I have had this coffee machine a month and absolutely love it! I had a saeco intelia that was over 10 years old which made great coffee but is no longer available so I was a little apprehensive about buying a machine which I was not familiar with but after reading other reviews I decided to give it a try, getting it at an excellent price from appliances online. I like my coffee strong and this machine does not disappoint, it is even better than my old saeco was! It did take several days to get the settings how I like them but it is easy to change the grind and you can select a larger amount of coffee in the menu. It also remembers that I like a double shot and automatically pours two shots, one after the other. The menu is very user friendly. A couple of things that took a little to get used to, you have to lift the cover to see how many beans you have left whereas my saeco had a clear cover which made it easier to check. The steam wand has a small round plastic cover where it comes out of the front of the machine which just will not stay put, it's like it doesn't fit properly so I have to keep putting it back but it does not affect the operating of the machine, just a bit annoying.Overall, I couldn't be happier with the quality of the coffee and the ease of use of the machine. Appliances online had the best price and I was kept updated about the delivery date, in fact it arrived a day early!

Excellent engineering design. This is my sixth superauto, all Gaggia, over the last ~20 years. I love the brand, but all my machines had minor design issues. The most recent being miss grinds due to beans sticking together because of heat from the machine and spent pucks. BTW, I only use medium roast beans. With this model, Gaggia located the bean hopper from above the boiler to the side and also vented the container for the spent pucks. Super design and no more miss grinds. The machine can make any espresso drink you want, all perfectly programmed to your tastes. Also, big thank you to the sales person who was very knowledgeable and directed me to the perfect model for my needs. Excellent service.

Really enjoy ability to program the double shot with one push of button - which creates 2 pucks. 1.35oz per shot, hot, full strength. I also made adjustment to grinder so is finest possible. Really enjoy the gaggia coffee that came with it. Installed the water filter without issue and set appropriate water hardness level per instructions - which are clear and helpful.I initially was all set to go double boiler semi auto route and had grinder picked out and all accessories. I backed off that because I ultimately decided convenience factor was most important right now. No regrets on that choice. The wand takes some getting used to - wait for the thumping sounds to start then put milk underneath. Otherwise you’ll be waiting for a bit if it’s your first use of steam ... MoreReally enjoy ability to program the double shot with one push of button - which creates 2 pucks. 1.35oz per shot, hot, full strength. My only fear is reliability - not because I have had issues (I have not), but because this is my first super auto machine. I am typically hesitant to get a machine (or anything) that has too much going on/could break. So far, seems solid. Time will tell and will keep this updated (if that is option). My wife and I love it and are very pleased with the quality and convenience of our double shot cappuccinos each morning.

