I waited a few months before writing this review because I didn’t want to base my experience just on first impression. While this light is pricey, I still believe it’s worth the peace of mind and saves me headaches. I was previously using a hygger light for only a year before I started having multiple problems with it from the functionality to the actual build quality failing as months passed. This Fluval 3.0 light is built very sturdy, very sleek, and is BRIGHT. I love that I could easily program it with the app and just let it do its job. The app’s interface could use a lot of improvements, but otherwise, it does what it says and I’ve had no issues with it. Firstly I had this a few weeks now and wow its good I have a 5ft by 2ft by 30inch 830lt sumped trop tank and I was sceptical that a 3 inch thick light would light it up well but my god its like the sun in pure light. So far I’m liking this light. It’s quite an upgrade from my old florescent hood. It’s lightweight and sleek, but not flimsy. Has a low profile look. I love being able to connect with Bluetooth and having the daily light cycle instead of just off and on. I had to remove it from my timer power strip though because any interruption of power causes the program to turn off and need to be reset. I would prefer if the sunset and sunrise feature also had some appropriate color variation like some other high tech lights, but it does do a good job with the brightness gradation. The overall color tone of the lights can be changed but the app doesn’t really allow you to play around with the color settings without the light flashing off and back on, disturbing the fish. I like the form factor. Very sleek, compact and solid. I like the connectivity and ease of use with the app. Its almost plug and play. I like the full spectrum leds. It can pearl your plants if added with another light. I dont like the weak intensity of the light. Even at max, the aquarium looks like a blackwater setup. It will need another light to complete it. Almost perfect but disappointing.

There are others that do a good job too- I've had my 24in Finnex 24/7CC for probably 8 years now and it's a great light too. I can't get the colors out of my plants that I would like or lush "carpets" though, so wanted something with more intensity this time around.
This light is amazing and worth every penny!On the "planted tank" setting it gives an amazing, richly warm light, a far cry from the cheap chinese knock-offs you can purchase on amazon for about 50-60 quid less. It's definitely worth the investment, the build is high quality (aluminium), IP67 water resistant and works wonderfully in a tall aquarium like mine (Fluval Roma125).It was also the only light that FVluval reps said to be a fit replacement for the default light that comes in the Roma125 kit (which was way too weak, sadly).Highly recommend this light for anyone with a heavily planted aquarium!
It’s pretty cool. Still don’t know all it can do and all it does but it makes the tank look great and the plants and fish seem quite healthy. It’s nice that it does it all itself and that I can make adjustments using the app right from my phone. The weight in the middle does cause it to droop a bit and it almost rests on the middle Aquarium cross bar. Making it get very warm to almost hot. Needs middle support if you ask me. Needs to run cooler. Also I did accidentally buy the one smaller than the one for a 55 gallon. But seeing the cost kept me where I’m at for now lol. Great light. Would recommend.

It was an easy set up, less than 5 minutes and there’s a great “how to” video on YouTube. I’ve never liked turning on bright lights in the morning, my fish freak out when I do - and it can’t be good for the albinos. Now it’s a gradual exposure, they emulate a natural habitat with a sunrise, daytime, sunset and nighttime. Once you set it up, you don’t have to bother again with the lights. You can “name “ your lights allowing you to control more than one set of lights with your smartphone if you’re like me with multiple tanks.
