Not even remotely comparable to hummingbird or lowrance products. The downscan and 2d sonar are literally about as usable as an anchor rope with some knots tight into it. Sidescan is useless. The livescope is the only redeeming factor. All others are wholly short.

I did a lot of research and reviews to find the right fish finder for my Old Town 120 PDL. Garmin 93 UHD2. I found that Garmin beat every other fish finder hands down. My Garmin is user friendly, accurate, offers a lot, and the upgrade process with the Captain’s App from my iPhone or iPad is seamless. I would definitely recommend the Garmin 93 UHD2 to everyone

I haven't used it that much yet but so far, everything is great! This unit is mounted on my kayak and powered by a Dakota 60ah lithium battery. This is my first Garmin unit and it currently performs better than the Humminbird Mega unit that is on the other kayak.

I am just starting to use the sounder. It is excellent for my purposes. Bottom fishing and trolling by depth contour. My only complaint is with the flimsy assed hardware for the excellent transducer. That needs some improvement
I have 2 of these now, they work great, wifi comm with unit really makes it easy for maps and updates. 9 in is perfect size for console and up front panoptics, i would buy again. With quick mount i can move from one boat to another. THANKS!
Max. depth reading is 175' saltwater, misleading as only shows freshwater of 800"Difficult to change readings and map will not show distance to destination at times. No ETA, dist to dest, off course, frustrating.
Comments intended for Garmin. I despise this machine and it has yet to be in the water. The unit seems obsessed with Active Captain (which is necessary to activate the chart subscription), Quickdraw Community, Active Captain Community, and sending you notifications. BTW you must buy and install a SD card for Active Captain (inexpensive and no big deal) to active and then use the unit without seeing a myriad of error messages, but I do not understand why Garmin just did not install the necessary internal memory to begin with. The capabilities of this machine seems to exceed the space shuttle and I suppose all this would be handy if I had a yacht and was planning a trip to Bermuda. But until then I'll just be fishing (without my smartphone).
Have owned this for about 3 months now and overall I'm pretty happy with it. However, there are two very simple functions missing from this unit which have caused much annoyance. 1) When viewing in combo mode with fishing chart on one side and sonar/cv on the other, this unit does not let you touch a previously created waypoint on the chart to quickly bring up the review/edit box. You have to click on the waypoint, then click menu, then click on waypoint list, then scroll through your entire list of waypoints to find the one you want to edit/move. Very annoying and time consuming. The only way you can touch on a waypoint to bring up the review/edit box is by putting the chart in full screen mode. My eight year old Garmin echomap chirp 53dv unit easily let me select ... MoreHave owned this for about 3 months now and overall I'm pretty happy with it. Very annoying and time consuming. The only way you can touch on a waypoint to bring up the review/edit box is by putting the chart in full screen mode. My eight year old Garmin echomap chirp 53dv unit easily let me select a waypoint on the chart in combo or full screen mode to bring up the review/edit box. 2) When in combo mode(chart on one side/trad sonar & clearvu on the other side) there is no way to add time as an overlay data to either the chart or clearvu window. The only way you can view the current time is by bunching it up with all the other data in the top left corner of the traditional sonar window OR by adding a full data bar to the top or side of the screen, both options take up screen space unnecessarily, especially the data bar which also makes the other windows smaller, turning your 9" screen into basically a 7".*Garmin please address these two things in your next software update..then this gets 5 stars!
I previously had an EchoMap UHD 7 and wanted to upgrade to a little larger unit. This unit has not disappointed. The GT56 transducer combined with this unit is a very nice package without breaking the bank.
I suspect it's a great unit, though pricey. But I could not find dimensions on Garmin's site for the transducer, and it wouldn't fit on my trolling motor, so I returned everything. They really need to let the buyer know you need an 80# or greater troller for the transducer needed w/ this unit.
