Fremantle Football Club is proud to announce the release of its 2023 Indigenous guernsey, designed by Carly Grey in collaboration with Alex Pearce. The jumper tells the story of Pearce's journey from Tasmania to Noongar country to play for the Fremantle Dockers. The jumper design features three chevrons, each carrying a significant element of the Palawa culture and history. The kelp carriers on the top, the Yula (Mutton Birds) in the middle, and Kanalaritja (shell necklace) at the bottom all showcase the unique and rich heritage of the Indigenous community. The kelp carriers, fashioned by gathering strips of fronds to hold water, represent the strength and resilience of women in Palawa culture. The shell necklace, a symbol of status and hierarchy, showcases respect within the community. Additionally, the Yula symbolizes the coming together of people within the community through cultural practices such as mutton-birding. The design also acknowledges the significant contributions of women as both players and staff within the Fremantle Football Club. The berry colour in the shell design represents the important role women play in the club and the wider community. - Fremantle Dockers 2023 Mens Indigenous Home Guernsey- EcoClub fabric- Staycool moisture-wicking technology to keep you cool- Sublimated Football Guernsey- 100% Recycled Polyester (225GSM)- Official AFL Merchandise
