Bought the shorts at a 36 and were too big and wanted to exchange for a 34. Fox don’t do exchanges and had to send back for refund. There were no free returns even if you just wanted another size. They recommend sending parcel back as traced, which cost £13, and then I have to wait potentially 6 weeks for the refund. The parcel has to get sent back to the Netherlands which I thinks misleading as I’m sure it say fox racing uk on the url for a refund! In the meantime I had to spend another £75 for a 34. Don’t get me wrong I love the shorts that I bought but currently I’m down £163 for one pair of shorts and waiting for a refund which might take 6 weeks. Seen others have the same issue as people trying to flog on Facebook marketplace rather than sending back and then ... MoreBought the shorts at a 36 and were too big and wanted to exchange for a 34. Having bought my first pair of Ranger shorts in 2014, of which are finally showing signs of needing replacement (fabric is becoming threadbare in the area where the saddle makes contact). The shorts from 2014 had a zippered cargo pocket AND a cargo pocket secured by velcro, as well as two hand pockets. This new style of Ranger seems to be ok. Down to one zippered pocket and two hand pockets. Comfortable to wear, and sizing matches the last pair I owned. The adjustment straps are shoddy at best. The OG chamois that was included on the 2014 set was LEAGUES better than this new EVO chamois that is included. Some unfortunate 'updates' from previous versions.

Great fit, comfortable-as. Fox attaches the liner to the shorts with a small "cut me" ribbon.. So I did that (basically, you're buying a Fox shorts & liners combo - so you can decide to wear both or one?). My old bike shorts were permanently stitched together as on unit, so this is different and still good. Decent padding for plums too!

Had a Fox Ranger short from 2016 and loved them so much I bought another pair at the time. Unfortunately this version doesn't live up to my other pairs. They changed the adjustable belt to a cinch rather than a velcro which is good, but moved it to the outside so it doesn't hold, making it useless. Fewer and smaller pockets than my older pairs make this short less useful in a variety of situations. The fabric feels lighter and more breathable. Time will tell regarding durability. Overall these are good enough to not return but I won't be enthusiastically buying another pair like I did with this short a few years ago.
Perfect fit. Inner padded shorts are a great bonus. These alone would cost about 20 quid. So with that in mind they are great value. They have an adjustable strap too to make them tighter if you find them loose. Great short. All I will buy from now on.
Based on good reviews from Gear Lab and other sites, I got a pair of these from Altitude. Although the material in the shorts was really nice and stretchy, the waistband was not at all stretchy. You can set the waist, but once it's set that's it. For cycling where I'm bending and straightening up both while riding and getting on and off the bike, I found this to be limiting, but other people might not. Now for the review about Altitude. Great service, no problem returning these shorts. Worth being a member with service like this.
I own two older models of this short that fit me perfectly. I'm 5'10" 145lbs, cyclist build. I don't like baggy clothes. Fox just went with the trend of Fattening America and seemingly just sized up across the line. Size Sm that used to fit me perfectly now just fits like all the garbage enduro-brah stuff out there. Waist is bigger and inseam is longer. Returning... the search continues. Also really don't like that the waist adjustment is external and visible. Adds an additional element of cheapness to the product. Previous models had internal velcro size fitment. I didn't notice that in the pics when ordering the black color.
Great quality as you'd expect from Fox, and perfect for hitting the trails on your bike.Adjustable waist band which is handy, and the removable padded inners offer much needed cushioning for those long and bump rides.Highly recommended these.
Love the short length just above the knee caps and fitted legs, the fabric is stretchy and light and it breaths great during hot rides. The big downside is the waist, for some reason they use an additional black fabric, a sort of mesh lining the waist, that it's not elastic at all, it has zero give.I'm a skinny 28" and the short fits well, but when I'm moving around on the bike and because there's no zipper on the fly and it just have a single snap button, it snaps open everytime I expand my abdomen! If the waist was made of the main elastic fabric only, it would have some give and it would be fine, but it's not. So make sure the size you choose is slightly larger, otherwise if you choose the exact size, you might have the same problem I have.
To say that I was underwhelmed by these shorts would be an epic understatement. These are some of the most poorly designed mountain biker shorts I've ever tried. The first is issues is these are longer than described in Backcountry's listing.Secondly, the liner short is laughably weak for a short of this price, with thin chamois that isn't very effective at tamping vibration, and the waistband lack sufficient elasticity to keep them up when you ride. They also lack compression in the legs. The outer short portion is even more poorly designed, with a too slim (vertically) waistband and the cinch straps don't stay where you adjust, loosening constantly while you ride, leaving you having to frequently pull the shorts back up and re-cinch them - the adjustment straps ... MoreTo say that I was underwhelmed by these shorts would be an epic understatement.
