I received this watch last week since my old Garmin S1 no longer fully charged and the charging clip spring snapped almost immediately after purchase. This watch is way better overall. I only had the opportunity to try it out on the only golfable day remaining this season and found it excellent. It included distance to hazards which I loved and the yardages were very accurate. This watch has all the courses already installed and the buttons are very easy to navigate. I love the interface and the watch itself is very attractive. I got this watch at a good sale price online and picked up in a Best Buy store close by. The service by BestBuy was excellent. I upgraded to the S12 from an S10. I love my S12, good features, easy to use on the course, and far superior battery to the S10. I like being able to manually adjust the yardage to the day's pin position, as on my course it displays the pin position at the tee. Backing up scores to the Garmin app and website is handy. I feel the S12 is a bit expensive, but I guess if I have it for a few years, it works out better value over time.

Considering the weather it is a little difficult to assess right now. However on Christmas day I did wonder down to my local golf course and went down hole number 10. the watch found the course no problem and reacted just like it should on the tee. I walked down the hole to the 100 yard marker and the watch read 99- 100 yards as I approached. It perforned just as well on the returning hole. I stopped there as the wind was blowing with the temp. around 20 F. Great job overall.

Excellent golf gps watch. Simple design, better charging system, still ultra lightweight and best of all, superb value. My old die hard Approach S2 finally gave up. Needed a new watch that gives me the basics of front center back and this newer updated watch provides distances to traps, hazards.
I bought the GarminS12 watch about three weeks ago and I think it was a great purchase. I have been able to use it for about 5 rounds of golf it is very accurate, and I find it much more helpful than the range finders. Besides giving the distance to the middle of the green it also distance to the front and back end of the greens. It is light and doesn't both you when you swing. It switches holes automatically, but it is a little awkward when you begin a round or want to do one of the options manually. The only downside to is that the cable is proprietary and if you lose you will probably have to purchase a new watch. To bad the watch couldn't use a universal UBS cable.
I am very pleased with my recent purchase, a Garmin Approach S12 GPS Watch. I was definitely not disappointed with the product description, ordering process and delivery. Everything about this device is as good or better than I anticipated. Not wanting a touch screen or extras that would likely distract me on the course, I'm happy with the S12. Very well designed, lightweight and comfortable, easy to see at a glance and all the necessary accurate information. Thanks Carl's Golfland for another great golf purchase!
I have owned expensive Garmin gps golf watches in the past and the S10 is so much nicer and a real upgrade for a much lower price. Honestly, its a no-brainer! Past watches cost $350+, this one is a third of the price with everything you want in a golf watch. Light weight, awesome display indoors or out, watch band stretches so no more broken bands, 3-4x longer battery life, much better usb charging connection, ability to record score, see lay up distances and more! I love how you can switch between display contrasts. Definitely recommend this purchase! I now use my rangefinder much less and find the distances measured to be extremely accurate, allowing more focus on the game. One note: The package includes a usb cord, but not the plug. Great golf watch, performed better than expected, accurate, extremely helpful tool and very easy to use while playing on/off course. Overall, I’m very happy and pleased with purchase and would highly recommend.Some of my favorite features:-affordable.- In full sunlight, it was still easy to read watch readings.-the speed the golf gps feature found courses.-I was able to retrieve green shape and distances to the front, middle and back of the green.-Distance to hazards.-Keeps score, which automatically upload to my Garmin Golf app.
Precise. It can determine which fairway you are on when there is very little separation between two parallel fairways. Basic features are easy to find. The display is very sharp. I have used only the basic features that I need.Big drawback: the printed operating instructions that were provided and those online are very brief and incomplete. I had to go to other sources to find out how to get certain displays ( eg clock time, for one ). Many of the features are impractical because of the time required to make the entries during active play.
Only giving a 3/5. a couple reasons, 1 buttons get pushed too easy on wrist changes screens inbetween shots. 2 i have gotten fully comfortable going through menus to use other features on course. so takes too much time on a busy course. but it is light weight, if it stays on right hole and screen having the front mid back of a green is easy to see. don't have time to find and move pin. still up in air about accuracy differs from phone app and cart yardages and a range finder. but easier to use than a range finder. but price was good using scheels rewards. but would prefer the touch screen if i could afford it.
