First off, this kit is for a very specific audience. It won't make your computer faster in most cases when compared to other kits in the same series. If you don't know if 16-16-16-36 timings can help you, it's probably not worth it over their 16-18-18-38 kit which often goes for nearly half the price. While the 8700k I tried them on are known for their easy 5gHz overclocks (my board even come with a "one click 5gHz OC profile"), mine refuses to go over 4.9gHz without crashing, no matter the voltage, and is insanely hot at stocks settings... like... 95C+ on a good AiO hot... Even then, I managed, with very little tweaking, to get the XMP profile to work. I have 4 kits (8 DIMMs) and have tested all of them as sets of 4 DIMMs at a time on that build. They all worked perfectly fine with the same adjustments when compared to the previous memory that was in the system (4x8GB Trident Z 3200 16-18-18-38 which ran XMP out of the box). All they needed was a slight voltage bump on the memory and base CPU offset while dropping the turbo adjustment voltage to reduce the variance between low and high power states. I've run multiple burn-in tests for about 6 hours on both sets of 4 DIMMs and they all worked perfectly. In other words, while their XMP profile didn't technically worked out of the box on a very picky system, it took me less than 5 minutes to get the machine to not only POST, but also survive a 6hrs torture test... for any mix of 4 out of 8 DIMMs that I got. Amazing! I cannot wait to see how they will fare in my next AMD build.

The first gen Ryzen was very picky with memory, and Gskill delivers with this Samsung B-Die kit! Low latency, tight timings, and the transfer rate is amazing at the price. Can be tightened even further out overclocked much further at stock timings.This kit of a great pairing to today's 5000 series as well. I really like the design, too. RGB can be controlled by OpenRGB, motherboard utility, or a lightweight application from Gskill.

I bought these for an AMD 5600x build. I have the 5600x (and now the memory) but am still waiting on the mainboard I want to become available. In the meantime, I installed them in my Asrock Z370 Pro4 Core i5-8600k. I haven't had them long enough to stress test them a great deal. However, I have not had any issue running them at 3200-14-14-14-36, 3600-15-15-15-36, 3600-16-16-16-36, 3700-15-15-15-36, 3800-16-16-16-36 at 1.4v with no memtest86 errors or windows stability issues. I don't intend to spend a great deal of time testing their limits until I get my new mainboard. However, I've been happy with the range of speeds and latencies I can run them at on my Intel board. So its probably my mobos(b450 tomahawk) fault but it will absolutely not hit advertised speeds of 3600mhz. wont even post. BUT it will work at 3400MHZ with lowered timings of 14-14-14 so in the end the latency is lower?! No Jensen "it just works" with this ram. schedule a couple of hours for tinkering. RBG software has to be running at start up or it occasionally resets to the rainbow puke. Just stop Manufacturers the Default should be OFF! So it ended up i manually "overclocked" it for lower latency at lower frequency with rainbow puke . I know, "why get the RBG then?" well it was the only ram at this price at this configuration. -1 egg for rbg software -1 egg for frustration. otherwise it seems to be great quality if you love rbg.

The XMP 2 profile sourced from these cards works perfectly (3600 with straight 16's). This is the first time in my life I've been able to get XMP working out-of-the-box without spending weeks tweaking timings and voltages. All torture tests passed after a quick visit to the BIOS. There are rumors that you can push this card to 4000+ with lower timings at >1.4V but then you'd have to spend weeks tweaking voltages and timings. =)
I have this ram kit running flawlessly for a few weeks now on a Z490 board with an i9-10900k. XMP config of 16-16-16-36 is very conservatively rated. This ram can be easily run at tighter timings and/or higher clock speeds without a problem. I'm still dialing in voltage, clock speed, timings, but I'm currently at 4000MHz CL16 with slightly looser timings and a bit over 1.4v and not experiencing any instability. I may ultimately decide to run at 3600MHz and see how tight I can get the timings.This ram is clearly overkill and unnecessary, but for power users who like to tweak every bit of performance possible from their system, this can't be beat. Overall I'd recommend this kit if you know what you are doing, meaning you don't need to read this review. Meaning if you are, you don't really need this..The what.. if you are not into overclocking, this isn't for you. The premium isn't worth it if you just want to run at XMP. Get the 16-19-19 kit or Crucial Ballistix. I know some people bought these were pushed by MC store staffs, just don't. They will also persuade you into a 1000w unit for a Ryzen 5.On the other hand these are probably the most cost effective RGB dual rank B-die out there. You should be able to run at 3600C14 or 3667 even 3733 C14. Some may be able to get it stable at 4000 C15 but that's very taxing on the FCLK, most Zen 3 chips still can't do that.
Without specialized benchmark software to test bandwidth and latency, it can be difficult to judge the comparitive performance for this set of DIMMs to others. Most retail websites don't state the die class or quality. Nor the expected performance. Thorough reaearch maybe required before you decide on a set of DIMMs for your build or upgrade. But the read, write, and copy performance of these modules appear consistent and stable after days of testing and benchmarking with XMP profile ON. Can faster and lower latencies effect gaming or workstation performance? Yes, so if you want the BEST, this set isn't it.
