Fujifilm Fujicolor Superia X-Tra 400 Color Negative Film 35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures, 1, Films Fuji

It is a great deal. 3 rolls of film with 36 exposures each. I cannot remember the exact price but the reason I can’t remember is because I didn’t sweat about it; it’s that great of a deal. This is my second time purchasing this item through pickup from Walmart and both times have been great experiences. The photos with this film turn out fantastic too.

Excellent film at excellent price, but...

It's good to see that 35mm films are coming down in price, and available locally instead of having to order online. I have no complaints about the film but Walmart's inventory control is strange. I went to a Walmart store to buy the film because online webpage shows it has the film in stock. When I got there, none was available on the shelf. I asked an associate and he told me it was out of stock. While in the store, I checked the webpage and indeed it shows the film is out of stock. Since I needed the film the next day, I checked within 50 miles and ALL Walmart's OOS. It wasn't like that just an hour ago. After I got home an hour later, I thought it was odd and checked the webpage again. Fabulous All Rounder

This is one of my favourite films despite the faster speed and associated grain, which isn't as pronounced as some EI400 films. Compared the the standard flavour of Superia 400 the tones and colours are several notches above and in the right conditions provide an incredibly rich palette. On a bright sunny day the colours really pop, especially the reds, though if you're looking for a more subtle effect this isn't the choice for those days. I've added a selection of pics in all lighting condition. In deep shadow the film really lifts the image and on dull days allows the colours to emerge where other films give a murky result. Please keep making this Fuji. Pretty please.

Fuji needs to keep making color film

I’ve lamented for years over the price gauging of the Kodak color films and the fact that Fuji is stepping back from film production. I’ve shot Kodak so long it started to hurt my wallet and I turned to this with no regrets. Okay, yes, the colors aren’t super accurate, so shoot digital then. There is noticeable grain if you don’t expose correctly, but it’s film! The colors are well saturated and in post you can do some color correction because this film can be kind of cold, but I like it. If you want perfect, realistic colors and no grain shoot digital or portra. Otherwise, this should be your go-to.

Great all-rounder for those greyer days

Put a roll of this through an Exakta VX with a slightly unreliable shutter using a mix of CZJ Tessar 50mm and Chinese cheap-as-chips 420-800 zoom. Lighting was a fairly quickly changing mix of late afternoon sun and overcast grey, varying by about 3 stops which I may have forgotten to re-meter for a couple of times. When developed, the negatives showed little evidence of my carelessness and all frames scanned happily. One, where I'd under exposed by a full 3 stops (the yacht on the mud), showed fairly muted colour but with a sort of retro feel which I actually quite liked.Despite the changing conditions, the Fuji coped well, giving nicely natural colours in the duller shots and really accentuating the afternoon glow when the sun broke through. Sharpness was as good as the Zeiss glass and considerably better than the zoom (especially given the hand-held shots at around 600mm!). Grain is visible but nicely smooth and not distracting or overpowering.Overall, an easy and enjoyable film to shoot with and as forgiving as you could hope for. and glad I have another few rolls until it's back in stock!

Kodak film in Fuji packaging

As of June 2023, Fujifilm 400 is being manufactured by Kodak. The box says "Made in USA" and the plastic film canisters are the classic Kodak style with grey lid. As far as I can tell, it's the same film emulsion as Kodak UltraMax 400. In my opinion, this is a good thing: UltraMax 400 has more shadow detail and doesn't have the green-tinted shadows that Superia 400 always had, which made blacks and dark greys look green. However, if you liked the color palette of Superia 400, this is something to be aware of. On the plus side, if you're a fan of UltraMax 400, the Fuji-branded version is a way to get it at a better price.

Love this film! Great price and decent colors!

I am a wedding photographer and I use this film a lot for work and personal life in combination with portra 800 mostly and sometimes portra 400.I wouldn't lie, if portra 400 would cost the same money I would definitely shoot only with portra.But I want to shoot a lot and not think about how much each shot costs me and this Fuji 400 allows me to do that.I would say this in some cases is the same as portra 400, but usually, it is 10-20% worse. With some editing, it becomes very beautiful (portra requires editing as well, but the colors there are better to begin with, while Fuji requires more work)I wish Fuji would have an 800 version!

NOT SUPERIA!

ANALOG PHOTOGRAPHERS BEWARE, as of May 2023, this product may NOT actually be Superia, even though that's what the Walmart website is showing right now. I bought some online today, did store pickup , and after I got home I noticed the box was very slightly different, and it did not say Xtra or Superia anywhere on it, or on the roll. Just Fujifilm 400.I did a little digging online, and it turns out that Fujifilm has likely discontinued Superia, and has rolled out this "new" stock of film with a VERY similar box and design. The box says it is made in USA, whereas Fujifilm is made in Japan. Seller sent the new fujifilm 400 instead

So all Fujifilm superia 400 extra film fans know that Fujifilm discontinued superia film recently and replaced it with the new fujifilm 400, which is lower quality. I was happy to find this listing for Superia. It said superia in the title and description so I was pretty sure I was buying superia but the seller sent the worse version, Fujifilm 400, instead. Fujifilm 400 is not Superia so change the title. Will keep it because I need to have film but very disappointed at the false advertising.
