Compared to the color film, this film performs well but it is not ideal. I must say that the film I received was not expired but it still performed well. Nonetheless, the bw chemistry is not as good as the color chemistry. The bw film takes a bit more knowledge to shoot.

Seems odd that that is possible but there is a definite green cast to images where I had taped a green filter over the lens, same for a blue filter. Viewers can identify which filter was used on which image without prompting. It isn't severe but it is evident. Otherwise, great film, tight grain but visible which is nice!

Absolutely awful - couple the unpredictable and inaccurate exposure system of the Instax Wide with the high contrast of Monochrome film and it's a recipe for frustration. At best, I got 4 of the 10 images that were usable. In one instance, I shot two exposures in quick succession of the same subject and while one was good, the other was horribly overexposed. ARGH!
Compared to the color film, this film performs well but it is not ideal. I must say that the film I received was not expired but it still performed well. Nonetheless, the bw chemistry is not as good as the color chemistry. The bw film takes a bit more knowledge to shoot.

I recently purchased monochrome FujiFilm 4x5 Instax wide film. The film was used in my Horseman 45FA. The first exposure was great, blacks, grey and in between.
Is this stuff sharp? Nope.Is it well balanced? Nope.Is it fun? Yep.Sometimes instant (tishbadaboom) gratification is okay. I haven't used instant film in about 40 years, but I really like this stuff - the wide format is preferable to the square.
Excellent Film in a polaroid sorta way. The photos have a soul to them and have character. If you want technical perfection, shoot digital. If you want a photo to have an "art" appeal, then shoot instax monochrome in wide.
I wish this film had a black border as you can get in the color film. But, for now, I will accept it as the Monochrome film itself is spectacular.
This stuff is absolutely BUTTERY. So beautiful. Slide like dynamic range but the blacks are a nice zone 9 black and the whites don't black out at zone 0. Much much much more usable and constant than the color film of the same medium.
With the link wide printer shooting black and white and printing on colour gives the same result so this really isn't worth the price with the instax wide link
it's amazing to find this item on sale but it's falsely advertised with an expiration date of this year. the true expiration date on the discounted black and white Instax wide is October 2019. that's why I gave a poor rating, the item is falsely advertised.
