Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo Instant Camera

Bought this as a graduation gift and honestly had no idea how cool this camera was until we took it on a trip! It has all the novelty of an instant camera, all the functionality of a digital camera, and all of the quirkiness of a phone camera. There are so many settings and functions and filters - we truly had a blast taking pictures on vacation. The best part is that you can choose which pictures to print off, which means that multiple people can get copies of the same picture! Plus, there is a digital version of the picture to share to social media. This is definitely going to be my go-to gift for photographers moving forward! A fun addition to any photographer’s collection.

In theory, it's this camera is a great idea, being able to choose which frames to print instantly rather than having to print every time you press the shutter button. But it felt like a camera that was trying to be something it was not. It's wasn't great at being a digital camera (producing a noisy and small image, but that was expected due to specs) and it wasn't a great film camera either. The changeable looks were cool, but it felt like a digital camera trying to be a film camera and it didn't do a great job of being either.Where I was most disappointed was with the prints. It's more of a digital printer, that prints to instant film, that also has the ability to capture images. Even though the camera prints to instant film, the images looked digital when printed. They did not have the same dynamic range as the Mini 40 and they also lacked the sharpness of the true film exposures. There was also some banding present in them, but that is on the capture side as they were seen in the digital files as well.Instax Mini film isn't meant to be pro grade, so I want to temper my expectations, but side by side the image quality in the Mini 40 crushed the EVO (in my opinion). Skin tones were better in the 40 as was the dynamic range of the photo itself.I just felt like I was using a point and shoot digital camera from 2005 that also had the ability to print on demand. I was looking for a camera to shake up the creative flow and it just didn't land for me.I think this camera is best suited for someone who wants to save on film costs and doesn't care as much about that true film look or the image quality of the digital images.

I've waited for months to get this camera, and I am so happy that I did! Unfortunately, there were not any Fujifilm Instax Mini Evo cameras available locally, but fortunately, B&H had one to buy online!My entire order was effortless, being shipped and received immediately from B&H.I receive so many compliments on this camera with it's vintage brown leather look, and the features are amazing! Between the ability to chose different filters, lens styles and even print from your phone through their mobile app, this camera is a MUST HAVE for fun trips, excursions, and events!I praise this camera, and B&H, every time I am approached w/ it. HIGHLY RECOMMEND purchasing it for your special occasions too!
