This is a really good shoe and fits true to size. Admitedly not quite as grippy as the FiveTens, but still a nice stiff sole and grip compund. The BOA dials are amazing; I would love to see these on more flat shoes in the future! Note that this shoe does have a cutout for clipless cleats in the sole; I am not sure if they make anything to cover that up either.

Since first trying the Union Clipless shoes, the Union's have become my favorite riding shoes yet. I accidentally got my clipless pair water logged which led to some smelliness so I replaced them with these BOA's and am extremely happy with them. Kind of surprised about how convenient and comfortable the BOA mechanism is over the strap and laces of the Union Clipless. I'm able to tailor where the pressure and tightness is on my foot with the BOA mechanism, they're easy to get in and out of, and they're lightweight with tons of space at the toe. BIG, BIG fan of the Fox Union shoes... In fact, I now have 4 pairs of them in different configurations for different types of riding.

I bought the lace version and was a little dissatisfied with the sloppy fit from the laces. These definitely take care of that issue. You may feel these shoes fit narrower but remember shoes feel different when actually seated/standing, pedaling your feet are not the same as walking and so a slimmer shoe may end up feeling better while biking. And when I put my insoles with arch support they feel even better. If you don't ride with any arch support do yourself a favor and experiment with a few aftermarket options. Bike shoes really tend to have shortcomings out of the box. I can wear a pair of Nike's out of the box but haven't worn a bike shoe with no arch support for well over 10 years. Fits perfectly, very comfy. i usually wear size US10, ordered EU43.5 and it is perfect with my wide feet. look very well built and insulated. one issue, on my first single ride the shoe got stuck under a log and the BOA just popped out of the shoe. i was able to press it back to the base plate and it looks fine, but maybe the BOA is not the best choice for technical rides.
I’ve worn these a few times now and thoughts:Pros: Great looking shoe in this colour. Have had lots of compliments. Double BOA gives great adjustment options. Sole has great power transfer & provides option for cleats or flats. Walking grip is good.Cons: Bulkier than I’m use to - find for MTB but chunky/heavy for gravel riding. Sides are a bit high & cuts into my ankle if I wear for long.
Durable by nature of a fully rubberized outer, I expect these will be very long lasting if the boa holds up to desert dust. However, that rubberization also makes the upper not form fitting at all so don’t expect it to conform to your foot if it’s not comfortable out of the box. Interestingly, I have very flat feet but had to use the higher arch supports to make them fit right and alleviate pressure points. Middle of the road breathability and I haven’t ridden them through creeks to know how well they drain but the materials look like they won’t retain water so probably will be fine. Interface with shimano xtr trail pedals is perfect, just enough contact to support but not interfere with release. I bought these on March 14th and put roughly 350 miles of trail riding on them up to April 25th. They fit true to size and right out of the box they were awesome.On April 25th I found that the soles had snapped on both shoes just fwd of the cleat mounts. Still waiting after four days to recieve any meaningful words from Fox. It seems like there is a design problem with these.For what it's worth I've snapped the soles in every pair of specialized 2fo shoes but it usually takes me a year and thousands of miles. I thought I'd try these and I'm not happy I did so. I'm sure they will eventually get replaced but I see this cycle repeating itself unless they fix the problem in the shank of the shoe.

First off, I have no hot spots with these, and they were super comfy right out of the box. For the same size (41), these have slightly more toe box volume than the original 2FO's - just enough to not smash my pinky toe in, but not so much that my foot moves around inside the shoe - and much less volume than the new 2FO's, which is a good thing. There's also hard molding that encompasses around and over the toe area, which not only provides upper support, so the shoe doesn't flex around, but it also provides better protection from rocks. The 2FO's have two boas that go straight across the foot, but on these, the lower one makes a figure 8 and goes down further, which helps keep the forefoot from lifting and sliding side to side. Before I go downhill, I like to really crank down the BOAs, and when cranking these down, I get no foot movement inside the shoe. The cleat track also goes further back, which is great for me, as I run them as far back as possible.While I can't speak to long-term durability, the build quality seems great. If anyone's wondering on sizing, my feet are 255mm long when standing, and I got the 41's. My toes are pretty much touching the end in 40's, while I have just a few more mm of length than I'd like with the 41's. A 40.5 would be ideal for me, but that's more of a personal issue, and nothing to do with the build quality, features, or function of the shoe. Overall, I'm super stoked on these and will definitely buy another pair once they wear out.
I want to give this shoe 5 stars. It’s well built, loaded with features, good protection from the elements…but the sizing is so far off it’s not even funny. For 15 years, every pair of cycling shoes I’ve owned have been a 42.5 (or the closest equivalent —I’m a 9.5 street shoe for reference). I ordered 42.5s and they were too big. I ordered 42s and they were too big. I ordered 41.5s and they felt fine at first and I was tired of returning shoes, but now that I’ve ridden in them, I think I could go down to almost a 40. I even had a friend of mine who’s a consistent 44 try on my 41.5s and he said they were snug, but comfortable. $250 down the drain.
Have had these shoes for about a month and they are solid. Came from several sets of Specialized 2FO and these are as good or better. BOA location is placed better than some shoes I have had in the past for a secure fit. Fits true to size and has a wider toe box than many other shoes I have had. Grips well when off the bike and is comfortable. Not a super stiff sole but that's not really what I was chasing in these shoes.
