Gamblin Gamvar is a varnish used to provide a protective surface on top of a finished oil painting. It saturates and gives greater depth to colours gives a unified shine to the surface. Gamblin Gamvar is available in Gloss, Satin or Matte depending on the desired finish. It is water clear and stays water clear throughout the life of the painting. Formulated with resin and a mild solvent (Gamsol Odourless Mineral Spirits) it is virtually odourless. Gamblin Gamvar is easily removable with Gamsol, posing very little risk to paint layers below. To remove take two cotton cloths, one dry, the other soaked in Gamblin Gamsol.
