Just received this and took it out on a walk with my dog. It fits perfectly. I'm 6', 172lbs, so I went with a size medium. I was able to wear a t-shirt and felt perfectly warm (the temp was 41 degrees). If it was any cooler, I might think about adding an additional layer, but right now I'm not sure if I need one. My only complaint is that, having just received it, one of the stitches had already popped off or was never properly sewn in. Nevertheless, I don't think that detracts from the quality of the jacket. I guess time will tell though. All in all, I'm very happy with my purchase.

I am 5'10", 180lbs. Slim athletic build. 36 yrs as an outdoor enthusiast. Rural letter carrier in the midwest for 27 yrs. I take my clothing choices seriously. When combined with a mid layer 850 puffer & puffer hat, it has been glorious in freedom of movement/warmth/abrasion resistance down to -27°f. Fleece lined high collar works well with hood down. Double zipper zips upwards for access when hiking/camping without indoor public restrooms available. Comfort with confidence in extreme cold is priceless.

I have always been hesitant to join the puffy trend, but now that I live in a colder climate I can see their merit. I did a lot of research and tried many competitors before landing on this Fjallraven. The Patagonia is also really nice, but more expensive, less durable feeling, and I don't like the boxy fit. This jacket may have a slightly worse weight-to-heat ratio than its competitors, but for a non-technical use case I think the trade-off of better durability and features is well worth it. It had a really lovely build quality and fits my frame perfectly. The leather drawstring cinches are a little weird and clumsy at first, but they do add a nice stylistic flair. I have a feeling I'll be wearing this piece for many years.

I had the opportunity to try this jacket on and found that it fit snug - too snug for my shoulders.I am 5" 9" 182 lbs., 74 years of age more or less and have a 44" chest and very big and wide shoulders - I suppose from my gymnastic days in my earlier years.I tried on and bought the XL, the Large being just too snug, and although a tad big in the waist, the draw strings solve that problem. The sleeve length of the XL is perfect for me (regular arm length) and the overall the fit is similar to my Large Patagonia and Regular wear North Face. North Face Summit series also required me to by a an XL where in their regular line a Large is plenty.I am not fat, but I am solid and Since getting it I have worn it every day. North Face Summit series also required me to by a an XL where in their regular line a Large is plenty.I am not fat, but I am solid and Since getting it I have worn it every day. The coldest it has been in Peterborough, Ontario this winter is -10 C and with something lighter than a Covert Cardigan underneath I am warm enough for my daily 5km power walk - not sure I would wear it with a short sleeve T-shirt in -10 C weather though. The Arc'teryx Covert Cardigan fits under it just fine, but I find the pair too warm. When it is windy, cloudy and perhaps a tad icy, I switch to my Mountain Hardware Parka or Patagonia Fitzroy Parka which I usually reserve for -15C to -25C weather but that has yet to come, but it will.I recommend this jacket at the reduced price but think the regular price is a tad steep. Not sure it is good value, while on the other hand it is clearly one of the best looking jackets I have or have seen - period. The Black can look almost like a deep Navy blue - it does not look like TNF or Patagonia Black or any other black down jacket I own of which I likely have too many.Overall a great jacket and IF you have the money would recommend for temperatures in the +5 C to -10C winter weather. It is warm and has more loft than I expected closer to an 800 fill than the stated 600 - more like 700. I hope this helps possible buyers
Very comfortable and warm jacket. I have worn this all fall and winter here in Indiana. I've found it perfect by-itself down to about 15-20 Celsius. Any colder and I use a sweater underneath. Not too heavy, not too light. High-quality, just a pleasure to wear.love the hood ... a real blessing in the wind. Not a fan of the dual zipper (sorry Europe), but it's not a deal breaker by any means.
I was hunting for this jacket to go on sale for a while and it finally did! It's just arrived and I love the quality of the fabric, the design of the hood and the looks of it. The fit however runs a little large, which I found surprising as it is contrary to what most people report. I am a 6'1", slender male, and I look like a bag of potatoes in a size M. I will have to drive up to REI store in person to try on a small. Hopefully it will fit better and not be too short. With this experience I qould recommend that you try it on before purchasing, if possible. Also, the color is much darker (navy) than the photos on the website. It's the middle of the summer here in Poconos so I haven't had an opportunity to test it in the field, but when I put it on in a 60 degree ... MoreI was hunting for this jacket to go on sale for a while and it finally did! It's the middle of the summer here in Poconos so I haven't had an opportunity to test it in the field, but when I put it on in a 60 degree air conditioned room I could feel instant heat. It's very light weight, I don't think you will feel that it is heavier than other ultra light offerings on the market, and the benefit of the heavier fabric will be welcomed around the camp site. Overall it was definitely worth the wait. I'm very happy with my purchase. I don't think I would want to pay the full price for it though. 300 bucks is a little steep, especially when patagonia down hoodie is often on sale. So either wait for it to go on sale, or explore other discounted options.
This jacket has been excellent to put over a light sweater on cool days. I also see this as being great for layering in the winter (probably up to -10 to -15 degrees). Very breathable, yet warm and lightweight.Fits to size. You may want to size up if you plan on layering big sweaters underneath.Quality is superb, as expected from Fjallraven. Overall, very happy with this purchase!
I'm 5'10", ~205lbs. I wear 35" length dress shirts. 42" chest.I've had medium in the past for fjallraven jacket, sweater in the past but after seeing some reviews, I went with the Large. When I got it, the chest and shoulders are fine. A good amount of space to layer under if I wanted. The length of arms seems somewhat longer than expected but with the elastic cuffs, it was fine and didn't look or feel too out of place. What felt out of place was the length and subsequently the placement of hand pockets. I don't know if it was because the Large was too large for me but the jacket felt like a semi-parka length. It went past my hip. And when I sit inside my car seat and put my seatbelt, and if there is anything in my pocket like a large cellphone, the seatbelt goes ... MoreI'm 5'10", ~205lbs. So uncomfortable, I have to empty my pockets everytime. So I'm not really sure if it's the style or I just got 1 size too much. Even though everything was perfect 3xceot the length for me.
Love this jacket - it's now a staple in my pack whenever I'm venturing into the mountains. It's incredibly warm, and the 700-fill does a great job with a warmth-to-weight ratio. Love the small attention to detail with a fleece-lined collar. Pockets are huge. I haven't tested the hood out with any helmets, but it seems like it can handle a climbing helmet fine. The internal stuff pocket is a revelation - it's beyond easy to stuff into it's pocket and zip away. There's also a loop if you wanted to clip it off a harness or a pack. It doesn't stuff down too small (little smaller than a 32oz Nalgene), but that convenience cannot be understated. It very quickly regains it's form after being taken out too.I'm 5'11, 170, and a M fits great. It's definitely on the "puffier" side, which does make layering it a bit more of a challenge compared to other down jackets, but I haven't had any issues under my more true-to-size M hardshells.
This is my third fjallraven jacket cuz they're just that good. I'd say my favorite jacket is actually the Latt hooded puffer just because of the versatility (you can wash it easily!) And it's a bit of a lower profile. But the pack down jacket is phenomenal as well for when I'm less active. My only complaint is the yellow drawstrings for the hood contrasted against the white stops that keep them in place. The yellow looks great with all the fabrics, but with the white stopper thingies, they look like sunny side eggs. Sorry if you can't now unsee itBuy this is you want something super soft and warm, especially with a wool sweater underneath it, but buy the Latt if you want something that can get wet and it typically a better choice if you're being active.
