I am very impressed with this product and enjoy sharing prints with family and friends. Its ‘imperfection’ is its greatest selling point.

Awesome until it breaks.

At this point I am out $199 plus about $100 worth of film I had bought for it since I am definitely not interested in another instax right now. I am beyond disappointed that a leisure camera that costs this much could fail so quickly and leave the purchaser with no reasonable option to fix it. I had high hopes that this camera would last me at least a few more years but unfortunately it will likely be heading to the trash can.

In theory, it's this camera is a great idea, being able to choose which frames to print instantly rather than having to print every time you press the shutter button. But it felt like a camera that was trying to be something it was not. It's wasn't great at being a digital camera (producing a noisy and small image, but that was expected due to specs) and it wasn't a great film camera either. The changeable looks were cool, but it felt like a digital camera trying to be a film camera and it didn't do a great job of being either.Where I was most disappointed was with the prints. The changeable looks were cool, but it felt like a digital camera trying to be a film camera and it didn't do a great job of being either.Where I was most disappointed was with the prints. They just felt dull and lacked sharpness when compared side by side with the Instax Mini 40 prints that we have.Being able to print from the phone was cool and I printed a couple of images from my EOS R with it (transferred from computer to phone to app), but again, they felt like they lacked tonality in the darks and they just felt a little muddy.Being able to choose which images to print was cool too, but that actually took away from the instant film camera feel of it. It's more of a digital printer, that prints to instant film, that also has the ability to capture images. Even though the camera prints to instant film, the images looked digital when printed. They did not have the same dynamic range as the Mini 40 and they also lacked the sharpness of the true film exposures. There was also some banding present in them, but that is on the capture side as they were seen in the digital files as well.Instax Mini film isn't meant to be pro grade, so I want to temper my expectations, but side by side the image quality in the Mini 40 crushed the EVO (in my opinion). Skin tones were better in the 40 as was the dynamic range of the photo itself.I just felt like I was using a point and shoot digital camera from 2005 that also had the ability to print on demand. I was looking for a camera to shake up the creative flow and it just didn't land for me.I think this camera is best suited for someone who wants to save on film costs and doesn't care as much about that true film look or the image quality of the digital images.

Excellent Fun Camera

First off this isn't an instant print camera where you press the shutter and your picture is printed. The Evo is a digital camera where you have full control over the picture. The LCD screen shows you exactly what your picture will look like before you take it and you can adjust the aperture control in real time and watch as it changes the image. You can add a combination of 100 special effects and filters to change the image to your liking and after you've taken the picture it stores it to the internal memory or an SD card. Take as many photos as you like and then you have the option of scrolling through them to find the one you like the best. You can even crop it before printing and decide if you want it lighter or darker and when it's just right pull the lever ... MoreFirst off this isn't an instant print camera where you press the shutter and your picture is printed. Take as many photos as you like and then you have the option of scrolling through them to find the one you like the best. You can even crop it before printing and decide if you want it lighter or darker and when it's just right pull the lever and print it out. You can do none of that with an instant print camera, you just take the picture and hope for the best. Some people like the anticipation and element of surprise of instant print cameras but it can lead to a lot of wasted film if the pictures don't turn out the way you would like them. The Evo also has the advantage of printing out the same picture as many times as you like, useful if you want to share the picture with other people. There is yet another way of changing the picture and that is by sending it to the Evo app on a smartphone where you can crop it, change the brightness and contrast and change the colour saturation and add yet more special effects BUT only after you have printed it out at least once from the camera, Fuji's way of making sure they sell more film I guess because I can't think of any other reasons. There are some disadvantages though which mainly center around the processor. It's only only a 5mp sensor so try enlarging the pictures after transferring them to your phone or computer and the image quality isn't going to be great. The quality will look fine in the small mini picture format but expect poor detail and pixelation if you enlarge them too much. This is a camera to have fun with, where you can take picture and make sure they are perfect before printing them out. For more serious photography you'll get far better results from a smartphone, so don't rely on the Evo for all your pics on that holiday of a lifetime, it's not designed for that. The one thing it does give you though is the pleasure of having a picture you can hold instantly, something you won't get with a smartphone unless you have a photo printer. I doubt anyone would regret buying it, especially if they practiced how to use it properly and, don't forget, that isn't going to cost you a penny because you only print out what you want to print out. It's fun, it gives you great little pictures which you can put in an album to look back on in years to come, something we don't do very often in this digital age. If you like the idea just buy it, you won't regret it.

Instax camera and printer combo
19 April 2024

Instax camera and printer combo. Does everything an instax does but more. Has film and lens effects. Best part, you can use a micro sd card to maximize photo taking. The printer is the same as other instax printers where you download a mobile app to print off of a phone. Most instax printers print a bit darker than you’d expect so there is a learning curve with printing. But once you’ve got it down it’s easier to adjust photos before printing. Mainly speaking from an instax printer point of view as this is the first instax camera for me to own, so I don’t have much to say on the camera and those photos print quality as the photos I’ve shot look as expected from an instax film.

Love this little camera!
19 April 2024

Love this camera! It's a fragile camera so make sure you get a case for her. What I love about it is because Fuji is so much more reliable than Polaroid. It's also much cheaper when it comes to buying film. Another thing what I love is that this camera is also a printer. You can print your IG pictures or whatever pics from your phone. You can also edit those pics prior to printing! Mind you this is not an analog instant camera. It's fully digital so it will have a different look than Polaroids have or Fuji analog cams. The look of the prints is more sharp and the colors don't have that vintage filter look. I personally did not care about that so this works amazing for me. The prints develop much faster than Polaroids as well and you wont have to worry about messing ... MoreLove this camera! It's a fragile camera so make sure you get a case for her. Print to save on phone.. wish they fix this issue
10 July 2024

I really enjoy this camera but there were a few cons to this camera. One thing is that I HAVE to print a photo in order to transfer it to my phone. Wish this wasn’t an issue and could automatically just transfer it to my phone if I want to. Also, when transferring the photo to my phone, the picture quality isn’t that great, and there’s always the Polaroid film border when I transfer to my phone. It makes it look weird to me. Otherwise this camera is a cool camera because you do get to choose what photos you want to print instead of the old school way where it would automatically print after each photo taken. Wish those cons were fixed but otherwise it’s a great camera.
