Fujifilm Velvia 100 35mm Film
The Fujifilm Fujichrome Velvia 100 Professional RVP Film delivers high color saturation in the image with a uniform grain structure. Made for 35mm SLR cameras, the film offers a nominal sensitivity of 100/21° when developed using the E-6 or CR-56 process. You can pull the film to one stop below or push one stop above the exposure without experiencing any significant change in color balance and tonal gradation. The anti-fading characteristics of the film retain its quality for long days. Its high contrast rendering capabilities make the film ideal for outdoor photography.

High Contrast high saturation the hallmark of all slide, chrome ,or colour reversal films. This is also good for 8 mins of long exposure too with minor adjustments or corrections in PS.I couldn’t choose which long exposure to upload so tinkered with frame 29 and got carried away.I shot this roll about the same time as the Acros 100 ii review but this roll was sourced elsewhere nearly 5 years ago and been in the freezer for 4 ½ . You can mark it down for not being the cheapest but for saturation is a solid 5 stars all the way. Please forgive my poor attempts of a vertical loope table coupled with shoddy mobile phone camera work. For beginners err not really as there are other slide films that will do the same for less and of course Portra 400 with a greater margin ... MoreHigh Contrast high saturation the hallmark of all slide, chrome ,or colour reversal films. A sound investment err yes my roll went in the freezer £12 in 2015 and came out worth £22 in 2020! Still a great film but Ektachrome E100 in terms of reviews has Velvia 100 pinned against the ropes. Will Fuji Velvia 100 enact the rope-a dope philosophy or fall through the ropes.......? Only time and sales will provide the answer.

I am a professional photographer working exclusively in film. I generally use Fuji Provia which, presently, is hard to obtain. Therefore, I was obliged to try Fuji Velvia. Results are acceptable (just) but there is a tendency for colours to have a very slight magenta bias. This may be good in certain circumstances but not in others. I do not believe this to be due to any error at my lab. as I have used the same lab. for many years and totally trust them.

This was my first attempt at shooting a roll of slide film, and I think I'm hooked! Amazing vibrant colours and super sharp images, they could probably be mistaken for digital images (in my opinion).Slide film notoriously needs precise metering, so I was surprised that I had good results from my roll because my built-in light meter gave up on me and I resorted to using a free app on my phone! Maybe beginners luck, maybe there is a little latitude in velvia.

If you want dreamy saturated images this is it. I don't trust Fuji so shoot it while you can and if you're travelling somewhere sunny those blue skies are going to look great.
I knew going into shooting my first roll of velvia that it loves colours. But nothing could prepare me for when I got my film back and just the sheer intensity of the vibrant colours hitting my eyeballs. On overcast dull days it gives a life to the scene that I didn't think possible and on sunny/golden hour days it produces a richness that colour negative film can only dream of. I would say however that sometimes the colours do come out a bit oversaturated and somewhat fake looking, but that might have been a symptom of slightly over exposing this film (it really doesn't like that and I'd recommend under exposing by half a stop instead). But I'd definitely shoot again!
This has been my benchmark transparency film, for nearly 40 years. I have images taken back in the 80s, as good as when I took them. Standard E-6 processing, means you can get films developed pretty much anywhere, around the world. Unlike Kodachrome, which is almost impossible to get processed, these days. Sadly.
This film renders colours beautifully. Images come out looking 'true to life' yet also have that iconic, film look that everyone loves. My only complaint with colour reproduction would be that some images have an orange hue and others have overly vibrant greens. However, if you use digital post processing, it's nothing that can't be amended. The low ISO of this film means images come out beautifully sharp with little grain which I really like.My dislike with this film is with the Dynamic Range. It's known that slide film doesn't cope as well as negative film in harsh light, but my god, Velvia 100 cannot cope at all! Because of this sadly, a lot of my images on that roll of Velvia are useless, despite my best efforts in post to salvage them. Some may say that I ... MoreThis film renders colours beautifully. Because of this sadly, a lot of my images on that roll of Velvia are useless, despite my best efforts in post to salvage them. Some may say that I should have shot differently or that it's a known thing with slide films, but I was expecting some forgiveness. When an image works (which little of mine did !), I can see this film being great, but it's simply too expensive to experiment with. I therefore won't be coming back to Velvia 100 unless (A) my confidence in film photography improves and/or (B) I have a set subject which I am certain will work well with Velvia 100.
I have used both Fujichrome Provia and Velvia for several decades. I can think of no other color reversal film that comes anywhere near the exceptional quality and performance of these products. In terms of resolution, contrast, sharpness, and push/pull capability, they are the gold standard in film photography. However, my experience with both products has led me to believe that they are both superior to digital imaging. I will continue to use both of these great products until they are no longer available!!!
It was probably shot on a Nikon F301 which I loved at the time. A basic autofocus camera that produced good results. Metering would have been in camera The colours are great and the opportunity to revisit the slides and adjust in Lightroom is an added bonus. This was always considered a professionals film and justifies the current price. Get the exposure right and it will serve you well
Fujifilm Velvia 100 is one of the best films on the market ! the colours jump out and are so powerful. you need to bracket your shots but when you get it right .... Bosh ! you nailed it !! I would buy a few rolls and keep it for those special occasions when you fancy creating and capturing something special !