So, this is an interesting machine. We had a Gaggia Platinum for many years that finally gave up and this was recommended for replacement. We've used it now for 3 weeks. Likes: 1. The coffee it makes is great. 2. The steam wand is nice and works twice as fast as the pannarello on the old machine. 3. Being able to add water directly into the machine, and not having to pull out a water container, is great. 4. The smaller size is great as we have a small kitchen. Dislikes: 1. The build quality seems really cheap and flimsy. I hope this will hold up for years but I'm skeptical. 2. The waste-water tray is huge and a little awkward. 3. The flow of coffee is not smooth *at all* and creates big bubbles, so you need to have it flow down the inside of the cup to get a nice ... MoreSo, this is an interesting machine. The bean hopper takes a bit of finesse to fill.Overall, I'm liking this machine but will I get 15 years out of it? IDK.
Nice looking machine, with a slim profile. Easy to use, once you get your settings right. We previously had Delonghi bean to cup machines, which broke down as the warranty ran out, hoping this will last longer. Great flexibility with choosing the settings to get the perfect cup of coffee. I use it to make Cappuccino's, whilst my husband has double expresso's. Milk frother is easy to use and intuitive - pressure is better than on previous machines. The only things which it could improve on is if the water lid stayed up when pouring water in and if the slope on the beans ensured that they all moved down as some are left at the higher section. Overall really happy with my purchase.
We had been using a semi-automatic (that can be operated manually) Breville Bambino Plus for the past three years. While we love the Bambino (it really does make great espresso!), the ritual of grinding, leveling/tamping, pulling, then knocking the puck out of the portafiliter, cleaning the portafilter, etc., was a bit much for my significant other. So, we decided to try a super-automatic. After watching videos and reading reviews, we decided on the Gaggia Magenta Plus. The first thing we noticed about the Magenta Plus is that it takes up considerably less room that the combination of our old Bambino Plus and a grinder (Baratza Sette 270wi). The Magenta Plus is deeper than either of the other units, but it's fairly narrow. The Magenta Plus is deeper than either of the other units, but it's fairly narrow. Definitely less horizontal counter space than a separate espresso machine + grinder. While we like the ability to customize the settings for each drink type, as well as adjust the grind settings, neither are as robust/fine-tunable as our previous units. The Sette grinder had micro adjustments that let us get the grind exactly how we liked it, and the Bambino let us set both the single and double shot pull length/time. So, the combination of fine-tuned grind and setting how long the pull was, allowed us to fairly quickly get the perfect shot. Not over-extracted, not under-extracted. With the Magenta Plus, the grind adjustments are more of a "big hammer" approach. There is a macro adjustment, but that's it. And, since you aren't able to see the grounds before they're extracted, it's hard to know how fine they are. As for the drink menu customizations, they are basically the amount (in ounces) and the "strength". Playing with those settings, plus the grind setting, we're slowly but surely getting it to where we like it, but it's definitely not as easy as it was with our previous setup. The good news is, once we get it where we want it, the settings are easy to save.Even without being fully dialed in yet, the espresso is good. Nice crema, and pretty close to where we want it. We really appreciate the ability to pull two shots at once (it actually grinds and pulls two separate pucks, pouring half in each cup with each pull...that's a nice touch). Finally, the manual steam wand has taken a little getting used to vs. the automatic nature of the Bambino (although it, too, could be operated manually). Luckily, it's fairly easy to get good enough, and with a little more practice should be perfect.
Our Jura Z9 needed repair after 6 years and we decided to replace it. We like this machine better. I prefer the manual steaming of the Magenta because the automatic ones require a lot of cleaning and it is easy for adding a small amount of steamed milk into a coffee. Machine is quiet, you can fill the water container while it is running (unlike the Z9) which makes the slightly smaller water container a non-issue. One note: the top of the water container opens up requiring a few inches of clearance below cabinets (you also want it to be not completely under a cabinet so that you can use a pitch to add water). The water container is removable upwards, which is not convenient in our configuration, but the ability to just pour the new water is fine for us.Startup was ... MoreOur Jura Z9 needed repair after 6 years and we decided to replace it. I turned out there was some water between the water container and the machine that was causing a problem. It has all been fine since then. Coffee/Espresso both are great, very happy with the purchase

I bought a Gaggia Brera 1 year 7 months and 3 days ago when I went to make a cup static discharged from my finger while pressing the on button. Machine went black, no power. I called Whole Latte Love on a Sunday @ 2pm in a panic. You will know this once you become dependent on the product these device’s produce. Tracy determined it was likely the power board and would ship me one out @ a discount because of the age of my machine. I live in a rural area and am dependent on Brea supplying me my perfect coffee. I had looked at the Magenta plus a few weeks prior and asked Tracy what she would recommend, she suggested the same model. I was now sold I could have a backup if something were to happen, or when I traveled. I had looked at the Magenta plus a few weeks prior and asked Tracy what she would recommend, she suggested the same model. I was now sold I could have a backup if something were to happen, or when I traveled. The items arrived the next Saturday, day after Black Friday, the power board took 5 min to install and fixed the issue. The Magenta plus is really nice I like the extra capacity’s of water and coffee. Being able to pour water in from the top is a plus. The higher clearance is welcome my ion mug now fits. The highlight is the Americano button Excellent! The pro steam wand is also a big step up, as well as the display, higher temp adjustments, and 2 year warranty. I do wish you could organize the recipes on your page of choice ie move the americano to the first page, and that the save screen was an option while making adjustments instead of at the end when you forget and walk away, but those are minor issues. I noticed this model does not have the rear power switch the model up does and the Brera also has it. I have a lot of power outages and suspect this may have caused the premature failure. So now I switch off the devices but the magenta doesn’t really switch off? If you are a newbie be aware it takes time to set these up to your taste. Like 7 coffees for the machine to learn the beans. Once you have it dialed in it’s great! I did figure out that you can make an Americano easily on the Brea by selecting the espresso button for your shot and then setting the beans to scoop and press the long coffee button for the hot water. Another advantage of having two machines is I can have 2 different beans ready to go :) I am so impressed more than anything in Whole Latte Love’s customer service (Tracy) and having in stock parts to service these machine’s.
Writing the review just 2 weeks after getting the machine. It works smoothly makes great espresso that I feel is on par I'd not better than coffee shops I have been to. What I like most is that it's easy to clean and use. Learning to froth milk adds that customization as well as the coffee adjustments you can make in the settings.
