This lens replaced my old 23mm 1.4r that I was using on my XT3. When I bought an XH2 the old lens wasn?t on the ?approved? list to be used with the XH2, but decided to use the old lens on the XH2 to see for myself. When I first tested it out, everything looked pretty good but wasn?t resolving or using the full capabilities of the sensor, in the end it was very acceptable to me. When I swapped out to the new 23mm 1.4 LM, I was amazed on how much sharper it was, focus was certainly faster and I felt the face/eye detection was quick to latch on to an eye and track it very well. I would definitely recommend this lens especially if you?re upgrading to an XT5 or XH2. Cheers!

Right out of the box started shooting at the circus show in very dark/colored place. Results are amazing! True colors and incredibly sharp. Main idea was to shoot in low light situations and it worked just great. Bu, I was surprised how great this lens was shooting landscapes and portraits! Very Happy with this lens and highly recommend!

I had the 18mm 1.4 WR lens and ended up selling it because I was not a fan of that field of view. I'm very comfortable in the 35mm full-frame equivalent field of view and this lens works very well. I'm happy with the sharpness, I find the auto-focus works well with my Fujifilm X-H2, and I like it for talking head video for my YouTube channel. My only gripe with all of these newer Fujifilm lenses is that they're so much larger than their older counterparts. I honestly wish it were half this size.

I was looking to buy one of these new f1.4 WR lenses for travel. Bought this new 23mm f1.4 WR lens. Image quality is stunning, excellent sharpness and bokeh. Very good close focus distance and good magnification factor. I was debating between this and 18mm f1.4 to use as single travel lens. I did not even try 33mm as single travel lens solution which will be good mostly for portraits and very tight for indoor photos (based on past experience with my 35mm). To my surprise the new 23mm is slightly more sharper. The reason I was surprised is, I see in many reviews about 18mm f1.4, distortion is optically corrected better than 23mm. I was hoping 18mm should be sharper than 23mm.* Took pictures from both lens from same distance as well as framed the same picture with same focus point. Both cases, 23mm came out slightly better in sharpness in all my comparisons. Note that you can see the difference only if you blow up the image to 200% in high resolution bigger monitor, do pixel peep and compare side by side.* I like the skin tone that 23mm produce (slightly better) in most portrait pictures.* closeup portraits (head/shoulder level) visibly distorted in 18mm. Do not see this in 23mm. Don't get me wrong, you will be very happy with 18mm if you just do half/full length portraits.* 23mm aperture ring and lens hood are slightly tighter than 18mm. My 16-55mm lens aperture ring is even more tighter than both lenses. I unintentionally changed the aperture ring of 18mm few times.* Only minor issue I see with 23mm is (not sure if this is even an issue), when taking portraits background objects look closer. This could be because of higher magnification in 23mm.* Overall IQ of both lens are pretty close. If you are inclined more towards capturing more of environment/landscape along with/without half/full length portraits go for 18mm. If you are inclined towards more close up portraits along with some environment, go with 23mm.* For slightly extra sharpness and undistorted closeup portraits I decided to keep 23mm WR. If you are not pixel peeper, you will not see any difference in sharpness of both lenses.

Great quality feel overall. Solid clicks from the aperture ring, manual focus ring is well damped (not too slow, or too fast). Aperture ring seems pointless however - it only locks the camera into auto.The only con is the high price - $900 is a lot to swallow for what this is, ultimately. Used at around $700 this lens is a better value. Overall, however, this lens is practically a must-buy, and certainly the best 23mm in the Fuji system at the moment.

You'll be much happier buying a combination of any two of the 35/f2, 50/f2, 18/f2 or 16/f2.8 lenses to round out a great Prime Lens set, as they'll see a more limited use compared to the versatile 23mm focal length - depending on your preferences.
Got this lens to complement my event photography within close proximity. This lens gives a perspective of being in the scene and at its widest aperture of 1.4 still maintains tack sharpness with amazing contrast and background separation. I cannot find any fault with this lens, it focuses fast, light and really delivers. For the price, it is so worth it. I am glad I didn't buy the knock off Viltrox as this is really top notch glass for the price. I am very picky when it comes to lenses and this one really shines. Once you put this on your camera it's going to be hard putting down your camera. I attached a few food photos which came out amazing and you can get a feel of the bokeh. All shot at f/1.8
I have the f2 version. Never really liked the IQ so rarely used it. I bought this upgraded 23mm hoping I would like it since the focal length is very versatile ( I do love 50 mm equivaled as well for most things).Was very surprised! The pics have a look I really liked, that special something I missed in the F2 version (though a really great portable lens)I was in the EU and this was the only lens I brought with me for my XT2 (yes, I will upgrade soon but love it!). Prior to dipping my toes into fuji land I had (and still have) the nikon D850, D810 and numerous gold ring nikon glass that was some of the best they ever made for their f mount lineup. Because of this I waa hesitant to jump back to a crop sensor (X-T4) and this lens, but i took the plunge as I wanted a fun every day camera for family and light travel stuff. Needless to say, this lens has blown my expectations out of the water!! It's insanely sharp at all apertures throughout the entire frame and has no CA issues whatsoever. I have never experienced a crop sensor camera and lens combo this disgustingly good. This lens is excellent. Of course the optical quality is stellar. Some reviews mention its sterility or lack of character (as compared to earlier versions), but the precision of the optics/lack of optical flaws is refreshing given the potential to impart character with a Fuji body. The construction is unreal, and more solid/decisive than the “fujichron” line. It’s not as big as I expected, especially if paired with an aftermarket metal/square hood. Lovely lens all around.
