Fujifilm XC 35mm f/2 Lens
FUJIFILM XC 35mm f/2 An especially sleek and lightweight prime, the FUJIFILM XC 35mm f/2 is a 53mm-equivalent lens offering a natural, normal-length field of view with an especially portable design. The lens incorporates a pair of aspherical elements to reduce spherical aberrations and distortion in order to achieve high sharpness and accurate rendering. A stepping motor autofocus system promotes quick, quiet, and accurate focusing performance and the rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes a pleasing bokeh. This simple feature-set fits perfectly with the lens’s petite design that makes it an ideal every day, walkaround lens. Prime normal-length lens is designed for APS-C-format FUJIFILM X-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 53mm equivalent focal length. Bright f/2 maximum aperture benefits working in difficult lighting conditions and also offers greater control over depth of field. Two aspherical elements limit distortion and spherical aberration in order to realize greater sharpness and accurate rendering. Stepping motor autofocus system is fast, near-silent, and precise, making it suitable for both stills and video applications. It also uses an internal focusing design to maintain the overall length of the lens during use and to promote quicker focusing response. Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

I had absolutely ZERO need for a 35mm stills lens, but the unbelievably low price peaked my interest. Even if you own the 18-55 XF kit lens, this 35mm XC proves it’s worth with F2 capability as well as it’s lightweight and compact design. This lens is so small that you won’t find yourself coming up with any valid reason to not just bring it along. The image quality and sharpness is identical to its 35mm XF counterpart.A few cons are that it’s made entirely of plastic, no weather sealing, no OIS and aperture adjustments must be done using one of the assigned camera dials. To all that I say...SO WHAT? I would be willing to sacrifice those trade-offs for every stills lens in my kit if it meant a $199 price tag and a high image quality lens that fits into my ... MoreI had absolutely ZERO need for a 35mm stills lens, but the unbelievably low price peaked my interest. I am new to photography, a pro novice indeed. I was caught between two stools of either going for the Fuji 18-55 variable lens, but after much careful thought, being short of budget and brainwashed about jumping on the prime lens bandwagon, I finally opted for this lens.Paired with my Fuji XT2, the images are sharp, focuses quickly, given out value for money is everything, and a stepping stone to accrue more high quality Fuji lens as you grow your photography business. It is paying dividend now as I groom myself in photography day by day. The images are so sharp. I highly highly recommend this Fuji lens to beginners and pros. This is a credible review from De-Graft Asafo-Adjei, Ghana.

I read reviews that compared it to the XF and all claimed the image quality and autofocus were comparable. I've done some preliminary testing and both IQ and AF are excellent.Yes, it's plastic but it doesn't look plasticy. I wouldn't put it under heavy use, but for my purposes it's fine. It really looks good on a smaller body like my all black X-E2s. Yes you change aperture with the camera but that's no big deal for me.The only quibbles I have are the rear cap, which is a slip on and not a locking cap like the regular lens cap. That maybe purposeful to keep from wearing the mount. The other quibble is lack of a lens shade. The good news is that the XF 23mm f2 shade fits perfectly. It's a great little lens. Now I hope they offer an XC 23mm f2.

This is a really great lens for the money. Highly recommended. Here are some of the most important pros and cons for me.Pros:- Focus is silent and quick. One of the best lenses I ever used, let along the price- Optically almost perfect with some small issue (detailed below)- Extremely light, perfect with small body camera like the X-T30 I ownCons:- Aperture ring is to me a thing I missed the most. I'm not a big fan using control dial for aperture, and because my ISO and aperture control is both assigned to control dial. It does slow down my time to take the photo significantly when I need to change both to take a photo- When focused at a very close distance wide open is a bit soft even in the middle. See the example for f2.0 and f3.6 comparison. If quality is ... MoreThis is a really great lens for the money. Highly recommended. I can see why people would want to use XF 35mm F2 instead of XC 35mm F2 for issues such as aperture ring, but with $200 discount I have no problem to live with the cons.
Great image quality- For the price you pay it is fantastic. The bokeh at f2 is what I was after. It's a very light and compact lens.My only real complaint is that I would prefer the option to have weather sealing with the plastic body and pay a bit more. I wish Fuji offered more budget-friendly lenses such as this!
First the good stuff... the price is obviously excellent. The optics are nearly identical to the 35mm f/2 WR (just less quality control on this lens so you may get a dud here and there). That's where it ends. And I know you don't get something for nothing, but I'm not expected too. What I haven't seen in all the reviews, and why I finally decide to write one (to bring perspective to the 5/5 average rating here), is the comments on how fast the autofocus is, and the CFD (close focus distance). I don't care that it's a mostly plastic lens (the optics are glass thankfully), but the slow focusing and lack of close up are deal breakers for me.Especially the focusing speed which to me is a huge step backwards for the X system in general. For a hundred more you're ... MoreFirst the good stuff... the price is obviously excellent. For a hundred more you're getting into the used price range of the 35mm f/2 WR which is very fast to focus, weather sealed, better built, and has an aperture ring. The CFD on the WR is still similar, but to me it's worth upgrading in price just a bit regardless.
I’m theory, this is a great lens. It’s compact, light weight and reasonably fast. However the copy I received clearly had a misaligned internal element resulting in the right portion of images shot at F2 - F2.8 rendering soft. I’m not sure if this issue happened as a result of mishandling during shipping, but it does seem odd a lens would leave Fujifilm's factory with such obvious optical problems. Nevertheless. I returned this copy and will likely purchase it from another retailer. Also, I highly suspect the lens I received from Moment had previously been returned by another customer for the exact same reasons (the box showed signs of having been opened before and the included paperwork had fingerprints). I included a note with my return indicating the lens’ issues ... MoreI’m theory, this is a great lens. It’s compact, light weight and reasonably fast. The first lens I ordered was defective. Everything worked fine mechanically, but it produced strangely soft images. The center would be sharp but almost everything else has a fall off look. Took some group photos at F4.5 and only the person in the middle was sharp--all other people, even the ones on the same row/plane, were a smeared mess. One of the internal lenses was probably misaligned at the factory or during transport. The replacement I got was much better. Produces sharp and clean images. Great bargain lens if WR isn't important. The lack of aperture ring is fine because using the front grip dial is faster anyway.
Just got used body only xt20 and needed a lens to try it out. I was not sure how I am gonna like fuji so I did not want to spend too much money. I knew I wanted 35 mm ( 50 mm full frame equivalent) I was in between wr version or this. But after some research this has the same optic as the more expensive version. You dont get weather protection but so is my xt20 and I take care of equipment. It was moneyMostly plastic construction. Soft at wide open ( I use 2.8 or 4), very good lens overall. You still get very good sharp pictures out of it. Saved $200.
I wish every fujinon xf lens has a xc version at half the price like this one is. I don't make money off of photography so I can't justify buying an xf series lens for my Fuji xt3. But I've been told this xc version works optically identical to it's xf counterpart at the same focal length, which is exactly double the price.. And I don't know about that but this one has been amazing for my use. I have no problem losing the aperture ring. I don't need whether resistance so lack of that isn't an issue at all. Autofocus is awesome. It's not at all a loud lens. The lens is do tiny makes my xt3 look more beautiful. I got complements from many bystanders. I couldn't be happier with this lens. If there is one thing I can ask it is if they could include a lens hood. But ... MoreI wish every fujinon xf lens has a xc version at half the price like this one is.
