I love the OpenWrt. I did have an issue after I let it go through the firmware upgrade process, it wouldn't let me go to the wireless settings, but I just did a firmware reset easily in there and it's been perfectly fine since. 8 got this based on seeing reviews for the Flint 2, but found the first one to be more than enough for me, so went with this. I like having more control over my network, the web interface is just as easy to use as any other routers I've used from the big guys, so no issues there, and it does something no router I ever had did, allow for scheduled restarts (though I turn off everything when I'm gone for work out of habit), because like anything with circuit boards and memory, a restart is needed from time to time. It doesn't get as hot as one ... MoreI love the OpenWrt. It doesn't get as hot as one certain brand of routers (start with L) that I have experience with, so that's good. Ad guard, OpenVPN support, and wireguard if you're interested (I only have adguard enabled). If there is one downside, might be not having the typical lights associated with is the wifi transmitting, is there an internet connection found, and the lights for when computer directly connected into one of the 4 Lan ports, it's just one light in the center when on. But that's minor to me, as long as my devices connect, it's fine. I haven't had it long yet, but it's working well.

You know, 10 Yrs it is a lot of time specially for technology. Replacing my then top of the line $150+ router with the Flint I can immediately tell the difference handle multiple devices, multiple features and interface so much easier to use.The only thing I’ve found a bit annoying and perhaps buggy is the speed limiter interface, just confusing and isn’t as straight-up as you would think it would be… but so far I’m very happy with the leap of faith on this new brand.

Excellent piece of equipment. Small lightweight fully packed. The downsides is constant wifi drops when schedules are enabled, missing on/off/restart button therefore have to unplug wire, got it soft bricked twice so I guess it can be more stable, main settings windows times out frequently, wifi speed are on the slow side for wifi6, firmware updates have no notification that have been completed. The pros: it has a lot of options, simple menu, adguard home enabled, easy to set vpn, cheap. If issues get fixed the next version of Flint will be my next primary router for sure. Now it's serving as secondary for ease of mind

First time router buyer. Very easy for plug and use. Settings were easy to adjust for WiFi security. WiFi range was hugely increased compared to ISP provided router. Down/upload speeds were also increased slightly at all ranges, and greatly increased at further distances. The mobile app was very useful however the only way I could set up my VPN (PIA) through wireguard was through the mobile app and not through router settings.Highly highly recommend
Love it.My first entry to home networking. Been a very pleasant and enjoyable experience.Speeds are great and the quality of the product is superb for the price :)
The idea of this router is good. The implementation is mediocre. It seems unstable on wifi in the 2.4Ghz band, it has moments when it disappears, it is also a bit weak. In the speed tests with the router in the same room, it rarely reaches 100Mb/s and the manufacturer promises 600Mb/s. I have NO pretensions to go with 600Mb/s, but I think a 300Mb/s would have been possible. On 5Ghz with the router in the same room it reaches 600-700Mb/s and the manufacturer promises 1200Mb/s. Kind of weak. With the rotor in another room, the tests would come out even worse. In the end, in the same room is no longer justified, just plug in the cable and that's it. I had problems with WiFi, the 2 networks did not appear in the configuration menu and I could not configure them. I had to connect to the router via SSH with PuTTy to manually write some commands for the WiFi to work. Missing On / Off button, for this it must be unplugged. In the AdGuard application I added some filters and it gave a syntax error. It was completely blocked, I had to give it a factory reset and take it from 0 with the settings. Also, Adguard does not block everything, only partially. And the menu had changed, it was writing other things than normally the names of those tabs. On the computer, the Brave browser really laughs at everything. This router is not for an ordinary user, that is, plug it in and let it go. I do not recommend. It is for someone with minimal knowledge and who is willing to mess with a router asfet or someone who does not know what to buy.
This router works well. Be sure to upgrade to the latest firmware (v 4.1.0 as of now) or you might be disappointed. The hardware is very nice (lots of cpu and ram, etc) for the price. Performance is solid. Power use (about 5W idle) and heat are very decent.GL.inet build of OpenWRT has a decent interface and bundles some nice features like OpenVPN and Wireguard support. Nerds can still login and/or use OpenWRT packages and/or Interface (but be careful). Again, be sure to upgrade to the latest firmware.A few small negatives although only the most discerning user is likely to notice or care. Not a lot of extra hardware lights or buttons or ports. Not 100% perfect but fairly close and a very good price for this class of hardware.Bought 2 units and both arrived quickly and work well. Give it a try if it looks like a good fit for your needs and budget.
I love it. Might be better routers out there that do VPN server/client but this thing is super easy to use and for the price you can hardly beat it. Kinda wish I would have saved more and got the flint 2, but still no real regrets here.
Bought this to replace an older tp-link wifi6 router so that I can have a WireGuard VPN setup at home. The range seems to be similar to tp-link but it was so easy to setup the VPN server. Within minutes I had a Beryl connect to my home network for a travel VPN setup. Good investment!
