Best Print Quality MFC for the money!

After being recommended the Brother MFC-9330CDW Wireless Colour Laser Multifunction by an Officeworks sales guy, I took it home, fired it up and started printing. Nice printer, but really disappointing print quality. Being used to Fuji Xerox printers at work with great print quality, I started doing a series of test prints on the large commercial grade office printers, and then found someone who kindly printed some on their Fuji Xerox DocuPrint CM305df A4 Colour Laser Multifunction which was my other choice if the CM225fw didn't work out. I was hesitant trying the CM305df as it was really large for my home office environment and would have towered over my PC, whereas I knew the CM225 was a much more compact machine and would be a nicer fit in that environment. ... MoreAfter being recommended the Brother MFC-9330CDW Wireless Colour Laser Multifunction by an Officeworks sales guy, I took it home, fired it up and started printing. I was hesitant trying the CM305df as it was really large for my home office environment and would have towered over my PC, whereas I knew the CM225 was a much more compact machine and would be a nicer fit in that environment. However for me, as I print a lot of photos for work and play, along with text and some graphics, image quality is important.I received back the prints from the CM305df printer and they were quite good, however the ones I received had some hatching in the detail areas which I wasn't happy about, but colours were far more vibrant than the Brother I tried (and returned!). The CM305 only has 600x600dpi, compared to the Brother's 600x2400dpi, yet still had a more vibrant print quality, despite the hatching when viewed up close. The CM225fw, however, just blew me away with the amazing image quality. Incredibly fine - obviously in part to it's higher 1200x2400dpi resolution, but the colours are stunning and vibrant, and the image quality equals many fine quality photographic inket printers. For a laser, this is really amazing, and for me, a great relief.I haven't yet tried any of it's other functionality or wireless connectivity etc, however for me, unless the printer is able to produce a great print, it's all a bit of a waste of time having other bells and whistles.I took an extra 2yr extended warranty (for just in case reasons), but I have to say, it doesn't have the look of a cheap product. It is very solidly built, super quiet and incredibly easy to setup and use. I have read some horror stories on people finding them difficult to setup. Not me, it was a really smooth process. So, I am one very happy camper. Loving this new machine and hoping for many trouble free and economical printing years of use. I have given 5 stars for all except speed. It's reasonably fast, but not blindingly so. Still, it does the job and I'd give it a 9.5 out of 10.

Excellent home printer
24 August 2015

I bought this printer after my old Inkjet printer failed and I was browned off with the razors/razor-blade model of InkJet printer manufacturers. I selected this model because print quality is higher than the next model up, although the warranty is less.INSTALLATION.Some reviewers have hit problems, but I unpacked and assembled the printer as per the instructions and connected it to my Windows 8.1 PC using a USB cable. I then installed the software, and it came online without issue. I was also able to join my home Wi-Fi network without issue, and AirPrint from iPad worked fine, as did Wi-Fi printing from my work laptop. I have subsequently upgraded my PC to Windows 10, with no issue. If you have used commercial Xerox document centres at work, this printer interface will be familiar.OPERATION.The print quality is great, although I don't print a lot of photo's. Print start form PowerSave is fine, and overall print speed is way faster than my old InkJet, which is not saying much, but it's more than sufficient for home. Scanning from the printer is fast, although I did have to go through the software on the PC to find the default location for the output documents. You can change this to your favourite location. I have not bothered to configure the Fax features. We shall see how the cost of consumables goes.SUMMARY.A high quality printer, installed with out issues. Highly recommended as a home laser printer.

I bought 2 of this MFD one for office and one for Home.after 5-6 month the office one got problem with cartrigde density,it stopped working and i took it back to the Officework, after long arguement with store manager I got a replacement. But ony 3 months later same problem again with the new one.I emailed Fuji Xerox support they advice it to be swap:The error “ Low Density “ refers to a hardware failure andthe only way to get it resolved is to swap the machine over. "I don't want to wait my time on this type of machine, can I just swap with a B&W MFD.

