Replaced an old GPSMap 4208 with the GPSMap 943xsv on our sailboat, and the differences are stunning. The display, ease of use, available information, simplicity of upgrading software and charts with Active Captain, built in WiFi network, inclusion of ANT - and many other goodies. The internal GPS connects to many more satellites than my external GPS antenna does. While not exactly plug-and-play with my existing Garmin Marine network, installation wasn't too challenging. Just had to change a couple cables. It also worked with my current transducer, which is about 10 years old.Couple points of contention though. The 4208 had THREE network connections (ethernet) on it. The 943xsv has only one, which is head scratching, considering the 4208 is so much older. Because ... (Which I'm sure is why Garmin removed the ethernet connections.) Also, the 943xsv started up in Simulator Mode, and deactivating that is buried in a menu that, if unfamiliar with the newer software as I was, can be difficult to find.Very pleased with the purchase, especially considering I grabbed it on sale from WM for $300 less than what it's currently listed. Looking forward to many years of use.

Very easy to use, great unit
Perfect solution for transitioning from Raymarine chartplotter to Garmin.
Loving my GPS MAP 943XSV on my summit shuttle and bag. An amazing tool for ice fishing And open water. Looking forward to using this on my boat as well. I prefer the shuttle install as opposed to hard mounting to the boat because livescope is expensive and this allows me to utilize the system for ice fishing, boating, kayaking, and rafting. Love the screen mirroring to my phone option that this unit has.
I bought this for a 24' Deck boat that we use in thew San Diego area and the Colorado river. The GPS on the chartplotter is a little over kill for inland but it proved itself the first day. I went to Stick Figure concert by water at Rady Shell and when we left it was dark. The boat ramp is extremely hard to find at night and the bread crumb trail lead us right back with the channel markers noted. Then went to the Colorado river and it proved itself again due to the fact you can't see the sand bars at dusk and I made it back without polishing the prop on a sand bar. Also the water temp and depth/sonar has been a great asset as well. Still learning the Active Captain App but it has been user friendly so far.
Does more than most mariners need, easy to use, good maps with subscription to additional maps, syncs with my IPhone, integrated seamlessly with Garmin Radar and Mercury Vessel View 5 for engine data from twin engines.
Excellent wonderful product
I was so impressed with the Clarity of the Side Scan and Down Scan Images that I sold my Echomap Ultra Units and changed my Garmin Boat Network to ( 2 ) GPSMAP 943xsv, a 1243xsv, a 1242xs, all connected to a GMS10 Network Hub. I run two LIVESCOPE units, one from the Console and one from the Bow of my Boat.
Great compact unit. Easy to use, sharp crystal clear display in direct sunlight. Can be flush mounted in the dash.
