Founders of Gloomhaven is a competitive tile-placement, action-selection, city-building game in which each player controls a fantastical race working to build the city of Gloomhaven and gain influence over its residents. This is a standalone game set in the same universe as Gloomhaven. The events, however, take place hundreds of years before Gloomhaven and depict the original construction of the city. In Founders of Gloomhaven, players use action cards to place resource buildings on the map of the city, use these resources to create more advanced resources, then deliver them to proposed building sites to earn prestige. An individual player, however, cannot do everything on their own because they can import only a small number of resource types, depending on their race. To create more advanced resources, they have to work with other players. The game also features an auction mechanism in which players vote periodically to determine which new building proposals come out and where they are placed on the board. This game is very much worth the money, wonderful co-op game (can also be played solo) hours and hours of entertainment.
Seemingly underrated because of its association with the original Gloomhaven, Founders is an entirely different game based around resource control and building. Every decision is weight in the game, no turn is a throwaway. It is absolutely a brain-burner and takes some time to learn well enough to play smoothly, but in my opinion it is worth the time. Elements of city-building, tile-laying, worker-placement, hand-management, bidding and voting.
I haven't played it yet, but it got excellent reviews and was on sale at a great price, so I bought it.Plus, I'm a completist and I have all the other Gloomhavens, so yeah.

There's no review I could provide that would be as useful or comprehensive as others out there (I particularly recommend the Shut Up and Sit Down review which does an excellent job of highlighting the best and worst of the game). That said I've played a bunch of 2 player games and I'm getting started on a 4 player campaign and it's a truly exceptional experience. That said if you're not the kind of person who enjoys watching long reviews or reading length manuals this won't be for you. Nothing in the game is overly complicated but there is a LOT to bear in mind at any given time and if you're used to more family friendly games this will be super daunting. Well constructed and thought out cooperative fantasy (many different) board game. Does take a good 4ft square space for all the stuff and 30-40 mins initial set up.
Price for a game was suprisingly good! It came in a perfect condition. Game guide has 50 pages but as you will go through that, game will keep you entertained for hours. If you are fan of RPG games, you will be really satisfied, as it covers almost everything that every RPG has.
Fantastic - quick dispatch, exactly as stated, great game. Ideal for family life under lockdown - who doesn't feel like clearing a crypt of monsters?
hubby loves it, there was only a slight dent on the box, if it didn't say in description you wouldn't notice.