Great Printer But for Two Things
17 October 2016

I have bought three different Fuji-Xerox printer models now, CM205b, CM215 and CM225, and I was hoping to purchase another 205 or 215, but there are none available. Why? 1. All have posed difficulties with installation, particularly with the scanner installation. Install instructions and troubleshooting information are not comprehensive, and usually takes a few tries. As found with most things, as they evolve, more complicated, harder for older folk to use. Print quality is tops on this 225, clever idea to have a control panel from which to perform functions - if only you can get all functions to function! The other gripe is the paper tray cartridge. 2. For those who like to do their own double-sided print routine which requires easy access to the paper tray (on this model a 'paper cartridge' style behind doors), it's a pain in the neck. The previous models were great for that because the paper tray was instantly accessible, not 'boxed in'. Wi-Fi is great for direct access on a LAN, as cabling to some remote place is not always practical due to doorways etc. and looks untidy. USB as usual is available, but the cabled network port supplied is more practical for a network printer if you don't want to use Wi-Fi. And that's why I give it 4 stars, not 5.

It was fun while it lasted

What a shame I bought this printer when there was only one review on this site, which was positive. In hindsight, quite a few have been bitten by this printer and its flaws. On the positives, the print quality is pretty good, and haven't had a problem with paper jams or speed of printing. Scanning to a gmail account generally works, although could be a bit hit and miss at times (needed to do extensive research on Google to find out how). There were far more negatives though. The initial setup of wireless networking was rather painful, and unreliable. I ended up sitting it right next to my WiFi router and plugging in with a cable. It would still lose network connectivity if it was on for extended periods of time, so had to do a hard reset to make it wake up again ... MoreWhat a shame I bought this printer when there was only one review on this site, which was positive. It would still lose network connectivity if it was on for extended periods of time, so had to do a hard reset to make it wake up again every so often. The on board touchscreen isn't very responsive, and the interface feels a bit clunky. Also, couldn't use the unit at all if there was one toner colour low, which is really poor design.Died after 18 months, and thankfully I took out extended warranty, but now I'm torn between getting another, to make use of my existing stocks of toner, or cutting my losses and going with something else. It covered the basics, and (usually) did what I needed it to do, but not sure I want to roll the dice again on this printer.

Network card failure

I purchased this printer a month ago.Initial set up although appeared to setup seamlessly did not actually work. After 2.5 hours on the phone with tech support, Fuji opted to send a new replacement. 10 days later and the new printer arrived, with identical issues. After a further 5 hours of tech support and various elevation to different tech levels, they converted my wifi password to a numerical value. We then had connection, for less than 10minutes. More tech support, this was corrected and I even had airprint working, for another 10 minutes. After that no network function would work. I then had to connect via the usb port to use my computer. For each "batch" of printing & or scanning I do, the port will work, but if the printer is idle for more than 10 minutes or so, then the usb connection also fails to scan and I have to unplug & replug to get connection. The scanning is limited to PC only and there is no airprint working. Fuji again recognise a network card failure and have sent the 3rd printer. Clearly an error has occurred as the third printer sent to me is now a second hand mono printer - I have called yet again and await outcomes.

Print speed and scan speed are quick. Print quality is better than Brother but worse than HP at the similar price (colour accuracy and sharpness). It has USB port, so you can print a document from a USB stick as well as scan and save a document in JPEG or PDF format without running a computer. However, due to lack of scanning software for itself, if you want to scan and save a document into a computer, you have to set up by yourselves with the very complex instructions and use the third party scanning software. One important thing is while it is advertised for scanning at 1200x1200 dpi optical resolution, you can only scan 600x600 dpi by itself. Overall, it is ok for its price. And because it uses toners without drums (Drums are separate with toners), if you use the third party toners, you don't have to calibrate it.

Waste of money and time

Bad all over. Most difficult set up. Cannot scan to email. Unreliable wireless (read: have to sit next to printer and connect cable). Have to uninstall and reinstall after a power failure, every time. Super slow operation. Poor instructions to install. Ink hungry and the black is more a wishy washy charcoal than a nice solid black. Poor customer service from hotline (they never call back after you leave your details and they say they will). Don't even bother with a Mac, though just as bad with PC. Don't bother with any sort of card stock. Biggest waste of time and money - wish more reviews were available when i purchased.
