I have had a lot of Garmins including the Instinct, Venu 2, Indtinct 2, 955 Solar and Fenix. This blows all of them away. I have never wrote a review for any of the Garmin watches so this is my first. It is a Fenix 7x on steroids. It has a 34 day battery life. I took this off the charger over 12 hours ago and it just now went down 98 percent and that was after a gps activity. It is lighter than the Fenix 7x if you use the included nylon band. You also get an extra silicone band in the box and the flashlight is probably twice as bright as the Fenix 7x. For only $100 more than the Fenix 7x you get a brighter flashlight, 6 more days of battery life and an extra nylon band. It’s a no brainer. Overall I'm happy with the Instinct 2. I really like the looks and ruggedness of the watch as well as all the info that I can constantly have displayed including up-to-the-moment heart rate. My main frustration is that it won't track walking on a treadmill. From doing a search on the internet it seems that many people have this issue with Garmin's watches. Walking on a treadmill is my main type of exercise and I really wish it would work. I've tried using the "Walk" activity but that won't count distance because it is basing it on GPS apparently. My 920xt crapped out and this was on sale. I do like the watch...but it has so many features that I will never use. It came with out of date software, and getting the update required a 2 hour session with Garmin support. Once you have figured out the buttons, the watch works well. The booklet that comes with the watch has enough info to begin, but not enough to really get things set up. The online instructions are available, but I found them hard to navigate. Once the updated software was installed, the watch can be managed from your phone, which is neat and convenient. If you buy the watch from Garmin, make sure it comes with the correct, updated, software.

The GPS is a little off, about 2% longer than actual distance, which is similar to my smart phone GPS. But general civilian GPS is only supposed to be accurate up to 25-50' anyway. Interesting that it always gives a longer distance, though. Maybe this is done to think you are covering more distance and/or faster so you'll like the product.

Bought this watch primarily for tracking HR while mtn bike riding. I have had lots of trouble with the HR straps over the years. Garmin actually comped me a HRM-Pro Plus strap and that has worked well so far. The watch misses some peak HR efforts at times which is expected with wrist-based measurements. Otherwise very close stats to my Edge 830. I like the sleep tracking info. The workout suggestions are good and are based on my HRV and previous intensity minutes. The watch syncs with my trainer and controls the resistance/watts based on the prescribed workout. Nice long battery life and you don't have to press any buttons to see the watch face. Garmin customer service has been very good to me over the years.
