After a bad fall wrecked my hands for almost a month I wanted to try something with a little padding. The gloves fit nice and I like the way the cuff is very low on the wrist. Unfortunately they came apart after just a few rides over a couple weeks. The stitching on the pads has started coming undone and now the gel inserts are falling out on the palm. I just reordered a pair of the regular ranger gloves to replace them.

I purchased these gloves at REI almost exactly one year ago in July 2023. I really enjoy the fit, feel, grip, and the amount of padding for use with a full suspension mtn bike. However, the rubber and Velcro fabric on the Fox wrist tab separated on the left hand glove. I glued & stitched the elements back together to keep the gloves going. And now the fabrics on the right hand glove tab have separated, so I am in the market for new gloves. Maybe I ran them through the clothes washer too much to get the funk out? I did not find these gloves to be consistently touch screen compatible with my iPhone; I have a screen protector/case which adds another layer.

While they were easy enough to get on (fit was fine), I find it an ongoing challenge to get the velcro closure fastened. The patch is so small and tricky to stretch it to where I can fasten it. In a moderate amount of use there are holes forming in the end of the forefinger and thumb so that I will soon need to replace them. They are not lasting nearly as long as previous gloves I have had, and the premature wear is disappointing. The comfort when wearing them and riding with them is fine.I wear gloves to keep my hands from getting scraped up when I fall; the material on these gloves is pretty thin and it doesn't seem it would provide much protection. Not sure if the gel pads are meant to provide palm protection in a fall, or provide padding against the handlebars ... MoreWhile they were easy enough to get on (fit was fine), I find it an ongoing challenge to get the velcro closure fastened. Very comfortable and sizing chart was accurate. Has provided improved grip and control while riding rougher terrain. Has performed well so far. I would highly recommend if you are in the market for a pair of gloves while MTB.
Big FOX fan here, and for good reason. Avid mountain biker for decades, and their quality and design always impresses. The Ranger gel gloves fit true to size and provide just enough cushioning to reduce the numbness caused by long technical rides. Being able to work your phone’s touch screen with the special finger tip fibers is a big plus, too. No doubt I’ll be buying them again as soon as I ware these out, which typically takes a couple seasons to do.
I have bought these gloves twice. The thumb and Pointer finger on each glove are touch screen stitched . I like that because the coating doesn’t come off . Where the stitching stays in place. I live in South Carolina so these gloves actually breath pretty well and dry pretty quickly. Wish they had more padding on the pincky finger for branches or if your harmed is slipping . The pads are placed into n great spots for me.
Why Fox!? The old generation of the ranger gel gloves were my favorite. Great fit and very durable (Lasted me 2 years). I recently got a new pair and am super disappointed. The materials used feel a lot less durable and my palm is already starting to show wear after 5 rides! I will be looking elsewhere for my next pair of riding gloves.
I have used a lot of different gloves - I bought these for mountain biking. These gloves are good but the material seems just a little bit thin however, after about 100 miles of aggressive riding in the woods, they have held up without any problems so, maybe the material is tougher than I thought. These gloves are comfortable and grippy. I wear large and these fit great. The hook-loop closure works well even though it's a small contact patch. Overall, I'm happy with these gloves and they seem to be a good value.
Picked these up on impulse looking for other stuff in the store. They're understated, but not to generic. Medium fit is tight, but its a good feeling fit. I only have 2 rides on them and so far, so good. They have decent padding and grip is good. And, they aren't showing any wear or rough stitches. Watching the Velcro since that's always the weakest link on cycling gloves. Happy with purchase.
Womens large sizing = mens small in Fox gloves which is useful if you want a different colour choice which I did. Good fit across my hands and fingers. The metal strips for smart phone use do work but it's erratic and in an odd location. It's far easier to take the glove off and type. One downstream is the velcro strap is short. Could have done with being slightly longer when putting on with a gloved hand. Value for money. Padding in all the right places. Very satisfied.
