I really wanted to love this product after seeing a friend with a very similar style to this. The fit is good from my perspective, unfortunately the fabric started to pill horribly after a few wears which was exacerbated after washing for the 1st time (cold water machine wash, line dry). Was really hoping this product would last a long time, similar to the LL Bean equivalent mentioned by another reviewer and also the style my friend has/uses. However, the fabric leaves some concerns about how long this garment will last, and it will show strong pilling until that point.

Ive used this year round, at camp, fishing, in the city, and at work. Its such a useful layer that i end up using both of mine year round. I always have one with me when I travel, since its such a comfy layer in flight, easy to pack and looks good to boot. Highly recommended. I dont normally write reviews but felt this shirt was worth it and bought another color to rotate wear.

Who doesn't love the flannel thrown over a tee look? I love it, but sometimes a flannel isn't enough, especially working at my desk in the early morning or on chilly days. This layer is perfect to stay warm while keeping an appropriate look. Bought this for my son who is 61 and 170 slim build we ordered size Large. He likes it a lot and wears it all the time. He uses it to throw on to do chores, hiking or just around the house on cold mornings. He has 3 fjord flannel shirts size large also. What he has noticed is this is tight under the arms or shoulder area when lifting his arms. It fits everywhere else and would be too big if he went up a size. His fjord flannel shirts in the same size large, have more room in the shoulder under arm area then this shirt jacket has. My daughter has the same jacket in Womens and it also has the same issue in the underarm area. This is the first piece of Patagonia gear I've ever owned that is a straight up loser. The fit is way too small and very weird, the fabric is not great, I bought the brown version which looks like brown and black on the site and is actually brown and navy blue. This is just an overall bad piece. LL Bean makes a comparable product that is much better. Can't believe I am this disappointed in a piece of Patagonia gear, I own other Fjord Flannels that are staples and I straight up wear them until they are totally destroyed. At 6ft 200lbs with Broad shoulders and chest no size fits me properly. The Large would be good if I didnt feel like the Shoulders were gonna rip upon moving my arms. The shoulders fit me in the XL BUT the torso is gigantic. If it fit me Id give it 5 stars. High quality, good warmth, and nice finish otherwise. If it fits you well then definitely buy this.

I assumed I would wear the same in the insulated flannel, boy way I wrong. It was so tight in the shoulders I couldn’t drive my car comfortably. Luckily Patagonia has IMO the best customer service out their. They took it back with zero questions and sent me the bigger size the same day. They get 8 stars for their customer service!!!! My recommendation would be for the awesome Patagonia team to start a Athletic line for those men and women who don’t exactly line up with the slim 6 foot models that can wear a medium in their shirts. Overall I do love it, and I will probably buy another one in a different pattern even though it doesn’t fit correctly. It is super warm when you are outside and still breaths well enough that you stay comfortable while wearing in doors! I'm 5'8" and 175lbs with an athletic build - I bought a medium. The sizing is near perfect, with the arms and chest just a touch snug. That said, despite wearing this over a flannel, I can feel the amazing comfort and warmth. This is a go-to item for the fall and any time the temperatures aren't frigid. Just like any Patagonia product, it seems to well-made and looks good.
This shirt/jacket is incredible. I get a ton of compliments when I wear this to work, so it looks great. It keeps me warm even on cold days without a coat. It has deep side pockets to hold whatever needs holding (including my cold hands!). It fits perfectly, like it was tailored just for me. 10/10 would shirt again.
