Flair Espresso Maker
This item is a showroom demo. It has barely been used. The Classic is Flair’s original espresso machine. First launched in 2016, it’s portable, durable, easy to maintain, and completely manual. It’s the machine for those of us who want to pursue the perfect espresso shot without all the extra gadgets helping us out. A manual machine takes more effort to use but makes the espresso that much sweeter when you manage to (literally) pull the perfect shot. Flair shook up the espresso industry when they introduced the Classic in 2016. Manual espresso machines are not a new invention, but innovations like the removable brew group and excellent pricing set Flair apart. The Flair Classic is a completely manual machine. As the original entry for Flair machines, its 2-in-1 portafilter gives you the opportunity for an easier shot in its spouted configuration or lets you gain insight into the extraction process with the bottomless portafilter configuration. The Classic is also modular. Its brew head can be upgraded with an optional pressure gauge kit or used with the Neo’s flow control brew head (for when you don’t have access to a high-quality espresso grinder or freshly roasted beans). New models of the Classic (recognizable by the removable brew head adapter ring), can even use the more advanced Pro Brew Head, a larger, stainless steel brew head that comes standard with a pressure gauge.

A regular user of the V60 and aeropress, I'm new to brewing espresso. Pulling a successful shot took a few (messy) attempts, after grinding too fine, choking the shots, and causing some backpressure which needed releasing. But after getting the grind size ballpark it's very easy to use. My scales are slightly too big to fit in between the base plate which is moderately inconvenient. I thought I had small scales but apparently they need to be even smaller to be compatible. And without the additional pressure gauge it's also taken a few attempts to get a proper feel of how hard and fast to pull. It also feels as though the included tamper is slightly too small to tamp effectively, probably to encourage you to buy their additional tamper, as well as the other upgrade ... I have been roasting coffee since 2008. I have had a Nespresso since 2010 and I loved it. I recently started watching James Hoffmann's YouTube and I have learned a lot about brewing coffee but I finally decided that I wanted to try espresso. I took what he said, that espresso is a hobby, I watched a lot of videos about espresso then videos about the Flair Classic then I started making espresso with it. So far, I love it. It really isn't that much work to setup and the espresso is great. It took a lot of practice and wasting a lot of coffee to get everything "dialed in" but I think that I am now ready to learn how to do this and it's a lot of fun.

I've been wanting an espresso maker for a long time but have hesitated because the machines are expensive and they don't let you control the variables that let you make the perfect cup. The Flair Classic solves both problems - it's very affordable and it lets me tinker with everything from grind size to water temperature. The only problem so far is that my current electric grinder doesn't make a fine enough grind for espresso, and I couldn't create the puck properly to get enough pressure to make true espresso. We've found a workaround until I can get a proper grinder. The one thing that could be improved is a more prominent list of things to consider before purchasing an espresso maker, with one of those being an appropriate grinder.Overall, I'm very happy. I love my espresso machine. The Flair Classic makes amazing espresso. There are a number of little things that will make this machine even better. It is very difficult to fill the exact amount of water. The plastic tamper (little plastic container) does not fit the porta filter. I would love to experiment with smaller amounts of coffee. A metal screen which would fit inside the portafilter on top of the coffee grounds might be useful in this regard. I experimented with paper coffee filter rounds under the coffee grounds. It adds a nice resistance at to end of the pull and improves the crema.
Really pleased with the espresso shots the Flair Classic pulls. It required some trial and error and a different grinder. I had an decent burr grinder (Bravatza Encore) but it wasn’t quite getting the grounds fine enough to establish enough pressure even on the lowest setting. I picked up a Timemore Chestnut C2 manual burr grinder and that has made a world of difference. Splurged a little for the tiny tamper and I don’t regret it. Using this with a frothing kettle makes for nice at-home cappuccinos. Materials of the Classic seem well-made. Metal parts like the brew chamber and the tamper are nicely machined. Can’t speak to longevity of the parts or seals yet as I’ve only had it a month but so far, so good.
I bought this machine hoping I could brew a great espresso every morning also can save the disposable coffee pods from dumping into landfill. It turns out I need to buy “a great quality coffee grinder” just to have a perfect coarseness for the Flair, if you own one shouldn’t be a problem. Then you should have a coffee scale to weigh a perfect coffee beans. Not talk about the preparation for the brew process just yet. You need to pre-heat, weigh and ground coffee beans, brew it at the right bar and don’t forget to warm your milk if you like white coffee. So far Flair is a fantastic espresso maker once you get every box ticked as making a nice cup of espresso is not an easy-peasy stuff. Recommend to any one who familiar to manual making espresso and have time to prep ... This was the perfect intro to at home espresso. I was looking for a decent espresso machine that didn’t exceed $200. I didn’t want to buy a cheap automatic espresso machine just to fit that price point since cheap machines wear out quicker and usually result in lower quality products. The flair classic is a high end manual espresso press. It feels nice to use and once you get a process it’s pleasant to take the time to do it right albeit a little slower than an automatic machine. I can’t recommend this enough to someone looking for something inexpensive and high quality.
This was my first time ordering from Cafune and because I’ve never heard of your company I was worried I was going to regret ordering an “open box” unit.I now know you guys are an amazing company and I’ve already recommended the Flair Classic and your amazing company to my family WhatsApp group. I was so impressed with the super fast delivery and then I was blown away with the attention to detail and that personal Thank you note that Aly put in the package…You’re Welcome!I will be using this mostly on our boat and I’m sure this will bring a lot of attention at the marina. Of course I will be recommending everyone to order from you. Keep up the great work!I’m now ordering the pressure gauge too.
I decided to order from Cafune because CAD price on the Flair website was too much. And I’m so glad I did!!! It was delivered quickly and Alyssa even arranged a hand written note in the package + a free sample bag of coffee! The best customer service I’ve ever encountered from an online store. This espresso maker is perfect for someone who’s looking for an upgrade of their coffee. It’s easy to use, beautiful, and pretty compact. 10/10👍🏻
Lots of moving parts with the Flair Espresso maker, but it is a great tool for espresso fanatics and those looking to get in on this craft from the entry-level. I appreciate the sturdiness of this product including stainless steel parts and an overall well-thought-out design. It’s easy to set up, clean, and pack. The carrying case is excellent for those that are constantly on the move. The accessories that come with the machine (tamp, portafilter, and filling funnel) are made from quality materials and can withstand daily use. Overall, I would recommend this machine to those looking to improve their espresso-making craft.
