeps it in store anyways, duping unsuspecting customers. Will take my business elsewhere when I can.
We also experienced a false alarm within 12 months of purchase. Following the instructions we left it outside to 'reset' itself. It still went off outside a few days later, then another few days after that! It was clear this was NEVER going to reset so waiting for opportunity to return when lockdown ends. Very annoying.
All three of our devices failed numerous times, all three had to be uninstalled. Vacuuming was no help. So much time wasted trying to get these detectors working. Returned all three for refund.
