Pulled the trigger and made the purchase. Had an S60, S12 and wanted this one next. First thing, no idea on how to set this thing up and playing in a tournament t the next day. It was set to Large Numbers so the screen didn't even look like what was on the box. Watched a few you tube videos and started to figure this out. Had only had the watch about a month, about 5 rounds and getting better, still not using half the features and learning. This was a great investment!! By the time I learn most of the features, my game should be more dialed in. Recommend checking out a few user videos, though.

I’ve gone 2 months now with wearing this every day. For golf purposes, it’s easy to use and very intuitive. Not saying it’s the reason but my handicap has dropped since wearing it. The screen is big and beautiful. Now what’s surprised me is wearing this daily. For as much as it costs I don’t know why I was surprised that this functions very well in all aspects of life. The battery life is incredible, I charge maybe after a week and a half to 2 weeks of wearing it non stop. The sleep data is cool. And I’ve used this on several runs and bike rides as well. I have had to download a few apps so I think there’s some room to be more seamless in Garmins ecosystem. But for now, I’m happy playing in it. Good job Garmin. Oh and the TaylorMade collaboration makes for a pretty ... MoreI’ve gone 2 months now with wearing this every day. For golf purposes, it’s easy to use and very intuitive. Very comfortable watch to wear. I purchased to help get better yardage on the course and track club distances. I currently utilize a Bushnell Phantom 2 for general on course distance.I have had some difficulty getting the screens to appear like the screen shot on this post.I recently added the CT10 Sensors to my clubs. I played a round but wasn't sure if they were being picked up. After checking the Garmin app on my phone they were.I plan on watching additional videos on set up to get more comfortable with it.I like that it also tracks other activities and sleep/recovery.I have many Garmin products so I have faith this one will be moving up to 5 stars after I get more comfortable with it.
Purchased this item along with the Garmin Z30 range finder and the combination is a game changer. The watch itself has an incredibly bright and easy to read screen. I’m getting up there in years so the eyes don’t work so good but I had no issues using the watch without glasses. Functionality is excellent with just the right amount of useful information without being distracting. Very easy to navigate and customize. It will take a few more rounds before the caddy feature will know my distances and dispersion but all good so far!Absolutely love it and wear it all day, every day.
Coming from a Garmin Venu 2 Plus into this more golf-oriented watch, i was very pleased with the build quality, screen size and clarity and the overall fit and function. This watch basically had everything I previously used from my Venu 2 Plus, but with a MUCH more robust golf focus and functionality. I've only had a chance to test on course once, and that was at a local par 3, but it worked amazingly that first round. Like others have reported with other S70's and other models of golf-focused watches, the one place where it does need a teensy bit of help is with short and "lightly" hit chip shots and putts in terms of gauging distance and ball position. So if you really go full geek and care about logging every single shot, definitely going to need to invest a ... Like others have reported with other S70's and other models of golf-focused watches, the one place where it does need a teensy bit of help is with short and "lightly" hit chip shots and putts in terms of gauging distance and ball position. So if you really go full geek and care about logging every single shot, definitely going to need to invest a little in the Garmin C10 sensors for your pitching/chipping and putting clubs. I got the starter kit with three CT10 sensors and added one to my sand wedge which is my primary chipping/pitching club for most shots 40 yards or less where you wouldn't take beyond a half swing (which is about where the watch struggles to pick up the swing and ball strike) and then added the other to my putter. Haven't yet tested on course, but the pairing of the two sensors to the watch was a snap. Looking forward to seeing how well it all works my next full round which will actually be in about 5 days. I did also buy a few extra watch bands, the Garmin QuickFit 22 versions in silicone. Haven't played with swapping those out yet, but seems like it'll be a snap when I want to color things up a bit. Overall, super happy with my purchase. This watch really stands out and I love the unique color-way of this TaylorMade branded model.
Initial setup was rough. Would not add to iphone. Long chat and phone call with Garmin could not resolve the issue. They sent me a new physical charge cable with usb A (only came with USB C) to try adding via computer but that didn't work either. Was finally able to manually add using Bluetooth directly from iPhone instead of using the Garmin apps (something they told me not to do - but I was out of other options). Loving it since I was able to add it to my phone. Some minor odd quirks with weather needing to be open on watch at same time you have the golf app open to sync to watch. Was able to transfer most of my Fitbit data over theough download and upload 1 month at a time.
I’ve used s70 for about 15 rounds so far and am overall happy with its performance. I never even pull out my rangefinder anymore as I trust the numbers on the watch. I don’t pair it with it my phone while golfing so the yardages don’t take wind into effect; it’s better to account for it on your own as the watch doesn’t update wind anywhere near fast enough to be useful. The auto-shot tracking is very useful and a simple tap is easy to do, it does however take longer than it should to pop up sometimes, not a big deal though. The worst thing about this watch is the location/sensitivity of the buttons; depending on how you release the club your wrist will always push a button. Sometimes it shuts off during a round because of it, if not almost every shot I have to hit ... MoreI’ve used s70 for about 15 rounds so far and am overall happy with its performance. The worst thing about this watch is the location/sensitivity of the buttons; depending on how you release the club your wrist will always push a button. Sometimes it shuts off during a round because of it, if not almost every shot I have to hit the back button because it goes into settings. I also wished it had it a setting to vibrate at a certain bpm, as I planned on using it for practicing my putting, I think it would be better feedback than a metronome. Overall, it was a good investment, it has helped me hit more greens with yardages to front, back, and center, and I would purchase it again. It is great for seeing hazards on blind holes or courses you haven’t played before.
I was looking for a golf watch that displayed any golf course, in color, was straightforward to use on the course and could be easily seen even in bright sunlight. The Garmin Approach S70 did not disappoint. I admit that I'm a techno geek, but this watch has features that have impressed me. It's amazing how much information is available and how customizable this watch is. The quality is excellent and the battery easily lasts a week before having to charge. It's not cheap, but you get what you pay for. I no longer have to hunt for the yardage markers on the course, which is worth its weight in gold, especially when your eyesight isn't what it used to be and you need all the help you can get not only on the yardage, but also the fairway contour and where the hazards ... I previously gave the S70 four stars as I was having a problem with it going into sleep mode. I finally figured it was doing because the sleep mode was set to 6:30 pm not am. Great display. Works well for walking, running as well as golf. It is so easy to use and I found it easy to add watch faces from the App Store. I really love the bright display and the looks of the watch. I have the 47mm size and it is perfect for my small wrist. Also love the much longer battery life compared to the S62. I had my S62 for a couple of years and it was really good, but the S70 is so much better in terms of battery life, display, and the c type connector.
