Best Pressure Cooker

The Fissler Vitaquick is great. This is my first pressure cooker - so I first viewed America's Test Kitchen comparisons. They did all the hard work and suggested this one. I'd say it's worth the extra money, especially if you intend to keep it and pass it on to family. My first recipe was chicken noodle soup - delicious. The Vitaquick cooked a whole chicken in 20 minutes and finished up the rest of the soup in record time.I was able to easily see the blue pop up indicator from anywhere in my kitchen. These new pressure cookers are safe to use. In my mother's day her pressure cooker was a touchy item. Thank goodness modern technology has this kitchen tool under control.I'd recommend it to my friends!

This Vitaquick Pressure Cooker is a fantastic piece of equipment. We have several other Swiss/ European mid size pressure cookers [Duromatic Kuhn Rikon & WMF] & the Vitaquick beats them hands down. We are so impressed, we bought another for our daughter. It holds pressure so much better than our other units. Cooks vegetables to perfection very quickly using half a cup of water. Bring it to pressure & turn off the heat. Viola!WANT THE BEST PRICE?? - Buy on line from Myers

Love the Fissler pressure cooker! This pressure cooker is made from very thick gauge stainless steel and feels strong. All of the food I've cooked in it comes out quick and delicious. I really like this compared to the Instant Pot - the quality is way better and I like the control I have with my own stove. If you really enjoy cooking, you will love and appreciate the Fissler pressure cookers.

Fissler pressure cooker

Quick to heat up and retains heat very well, so I can cook on low-medium heat, which is efficient. The mechanisms also click into place very securely. However one issue is that there is no gradual pressure release valve, the only valve is very fast and makes a meas. So you have to either wait a long time for it to depressurise, or press the release and deal with the mess afterwards. Otherwise, it does the job well and is easy to clean.

Great product, great service.

Pressure cookers take a bit of getting used to but once you get the knack you won't want to live without one. Stews and braises that normally take hours can be done in a quarter of the time. Fissler pressure cookers are top of the range - not cheap but will last a lifetime. Just replace the gasket every few years.Myer has really upped their online game in the past couple of years and I cannot fault their systems or delivery.

High quality and very efficient

The Fissler heats fast and even and uses very little energy to keep food at optimum pressure for fast cooking. The lowest setting on my smallest burner cooked a 5 lb roast perfectly in under 45 minutes once it was brought up to pressure using my largest burner. Releases very little steam during cooking as well, keeping flavor in. I've always liked my stainless Presto pressure cooker very much which was about a quarter the price of the Fissler, but in 30 years of pressure cooking, this one is the finest I've used.

Love This Kitchen Addition

Great addition to any kitchen. Once you read the instruction and use it once it's fairly easy to get the hang of. Food cooks beautifully and vitamins are retained in this cooking method. Not to mention the amount of time saved in cooking your usually slow cook recipes. Highly recommend.

