Appearance:Colourful, clean.Suitability:GoodQuality:GreatIt's my first time buying a GAN Cube, hoping to take my cubing to a higher level. Boy, it's great! Smooth, fast, and easy. So swift in fact, that I'm not used to it. Every cube I have bought are cheap. Even if this seems more pricier, it is absolutely worth it. Yes, competition-grade. I can see why it is a beloved among the speedcube community.

This cube is basically a non-magnetized version of the X, and feels almost time identical when magnetized, which is an amazing feel.Right out of the box, it is the quietest cube I have ever heard, and has an extremely nice buttery smooth feeling. The only problem I could imagine anyone having with this cube is the shades. The red, white, and blue are dark and look really nice, but the yellow, green, and red are a bit dull, but they contrast really well. After a couple of solves, it gets a bit louder, but the performance also increases greatly. After doing an ao100 with this cube, I broke all of my personal bests, beating my Valk 3 m.When I first magnetized it, I used 4x1.7 n35, but it was way too strong. My mistake was that the spots I selected for the magnets ... MoreThis cube is basically a non-magnetized version of the X, and feels almost time identical when magnetized, which is an amazing feel.Right out of the box, it is the quietest cube I have ever heard, and has an extremely nice buttery smooth feeling. My mistake was that the spots I selected for the magnets were where the plastic was the thinnest and the furthest from the core, which I don’t recommend. I remagnetized the cube with the magnets closer to the core where the plastic was thicker, which made the cube feel incredible. Don’t make the same mistake I did.Overall, I recommend this cube to pretty much everyone, as it feels amazing both of the box and after breaking it out in.**this was all before I set it up, which greatly improved its performance even further**

I absolutely love the Gan 356 R. It comes with the yellow GES nuts preinstalled, which is my favorite strength. Out of the box, the flush tensions were too loose, and the cube was too fast, uncontrollable, and flexy. The one pro of this was that it would never lock up. You could just brute force an algorithm, and it would just do it.After playing around with the tensions for a bit, I found that 1.25 turns tighter from flush does the best in this cube, providing just the right mix of speed and stability, while maintaining exactly 45º corner cutting. The corner cutting of this cube is extremely effortless. Either you can cut with completely minimal force, or you can't cut at all.I didn't think I'd like the darker shades on the 356 R, but I was pleasantly surprised ... MoreI absolutely love the Gan 356 R. The contrast between the colors is enough for moderately low lighting. The cube has black internals, with primary stalks, and the pieces are coated with the honeycomb design. As the the aesthetics of the cube, I really like them. The center cap has a raised circle, which looks awesome when the cube is reflecting light at you. I also like the squared off corners, and the pitch black in between the center piece and the edges/corners. The cube also feels very plush and high-quality.It has a really nice feel, as well. It's buttery smooth, soft, and has some crunchiness to it. It's also very quiet. Overall, I really like the feel.
I got this cube about a year ago and used it as i first got into cubing. It was decent but there are so many better options out there. Super RS3m, RS3m 2020, the little magic and many other cubes. For the price its performance is very substandard. Please just don't buy unless your willing to magnetize it.
I think this cube has everything you need, with one major setback. More on that later. So i got this cube as my first GAN cube as a result of me trying to find a new main (over GTS 2M) while still trying to save a few bucks. I came into it with really high expectations due to GAN's reputation as a premium cube brand, and it did not disappoint. This cube was very fast OOTB, and could corner cut 45 and line to line effortlessly. Corner twists and pops are a rarity. Now about the shortcoming. This cube does not come with magnets, and sadly, it very much requires magnets. the cube is very flexible and the pieces are not held in place very well OOTb. Because of this, I bought the Cubicle Labs strong magnet kit and installed the n45 magnets included, and the cube ... MoreI think this cube has everything you need, with one major setback. Overall, buy this cube if you are looking for a decent budget option, but if you want it to be competition viable, you will need to magnetize it. If you don't want to magnetize it, you should just go with a Little Magic, or maybe the MF3RS2 M.
