I have owned this product in the larger tank size for about two years, although this tank is mainly constructed for looks it is somewhat complicated to maintain. Within a year and a half the internal lights had been coated in algae and burnt out, sadly the light mechanism is built into the motor so in order to fix the problem you are required to replace the entire motor system. There is no warranty for this within this time frame and the cost to replace a new motor is approximately 45$. Other then this the only other problem is that the tank has no lid and requires a water bottle or two at least once a week as a top up on the water. Beautiful fish tank - but wasn't fully thought through on functionality .

We have this sitting on my wife's desk with a betta, mystery snail and an oto catfish. We lose about half an inch of water per day with the lid in place. But this is a problem that isn't uncommon with any rimless tank, it's simply made a bit worse because of the filter running water outside of the aquarium itself.You could do a cheap auto top-off, or you can just deal and keep a gallon jug of water nearby for topping off.As for the filter? It's OK for a single fish. If you have a load of anything higher, I'd suggest adding additional filtration.

After 6 years the light switch had broken and the clip holding the filter chamber closed had cracked off. So I purchased a second tank but it arrived with a broken light switch. I returned it and purchased another brand. The switches on these tanks are notorious for being short lived and because the filter and light are one unit, you have to replace the whole thing which costs nearly as much as an entire new tank. Nice fish tank, poor design.

This is really a sharp little aquarium to have. It looks beautiful on my desk here at my office. The only drawback is I feel a supplementary filter is needed to keep the water healthy and crystal clear for my fish. I have also made room for a small heater as well. Price wise?? I feel your simply paying for the name and a concept. But isn't that really what life is like in our Western world :) Overall, I am happy with my purchase and would do so again.
