I have to do my grocery shopping every 2 weeks because it's a 2.5 hour drive to the nearest reasonably priced supermarket. I needed a way to keep my fruit and vegetables fresh longer. The Foodsaver is the best kitchen gadget I have bought in a long time. It keeps perishables fresh for much longer than expected and really does prevent frozen food from icing up and getting freezer burn. The hand held device is also great for resealing the ziplock bags. Definitely money well spent.

As a working mum with a young family and a child with multiple food allergies, organising what to cook each night can be a long processes. This is a great piece of kit with some great features. It feels solid and is pretty simple, so easy to keep clean. Set up was good, I really like the little cord hole thing at the back which will make storage easier. Loading the bag roll was also easy, no small parts that tend to break and make these things useless, just simple and straight forward.When using it was quieter than I was imagining considering it is a vacuum pump, and you didn’t have to run the machine long to get the desired result. Brought as an upgrade replacement for another brand, which had worn out due to lots of home use. So far found it to be really good, as all the features are great, and have performed well. We especially like the roll storage, cutter, and liquid tray. It will be interesting to compare the longevity and performance of this more expensive item, with our previous, as our purchase was heavily influenced by online reviews.
Have been looking at these for a while and then this one came up on sale. It's a great little machine, and even though it's a bit more expensive than some of the others, it has the drip tray which is great when you are sealing wet food. The tray comes out for easy cleaning. The machine functions really well and is so easy to use ... even husbands can do it!

Everything was recycled cardboard and paper that was easily disposed of in the compost, recycling or green waste rubbish. Some kudos there to Sunbeam.Once out of the packaging I was a bit disappointed in the size of the Foodsaver. While I like the idea of storing the Foodsaver vacuum roll inside the unit it has made it a bigger unit that's a little more difficult to store.Once I got to using the Foodsaver I was suitably impressed. The instructions were clear and easy to follow and the use of the Foodsaver itself was straight forward with the roll and built in cutter. Chicken, mince, curry and even enchiladas all worked well and I have used the rolls and bags for various items in the fridge and freezer.One thing I will point out to new users like myself, take care to set up with plenty of bench space in front of the Foodsaver when dealing any food. I was having difficulty with the vacuum leaking and pumping poorly where I had packages hanging down in front of the Foodsaver. Pushing it back on the bench and having the packages flat was much better.Finally my other issue is the external vacuum unit for the containers and reusable/ziplock bags. Terrible fitting, flimsy hose and awkward use really detracted from my overall happiness with the Foodsaver. With the pump attachment it is on the opposite side to the controls, the little plug in attachment to the Foodsaver never stayed in properly so I really felt like I needed 3 hands to make this work. On the plus side, when it worked it was excellent.

I purchased the more expensive option thinking that it would be more effective than the basic model I had previously and was disappointed to see that it didn'tproduce a tightly vacuumed pouch. It wasn't terrible, but just didn't take more than 60% of the air out. I also noticed that the sealing was a bit hit and miss. I assumed user error and asked a friend who also has one to take a turn with mine and he claimed that his was the same.

I live alone and like to cook bulk meals for later in the week so this product is a great addition to my kitchen. It is compact, quick to use and a much needed solution to successfully and safely freezing surplus meat!The food is sealed well and the bags contains a section for recording the contents and date of each package so you won't be wondering how long they have been stored. It also allows you to cut the bags to whatever size you require so you can seal some fruit for work or a leg of lamb without wasting excess packaging.It did take me a couple of minutes to figure out how to work the machine but once I understood the process it was easy. The vacuum seal is a little noisy but only lasts a few seconds.Overall I would recommend this product.
