Best Purse Replacement
To stay active during the pandemic, I have been taking walks in nature, biking, and hiking like it's my job throughout Upstate, NY. My purse was cumbersome and weighed one shoulder down on all my adventures. I have a Deuter day pack, which is great for bigger hikes, but feels bulky on a two-five mile walk. So I decided to get a backpack big enough for a water bottle, an extra layer, my wallet, maybe a book, and a snack. After reading and watching lots of reviews, I settled on the Fjallraven Kanken Mini. First of all, I love the company--they value long-lasting products and sustainability. Since it arrived a few weeks ago, I have done a several fairly strenuous hikes, biked 12 miles (on a super hot day), taken numerous long walks, and visited the grocery store a few times. The bag is the perfect size for all the things I wanted to cary. It's very light weight and though it says it's water repellant, it sure seems waterproof to me. When it's not raining, I fold back the rain guard on the zipper so it's easier to get in and out quickly. There are a few things I might change about the bag to make it absolutely perfect. The outside pockets are the perfect size for a phone and a granola bar, but my water bottle needs to go in the main compartment. It would be great to make at least one of the outside pockets large enough for even a small water bottle, but it's not the biggest deal. I'd also add velcro or a zipper to those side pockets. On a few occasions, I've leaned over and my phone slipped out. Lastly, on the straps, there is a hard spot near the snaps that get caught on my clothes. I know they sell covers for the straps, but it would be nice to either include those, or smooth down that part of the strap so they are not necessary. All in all, I adore this bag and hope to have it for many years to come!... Cute and functional
Absolutely love this tiny little bag. It holds my tomtoc 11inch tablet case/iPad pro 11inch to the T and my iPhone perfectly in the side pocket. I keep my wallet in the front pouch for easy access and the main pocket still fits a thin jacket which is all I really need in my usual day to day. Only complaint is the straps kind of hurt so i got the Kanken mini shoulder straps to alleviate that issue so now it’s nothing but perfect and adorable! Def recommend and is such a great gift to a loved one.... Show more

Great Everyday Pack
I hate carrying a purse so I bought my first mini kanken 4 years ago. Sadly it was on its last legs after many many miles (zipper was worn out), so it was an easy decision to order a new one. It’s great for daily use, short hikes and travel. It easily holds two wallets, two phones, and a bunch of other stuff. The seat pad is handy, too. It may be for kids but this big kid loves it.This colour combo is very cool, too.... Show more

Incredible
At first when looking at this product, I figured that the normal sized Kånken would be better. After looking at reviews, I decided to purchase the Mini Kånken Royal Purple Backpack. I loved it. The size is perfect and fits anything for a day in the town. The Royal Purple shade is very cute and fits with any outfit. It is cute and fashionable. The reason I love the mini is that it fits more things than you can see. I can fit my phone, wallet, hand sanitizer, water bottle, snacks (just in case), hair ties, chapstick, and even a small note pad and pen. The straps were quite hard to adjust and the instructions that it comes with to adjust the straps aren't the best. But overall, this product is amazing.... Show more

Nice little backpack that holds a lot. Versatile yet stylish
Got this for everyday use to replace my purse. Surprisingly it can hold all my daily essentials - wallet, a 16 oz Klean Kanteen, some snack, keys, scarf, mask etc. a great purse replacement that allows my hands to be free to do other things. Probably would be great to have a one or two more compartments but the bag main compartment is easy to access so i can always find what I need easily (easier than a purse) without need to dig and find. Would be nice if the two side pockets have some form of elastic or stretchy materials as they can’t hold much other than a cell phone , packages of Kleenex or something relatively flat. Overall, great size! Durable and solid workmanship.... Show more

Obsessed
I love this bag. It’s a cult favorite for a reason. It came quickly too and on sale was irresistible. The photos of this color on the website (and not just on Moosejaw) look grey but it is in fact blue like the description. I actually like the color even more. Highly recommend buying anything from Moosejaw. I got covid once before our big camping trip and they helped out and refunded us the rentals. Will buy again !... Show more

Perfect not-purse
I originally bought the larger kånken when I got one of these backpacks and while it absolutely has its uses I get more use out of the little guy. Perfectly fits a water bottle, snacks, wallet, phone, my planner, and a sketchbook. Not a ton of extra space but it’s perfect for just running around and doing errands. Super comfortable straps and just an all around great backpack. If I forgo the planner and sketchbook I’ve even successfully gotten phone, wallet, keys, water bottle, and spare work shoes in this little guy. The square shape is surprisingly spacious.I will say though with the rest of my style, especially in the summer I give off very Boy Scout vibes as this bag does have very short straps so it sits exactly in the middle of my back. Roomier than you'd think
I have several Kanken backpacks in different sizes. I have started to carry the Mini Kanken full-time as my work bag and my Everyday. This is due to the great design and the ease of carry .The Mini as you can see holds a good amount of essentials. I use pouches in it to stay organized. I remove the seat cushions in my minis to make room the back pocket. That back pocket keeps my full size journal and pencil case. The main compartment holds my makeup, wallet, coin case, Rx pouch, and water bottle and snack bars. I am a teacher and I like a rugged bag that can take being put on the floor by my desk, or tossed in the car for a quick errand, or hauled with all my stuff to a staff meeting. On field trips it is unbeatable - hands are free. On my frame the straps are ... MoreI have several Kanken backpacks in different sizes. I am 5'9 180 lbs.I recently bought this Re-Kanken to support my efforts at being greener, and because I appreciate the embroidered tonal emblem in place of the bright red- on- cream patch of the other models. It looks more "grown up" and I feel I can take it into places without looking like I'm carrying a student's backpack. The fabric of the Re-Kanken is softer than the waxed canvas models, and the color Dark Olive is a beautiful shade of brown- an olive brown to be sure, not green.I am very happy I purchased this Kanken and recommend it with no reservation.... So cute but too small
I ordered this for my toddler who is 3 years old and sadly I had to return as it wasn’t practical for what we intended. Wanted it for snacks and his little things to carry around as we don’t need a big diaper bag for him now. But even just a few things filled up this bag fast! The front pocket is useless as we were only able to fit one snack bar in there, couldn’t even fit his hand wipes in there. His small water bottle doesn’t fit on the side pockets either. Lastly, the bag is very stiff and the zipper is a little hard for even myself to open and close. Maybe with time it would get better but we need this bag right now and found it best to return. The best thing about this bag is the aesthetic- we got the color sky blue and it’s more of a muted grey/blue in person. ...
