I am a big fan of automatic watches but they are not very suitable for intense outdoor activities. That's why I wanted something for sport and I knew I did not want from the watch to track me. This is watch which let me focus and enjoy my outdoor activities without thinking how much calories I burned, whether I met "my circles", wether I was better than someone else, whether I do too much (well my body can tell me I am doing too much and I do not need a watch to tell me that) and does not send my data somewhere in the cloud. If you are a person like that too, then this watch is way to go. You won't regret. I has everything you need (time, date, timer, alarm, timezones).

My 16 yr old loves this watch! He wears it more than his Apple watch now. I bought it for a one week level 4 whitewater rafting trip he went on in remote Utah. The watch withstood all of the outdoor elements from extensive water, heat, sand, and wind. It looks just like new. The solar charging is wonderful! It gives him everything he needs in a watch and is very functional. I highly recommend it.

The legibility is good with the positive display and even better in dim conditions from the auto light when you bring your hand up and tilt it to see the time, the watch auto illuminates for your preferred seconds (1-3). It seems pretty good quality and the build seems to be very durable. There is an ample amount of features on there which makes it a great all rounder, more than is actually stated on the g-shock site on the features list of the watch, which is strange. My negatives are that; 1. The buttons are a bit hard to press and it can be frustrating as you have to exert some force to use them and navigate where you want to go on the watch, so maybe g-shock can improve on that next time and ... The alarm beep is a bit quiet for me and I have missed it over 4 times now, it seems to get muffed under the duvet, so that’s not too great, it could be a bit louder. However, the benefits outweigh the negatives and overall it’s a great good value watch for a very generous price. I would recommend!

Ive been a watch collector for many years and never considered a G-Shock before as I found them to be overpriced and digitals didnt float my boat. However this updated version of the Square caught my attention with some reasonable reviews. The sheer weight of extras combined with solar power and multiband 6 plus updates to the date display (UK option at last!) made this a no-brainer for me at under 100. Its now M y go to watch whenever Im working in the garden or doing any heavy work which would destroy any normal watch. Very impressed.
With the update of the old 5610 watch, this is absolutely perfect with the very basic functions you need. There are not too many unnecessary things and annoying bluetooth notifications, but exactly what a watch should be able to do. Enormously long battery life after full charging in the sun or in artificial light and with the atomic time signal the time is always correct. A watch that withstands everything and with the option of attaching bullbars or screen protection that protects the glass. With a zulu strap on, this watch will never break. I use it when I swim, bathe, sleep, work and run.
Casio really got this watch right when first launched many years ago. I have had one for over 10 years and it still goes perfectly. The only slight niggle was the date format which used only the US mm-dd format. This updated version (U for update?) now gives the choice of UK or US date formats. A brilliant watch, solar powered, radio timekeeping, world time options and a very legible readout. Very light on wrist, hardly know you’re wearing it. One of the best watches ever.

I understand buying expensive watches for fashion, as symbols of status, or for the love of high horology. As a functional tool, however, you can buy no finer watch than the G-Shock 5610. It never needs a new battery. In most of the northern hemisphere, you will never have to set the time and it will match the atomic clock's time exactly. It has every time zone on Earth. It can measure time down to the hundredth of a second. It has a light.If you want a watch that can do everything that a $100,000 Swiss timepiece can and more in a much less elegant and much more rugged form, then buy this watch.
BEWARE!!! Purchased this online and received it last week. Researched the batch number and found out that it was manufactured 11 years ago. That means the battery and solar cells are probably going to die soon. I called JCP customer service and the representative told me that some people want the older models. What a joke! They didn't think someone would notice. Every gshock solar model has a batch number that you can look up that decodes what day and year the watch was made. Take that number and casio has the decoder. Ive added my photo below. You may have to screen shots it then zoom in to see it. My watch was made on the 223rd day of 2012. 11 YEARS OLD! Sold as brand new.