I went with a Fissler stovetop because they will last a lifetime and unlike an electric plug in model, I don't have to worry about the computer component or electric element fizzling out on me in under a year. A stove top is a much more durable and prudent. I value quality and craftsmanship. The Fissler is the Mercedes Benz of Pressure cookers. Stove top pressure cookers are faster than electric too. Cooks Illustrated did NOT recommend nor did they like the electric pressure cookers at all.I use my Fissler Vitaquick 8 quart pressure cooker twice a day, 6 times each week and I have had it for a few months now. I put vegetable oil on the gaskets after washing as per the instructions. My Fissler Vitaquick pressure cooker is hands down my absolute favorite cooking pot in my kitchen! It is worth every penny! It is an investment but one well worth it and one I would make again in a heartbeat! I saved for 3 months so I could purchase this with cash. I can't believe I just discovered the joy of pressure cooking! My 12 quart All Clad Stock pot now lives in my garage gathering dust. My household is comprised of my husband and myself only. I would NOT recommend purchasing anything smaller than an 8 quart. I got the America's Test Kitchen Pressure cooker cookbook and I love all the recipes which are designed for the 8 quart. I have made the rib recipe 4 times now. Everything from their cookbook turns out perfect! The 8 quart Fissler Vitaquick comes up to pressure in about 3-4 minutes at sea level. Remember depending on what you are cooking you can only fill a pressure cooker 1/2 or 2/3rds full. So the bigger 8 quart size is more flexible and very versatile. Cooks Illustrated and America's Test Kitchen gave the Fissler Vitaquick 8 quart pressure cooker the highest praise and the only HIGHLY RECOMMENDED position out of all they tested. I have trusted their reviews for 20 years and never been disappointed when I purchase their highly recommended products. But I have been let down a few times when I purchase their "budget or best buy" options. That said, I also purchased the recommended "economy" best buy Fagor Duo 8 quart. I compared them in my home and decided to return the Fagor Duo. It had too many flaws. I will compare and contrast and list them below. Why I love my Fissler. First, the pressure indicator button is very large and easy to see from my living room or any place in my kitchen. I can easily see when or if my pot falls below high pressure. While the Fagor Duo's pressure indicator is so short only 1/8th of an inch and I can NOT see it unless I stand right next to the stove. The Fagor Duo is noisy. It hisses and spits liquid. I ran a water test with both models. I put 2 cups of water into both 8 quarts and then measured the remaining water after 10 minutes under high pressure. The Fagor Duo lost 1/2 a cup of water from venting steam while under high pressure. In contrast, the Fissler still had exactly 2 cups of water! The Fissler does not hiss or spit like the Fagor. The Fissler is quiet and doesn't leak smells or steam while under pressure, like the Fagor Duo does. My Fissler responds perfectly on my emergency single burner butane Gas stove. I turn it to high to bring it to pressure and then lower it to low to maintain pressure and the pressure is steady as a ROCK! I don't have to babysit it at all! However, I mainly use my Fissler on my electric stove unless our power goes out. (Our power goes out about 3 times a month). Now, to use my Fissler on my electric stove requires one simple adjustment. I bring my Fissler to high pressure over medium high heat and then I transfer it to a preheated second burner that is on medium low or medium heat. Why? Because electric stoves respond very, very, very, very slowly to heat adjustments. Gas responds immediately to heat adjustments. In my next house I will have gas. It is still easy to use a pressure cooker on an electric stove.Once I transfer the pot to the cooler burner, I do dishes for 3-4 minutes. I glance over at the stove to check that the pressure cooker ring is still on high pressure. If the pressure drops I just raise the temperature on the stove a notch or two. And then the Fissler will maintain high pressure, steady as a ROCK. After that, I do NOT ever need to adjust it again or babysit my pot on my electric stove. I set a timer and continue to clean my kitchen up or vacuum or do laundry or watch TV.However, with the Fagor Duo model, I can NOT do dishes while I wait 3-4 minutes to see if the heat needs one final adjustment because I can NOT see if the indicator on the Fagor Duo drops or not, unless I stand over the pot and check it. That is one reason I don't like the Fagor and I love my Fissler, because the Fissler has a much larger and easier to see pressure indicator. It is a big deal !Another place the Fissler has the clear advantage is it's thick 1/2 inch plus, encapsulated heating core. While the Fagor Duo's core is under 1/4th of an inch. I measured them with my sewing tape. My Fissler does not burn my food! The Fagor Duo heats up much more quickly because the metal is thinner and lighter and it tends to scorch even water! The walls of the Fissler are thicker than the Fagor as well. My Fissler is a bit heavier than the Fagor due to better thicker quality stainless steel. The Fissler maintains pressure solid as a rock and I don't have to worry about burning my food. I love it. You can't pry it out of my hands.Lastly, another reason I returned my Fagor Duo was because I did 2 separate water tests with 2 cups of water to check the seals before moving on to cooking food. The manual says a minimum of 1 1/4 cup liquid is needed for 10 minutes. I used 2 1/2 cups to be safe. After 10 minutes of the water test, I opened the Fagor Duo and it had a ring of brown spots about 2 inches up from the base. The metal discolored and burned! I did the same test a second time on the Fagor and even more brown spots appeared! The quality of the stainless steel in the Fagor Duo is very questionable. I do not recommend the Fagor Duo pressure cooker. But I do HIGHLY RECOMMEND the FISSLER VITAQUICK 8 quart pressure cooker. I did the same water seal test on my Fissler and it passed with flying colors. It is constructed with far superior grade stainless steel and thicker walls, and a thicker disk encapsulated core bottom and a much better pressure indicator that is easy to see from far distances. One more point, the Fissler Vitaquick pressure cooker is very, very easy to clean up using a sponge and Bar Keeper's friend if you clean it up as soon as you are finished cooking. It is recommended that you use Bar Keeper's friend for stainless steel and a soft sponge. The moment I am done cooking, I pour off all the food into a serving container and I wash my pot right away. I am a bit of a clean freak. I don't leave dishes for later and I do dishes while food cooks on my stove top. So I am a hardcore multi-tasker.I hope this review helps you. I seriously can not recommend the Fissler Vitaquick 8 quart pressure cooker highly enough. You'll never pry this out of my hands!

The perfect pressure cooker.

Love my Fissler Vitaquick 8.5 Pressure Cooker. So efficient and easily can bring up to pressure. You can easily see if your needs are high or low pressure. It is quiet and can easily hear the pressure cooker rising. I wish I had this pressure cooker 40 years ago while raising 3 boys with all their demanding food needs. We are just the 2 of us and find it fun to make something in half the time. The cooker is very well made with SS smooth and remains very shiny and clean looking, nothing like the old aluminum cooker. The top fits perfectly and locks easily and after releasing the pressure. I love this cooker! Thank you for making a great product.
