I did some extensive research on variable neutral density filters and decided to acquire the Freewell set of two filters. I use them for video work and the set makes a lot of sense to be prepared for all types of light situations. I use the 6-9 stops on bright sunny days and fast lenses and the 2-5 else. These filters come in a very nice packing and with a magnetic hood. The overall build quality is very good and the filters have hard stops at each end of the range. I didn't notice any major colour shift. Love the product.

Got this for my trip to the Pacific North-West. Took this to multiple national parks in Washington and Oregon. They worked as advertised and even after some rough handling have not had any scratches yet.If I had to purchased this again, I can confidently state that I will get the same product again 100%. The build quality on these filters is excellent. There is almost no wiggle in the rings when at either end of the adjustment range, and the rotating action is very smooth. A little hard to tell from the photos, but the filters are VERY thin. The magnetic lens caps are a nice touch, and sit quite firmly. I bought this to experiment taking outdoor portraits with OCF without using the HSS feature on my Godox strobes. HSS uses a lot of power from the battery, so avoiding that issue was important to me. The Freewell VND filter has been well received. I didn't want to invest too deeply, so this product fit my budget. I bought the 77mm size because that is the largest size I would need. I have another lens with just a 72mm filter size, so I'll get a step-up ring for that. The filter seems well made and I like the hard stops for the different densities. The magnetic lens cap is working fine so far, although others have concerns about how long it will hold over time. I do not have mirrorless cameras, so I'll have to work with live view. Build quality is excellent, filter markings are very helpful and appear accurate, ring turns firmly and I like this, warranty is fantastic, reason for the one star, image quality is terrible. Tested on a Nikon D 850, with a Nikon 24-70 G ED F2.8. At 24mm, using stops between 6 and 9 the images showed marked non-uniform (much darker in one corner than the others) vignetting, along with a very bluish cast in that same area. For me, these are not acceptable and they will be returned. I currently use B & W XS Pro solid ND filters and was hoping for a bit more convenience, but not at this degree of image sacrifice. Sorry, I really did want to like these.
I own a RF 15-35mm F2.8 lens. It works on 6 to 8 stop, but it will make some VERY serious vignetting on 15mm with 9 stop, it is so serious that the picture is not usable like thisHowever, if you use 6 to 8 stop, it works pretty well on 15mm, even at 8 stop + F18 with some minor vignetting on upper left and lower right corner, but it's still within acceptable limit like thisWhen i move the lens to 17mm, 8 stop is a lot easier to use as I can barely see any dark corner on upper left and lower right.All in all, it's a good ND filter *if* you just ignore 9 stop. It's clear and super sharp even at 8 stop.

Others on line had the same thing happed. Freewell did not believe me and insisted they are solid. I told them about others. I tried to geft Freewell to let me send it in so they examine it and fix it or replace it and they put me though the ringer. First they wanted Photos and they never got back to me after I sent them. When I followed up they said we got the photos but then they wanted video proof uploaded to we transfer. I said please just let me send it in and they would not allow that. I was heartbroken to have this experience. Either way never ever again will I buy a freewell filter. These work very well. They don’t cause much vignetting at all, especially compared to other brands. And the ND stops markers make a big difference. They’re great. Fortunately they do screw onto the filter mount and the magnetic system is only for the filter/lens cover. Which is nice when still taking photos. But it does fall off when inside your camera bag. So I would not recommend leaving it on as it could potentially scratch something in your bag.

They are also pretty well made for what they are. They're not amazing, they just need do thier job and they're good enough that I can just toss them in my bag where I don't feel like they'll get damaged.The case does have one big problem that could be resolved with just a little extra space though. The filters come with a magnetic lens cap that unfortunately will not fit in the case with the filter. These sounded like when it says Hard Stop that means when I turn it from 2-3-4-5 and all that I was under the impression that when I go from one to the next there would be a sort of hard stop. This way I know without looking that I'm exactly at 3 or 4. That is not the case at all. The Hard Stop just means that you can't scroll past 5 or 2. Hard Stop does not mean that each one clicks into place when you move to it. I thought it was gonna be some neat little quality of life feature but it wasn't what I thought.Lastly is just a little FYI that if you are looking for a filter that won't cause the image to vignette you're in the wrong place. These filters do cause a little vignetting but it is subtle. You won't notice it in darker parts of your image, at least not as much, but in the lighter sections it is quite noticable. Still subtle but there nonetheless.Oh and one other quick thing is that Freewell really needs to go back to the second grade. The literature they include with the packaging has one too many grammatical errors. Like come on.... how are you gonna sell products and not check to make sure you're spelling and grammar were correct first.... Hopefully I didn't have any of that in here but if I did I'm just some random guy, not a company with paid employees that can't proofread, lol.
