Compared to a similar Gardena hose reel (made in Sweden) that I bought last year, this one made in Germany, has a softer hose and doesn't feel that strong. The clamp-on quick connect came off easily after just a short use and Gardena seems to be aware of this issue as it is mentioned in their brochure! For such an expensive hose reel, it doesn't have a lockable mounting like my other hose reel. You can dismount this hose reel by loosening just 1 Philip head screw! It also doesn't come with a hose guide roller. Other than that, it works equally well and looks good.

While the purchase price is daunting (even when on sale), it is worth it, and reasonable when you compare it to purchasing separate hoses and reels of similar function and quality. The reel works exactly as advertised, pulling out and retracting smoothly, even to the full length of the hose. The mounting bracket is easy to install and the entire reel can be easily taken on or off the bracket for storage. The pivoting function is also perfect for pulling the hose in the desired direction in your yard. The included nozzle also functions well, and really doesn't need an upgrade if you don't mind the twist functionality. All in all, a great purchase, especially with the peace of mind that comes with a five year warranty. My Suncast hose reel was leaking and parts were not available as it was too old. After reading reviews from others, I did a cost comparison for a new hose and reel and this worked out to a better choice because of its features. Easy to install, works exactly as per the instructions. You get what you pay for...I purchased it a last week when is was marked down 15% which help with my decision. I have two. One 4 yrs the other 6 yrs old. The warranty is five years so you better keep your receipt! One of mine the main coil spring snapped which means you fight to get another if they feel like it. They are expensive and I really was hoping to get many years out of them considering I lube them regular and store in the basement over the winter (a must!!). Make sure to lag them into brick or heavy wood as they weigh a bit and along with tugging the hose it puts strain on the mounting area do make sure it’s secure! I went to the hardware store and installed a off/on quick turn valve because every now and again the fitting on the end of the hose lets go and without the valve you will have piles of water everywhere. I bought this a year ago. It worked so well and I'm so happy that I spent the money. While the product itself is so good and makes the life so much easier, the company stands by the product as well. Customer service was just so good I love to give all 5 starts. They are so helpful with any issues with the product and warranty. My advise is not to leave the reel outside in the winter as it potentially get frost damages. I highly recommend this product as it really makes the watering a more pleasant experience.
I purchased the reel by recommendation of one of the CT employees who advised me that they would be going on sale the following week while browsing in-store one day. I installed it on my wall with relative ease and tried it out. Fantastic product! It was easy to pull and get the hose out to a length required and it stayed in place. To retract it was equally simple. As a matter a fact, I was a little surprised at the speed that it did react. My only (minor) complaint/concern is about the hose end it came with; it was not a crimped, fixed end, rather a repair connector. I find that if you don't pull the hose from further back, the repair connector end piece will come off very easily. There is no control thing to reduce/increase water flow so you get water flow what the main water pressure is unless you wind the nozzle all the way to close position but before it reaches that point it will scatter water on your face and clothes with high pressure. It was great when it retracted. For the price they charge,it should always work. We have had it for a year and a halfand now it doesnt retract. It gets stuck. So I tug somemore hoping it will start to go in like we do with avacuum but it doesn’t. Very disappointed. Too bad becausethe hose is ok.
