I have this filter a few sizes up on my Oscar tank. It's quiet. Has not leaked in the 8 months I have had it up and running. Maintenance is a breeze, I really like how easy it is to access each type of filter media. Having the biological media allows me to do larger water changes without affecting the fish.

This is the best filter I've tried. I bought the C2 for my 15 gallon tank and the water is crystal clear. It is so quiet plus you can turn up/down the flow of water. I have Platys so I keep the water flow low (less current). I had previously tried the Fluval underwater filter but it failed after one week. I ended up going to petsmart to buy a Marineland filter with the wheel but returned it due to the noise and water splashing everywhere.

I have used Marineland biowheel, Aquaclear, Aquatech and Tera Whisper but this Fluval C series is the bet filter. It is very quiet, you only hear the waterfall slightly, it has a flow rate adjuster. The price of this C2 is great for such a awesome filter. If you like Aquaclear then you will love this one. I haven't tried the Seachem Tidal filters yet so far Fluval C is the best filter, try you won't be disappointed.

I have been through Tetra's Penn Flex's filters and finally wised up and did research on the best filter. I trusted the other 2 because I had success with them before. Every current review I did, for filters 30 gal and down said Fluval was, by far the best. They weren't lying. My other filters I had to clean about every 2 weeks. I have 4 tanks so this was getting old. Since I have bought these, they are still running like I just set them up. In fact, they run better than those other 2 when the other 2 were brand new! I never heard of this company, before I did research, but they have a new customer, for sure!!
This is the third Fluval C3 I have purchased over the years for my 20 gal tank. These filters are quiet, keep the water real clean and are easy to clean when necessary. Supplies (pads and filters) are not expensive. I would not have any other filter for my tank.
Very nice kit, comes with everything needed to be up and running in 5 minutes. Instructions are easy to use, pump runs very quiet, and price is great.
First I put a sponge from Fluval edge pre-filter on the intake. Prefect fit don't settle for cheaper or other knock offs even longer time and results in a more refined pre biofilter. I have a 10 gallon so it is set on low, or now. with some manipulation of slim foam pads for cushioning from minute vibration directed to the glass and rim of the tank. even a small chunk of rubber for the leveling part. a tad of Vaseline on the shaft and O-ring and i replaced the carbon with matrix from Seachem. Positioning the lid correctly results in a quiet non vibrating or loud operation. I sleep next to it all i hear is the ambient water quietly pouring in smoothly, It's been smooth ever since the first priming of pump. I got a 2.3w 5v 220 liter/hr inline pump I am going to squeeze the 1/2 tubing on the side of the telescoping intake where it first comes in when its set set on high the output will still be as low as 10gal flow, as the intake sucking out of the top of the filter where it first comes in will divert through an-inline UV 3watt passing though thermo-electric Chiller and finally out putting in the old Aquaclear 10 HOB filter with that pump removed. I squoze in a Ehiem filter from a skimmer perfect fit in the intake to direct flow as I flipped the upholster and added the rest of the Seachem matrix and added Fluval Biomax to both filters along with the c-nodes staked in the compartment more towards the top with the nice trickle rain simulating effects and aerobic help with breakdown and the result. Beautiful. Clear water, I even got Purigen and haven't used it yet, planted, not fully completed cured cycled tank but good added Seachem Stability and Dr Tim's one and only nitrifying solution., but still so freaking clear. It came chipped from shipping the downpour part was easily superglued with advanced hobby glue.
The impeller is noisey replaced it and same thing one month later noisey again . will use it in living room . cant sleep when its in my bedroom tank . would expect more from so high priced filter. Been using a marineland bio wheel for 2 years no problems at have the price. What do you expect made in china. When will we stop buying junk from china.
Bought Flugal C3 from Walmart. Set it up and filter works good but very noisey.Called Fluval and was told defective to exchange it at Wal-Mart.com. New one arrives and noisier then first.Again called Fluval and guy on line laughed when told about second being worse with the noise problem.His solution was again return to Wal-Mart and buy from a known pet store. So there telling me all there quiet filters are sent only to pet stores ? No way. There impellers are garbage. Filter does decent job but the rattle noise will drive you crazy.
This filter is a great design, but my filter failed within two weeks. The waterflow stopped and the motor got very hot. I pulled it out and disassembled it and put everything back together and plugged it in. The motor and impeller spun, but when I put the tubing back down on the impeller mount, it stopped. I pulled it out a bit and the impeller started to spin again, but it would not prime. So I pushed it back down a hair and it primed and operated for a few days, but quit again. I think there is a design flaw where the tubing meets the impeller and if it pushes on the impeller the motor is not powerful enough to keep the impeller spinning. I like the overall design of this filter, but if I try another one and it fails, this C3 filter will be regarded as a total ... MoreThis filter is a great design, but my filter failed within two weeks.
