I had a previous Fitbit Aria scale (different version than this one) that finally failed on me after many years, so I needed a new scale. I was bummed to see that Fitbit no longer offers the previous version because I liked the feature which measured body fat % (this new scale does not do that). This new scale isn't bad. I like that it connects quickly via blue-tooth because I hated having to re-connect my old scale to the wifi repeatedly (it always seemed to drop the network). However, you need to weigh yourself with your phone nearby to collect your weight data since the scale won't save it.This scale also had widely varying measurements for my weight from day-to-day after first starting to use it (I couldn't possibly be gaining/losing 10 pounds each day), but ... MoreI had a previous Fitbit Aria scale (different version than this one) that finally failed on me after many years, so I needed a new scale. No, this scale is in no way worth it. I bought it because I got the Sense 2 which I absolutely love, but this scale is worthless.Paired to my app on Day 1, on day 2 it wasn't sending the info the the app, no sync happening. I unpaired and restarted the process, it worked after spending 10 minutes fiddling around. Used it that day and once more a few days later. Those two times worked "ok"This morning I tried it again, still no sync and honestly annoyed with it enough to give up. This really is a "featureless but good looking scale" that'll set you back 80$. I'm returning the item, getting a cheap scale that works as it should, I'll just input my weight manually in the app.The scale doesn't do anything more than show your weight. I loved my Aria but I am unable to connect this dinosaur to my new internet.Thought this was going to be an upgrade from that ... Aria Air is a downgrade.I now have to have my phone with me to attempt to upload my weight. (The Aria just uploaded my weight automatically without having to have my phone with me and the Fitbit app open). Most of the time, the weight won't load so I end up manually inputting it anyway.I cannot get a consistent weight. I can step on this scale 10 times and get different results every time. It's only been 3 days and I am ready to return it.Fitbit (or now Google) .... please come out with an upgrade from the Aria or go back to the basics... that is a great scale!

It's really accurate; I tested it with some dumbbells abd it was spot on. The SYNCING to your phone is horrible and frustrating. I routinely go into app settings, force stop, and clear cache before I even get on the thing. I just stepped on it and it kept feeding my phone my weight from the last time I stepped on it which was 2 months ago and twelve pounds heavier. It took me about 15 times of climbing on and off the scale to figure out how to make this thing take my weight at all without entering it manually. I pressed the plus symbol in the upper right corner and for some reason it added my weight automatically and CORRECTLY. This fix (or bug!) my correct itself in the future, but for now it's a scale still in beta. I went into my local Best Buy just looking for a digital scale, nothing fancy, didn't need anything "smart." However they only had two scales in stock. This one from FitBit, and another one that was far more expensive from Garmin. So I asked the guy at the store if I *needed* a FitBit to use this scale. The answer is no. You can use it as a standalone scale or with the FitBit app, which is free. I thought that was pretty cool, that I could track my weight loss (or more recently weight gain) on the app just by having the app open when I step on the scale. It's actually why I eventually did buy a FitBit. I think if you don't need the app integration you can probably just find a digital scale elsewhere for cheaper, but if you're looking to get the bigger picture of ... MoreI went into my local Best Buy just looking for a digital scale, nothing fancy, didn't need anything "smart." Fitbit dominates the fitness market for a reason, and this scale reflects the sleek, elegant design of their products. Fitbit's goal of being ingenious yet accessible is much better realized with the Aria Air scale (2019) than the older Aria 2 (2018). This scale is light, low profile, compact, and boasts a bright backlit display. There is a strong tempered glass finish on top and an overall minimal design. It pairs with the Fitbit app to provide a visual record of your weight over time, which was actually more motivating than I thought it would be. Even if this is your only Fitbit product, like it is with me, the technology puts it a bit ahead of other scales in the ever-broadening designer scale market. There are essentially no directions, other than downloading the app. You have to dig into the app a bit to find the option to pair a scale, make sure your Bluetooth is on, then step on the scale. If all goes well, which it usually does, a screen pops up showing your weight. It doesn't automatically save your weight, so be sure to tap the save button in the top right corner of your device screen, which isn't obvious at first. This scale doesn't do body composition measurements, like body fat or body water percentages. You can tell such scales as there will typically be conductor pads on the scale surface to send a bit of electricity through you. This is unfortunate, as this is a capability even much cheaper off-brand scales often have. Note that 'BMI', which is mentioned in the description of this product, is just a person's weight in kilograms divided by his or her height in meters squared. So someone with a lot of body fat could have the same BMI as a weight lifter. I have never seen the BMI measurement, and the app has never asked for my height. This scale also doesn't pair with wi-fi, which necessitates your having to have the app and Bluetooth on to catch your readings. Personally I consider this an advantage over the older Aria 2 which was wi-fi based, as apparently the Aria 2 was very difficult to set up and my only wi-fi is from my phone as a hotspot. The scale uses three included AAA batteries, which is also unfortunate as nowadays it should have its own rechargeable power. You may have some difficulty finding this item in the store. It's not with the other scales, but buried in the electronics department behind locked glass with other Fitbit products. I recommend buying online anyway as the one I first bought in the store had the directions for the Aria 2, and I could not get it paired with my phone. One last thing. This scale is quite expensive compared to other scales, particularly for not doing body composition, and I've never seen it on sale. For me it was still worth it.
If you are like me and was looking for a compatible replacement for your old Fitbit Aria scale, you will be disappointed. I'm sorry, this scale is no comparison to the previous model. I don't know what encouraged Fitbit to go in this direction, but they will have some unhappy customers, including me. Now, the scale does it's job, but no where near it's predecessor. This scale does one thing, take you weight and send it to the Fitbit app and then you have to press the save button. Everything was automatic with the old model and it measured your BMI. Not this model.
I've tried many "bathroom weights" with Bluetooth and other features besides weight measuring, for equal and higher price. This one is by far the most accurate due to self-levelling, so no matter the surface the weight is put on, measurements are unbelievably accurate. For fat/muscle/water measurement, nothing else but a trained, hands on, professional will be close to accurate, so other reviews mentioning these features are actually inappropriate. Syncing weight with FitBit app took only about 100 seconds of slight confusion. Weight has a sturdy feel to it, both under use and handling.
This scale does NOT sync to my app no matter what. The first ever use went smoothly, the weigh in popped up on my fitbit app all by itself. The next day I went to use it and nothing would sync. Placed my phone literally on the floor next to it and nothing. Closed the app, opened it again, nothing. So I manually input my weight and went about my day. Two days later still having the same problem except suddenly, my weigh in shows up on the app, except it's not the weight showing on the scale, but the weigh in from the previous morning. As far as scale capabilities, it does its job, it's pretty sensitive which I like because it shows changes down to the decimal. But if I wanted a regular scale I could buy a cheaper one for max 20 bucks that does the same thing. ... MoreThis scale does NOT sync to my app no matter what.
