Spent a weekend reviewing various GPS devices to replace my less than 1 year old Mio C320 (avoid these like the plague) that had its battery die about 4 months after purchase. Went back and forth along the entire line of Garmin devices, and finally settled on this one for the blue tooth and traffic, neither of which I'll probably hardly ever use, but nice to have when I want them.I was disappointed with the map, the "new" 2009 one, because I have some streets in my neighborhood that have been around for over four years and they're not to be found on this unit. Even the piece of junk cheap Mio had these streets. But that's about the only downside there is to it, the only reason I haven't given it 5 stars.Having been used to the MIO, and the horrible refresh ... Even the piece of junk cheap Mio had these streets. But that's about the only downside there is to it, the only reason I haven't given it 5 stars.Having been used to the MIO, and the horrible refresh rate, it is a pleasant change to see smooth scrolling as my vehicle moves. The ability to change the car icon is nice, especially with the plethora of icons available on the garmin website.Accuracy is very good as well, and even in turns the unit isn't so laggy that it becomes annoying. And also unlike what I was used to with the MIO, when I come to a stop at the intersection, the map doesn't start rotating randomly on me.Speaker is about as I expected, won't hear much over a loud stereo but crank it up enough you can at least hear it if you keep the music down a bit.The option to easily download voices is also appreciated. It did well with my testing of going point to point, following the instructions, and for the most part you're given the instructions in plenty of time. only once or twice did it not tell me "turn right on such and such" until I was about 20 feet from the street, but that was when I was coming up on stop signs and had slowed down, so it may be compensating for the speed factor.Recalculation notice is a bit annoying, my MIO would say it once, sometimes this says it three times before it starts to display the alternate route.Still has about 900MB free on the internal memory for additional voices, icons, maps, and such, and with the SD slot there's plenty of room to grow.I have a Verizon XV6900 phone with Windows Mobile 6.1, and while the bluetooth paired well and it can see the phone status, battery power, signal, even dialed and missed call lists, it never does get the phonebook. it gets a random entry and that's it - so whenever I turn it on, I have just one user to select from, and it's different each time. Still haven't tracked that one down yet. But every other bluetooth option worked just fine.I'm not a fan of the very thick double power cable for it though, and it would be doubly annoying (no pun intended) if I were mounting this somewhere higher up on the window to have that double cable dangling down.I can see how the ads would get annoying sometimes (the free traffic is because it is advertising driven) but you don't get them at all if you turn off the traffic feature, and since most of my driving isn't around times that traffic is a concern, i can just leave it for when I really have a use for it.Good response to finger input, and while the unit is overall much better quality than the MIO, I really do miss the MIO's ability to have an info pane down the last third of the screen and the map on the first two thirds of it when desired. But there's some of that info available in the data bubbles on the bottom and top so I'll survive.Overall happy with the unit, it works well and was worth the cost.

We bought this for a trip to New Zealand. Overall, it preformed very well. Many of the smaller towns are not listed in it's program, but with some fooling around with a map and entering different names, we could always find our way to where we wanted to go. Also, many of the attractions, like certain waterfalls or beaches are not in it's memory, so a good guide books helps you to narrow down what you need to enter for directions. The driving instructions were very accurate for the most part. With it's pronunciation of the Maori place names it was very helpful to have a navigator running the GPS as you couldn't always understand a place name and had to look at the spelling. I have used better and worse GPS's, but for the money this is handy for travel to New Zealand. ... MoreWe bought this for a trip to New Zealand. Overall, it preformed very well. I love this Garmin Nuvi 206. I can finally find my way around!! I am horrible when it comes to finding my way any where without getting lost!! I've often made comments that I couldn't find my way out of a paper bag without directions!! I don't think I'm that bad...but with this Garmin I can go anywhere, I can visit my mom in GA, my sisters in VA, but closer to home I can finally go to church. I went to a church with neighbors a couple of times and both times they went a different way and when they couldn't go I couldn't either!! I plugged in the address and it took me right there!!! Soooo happy!!! The price was sooo affordable and it arrived quickly. And now I am stress free when I leave my home I know I'll be able to get where I'm going and back home again!!! The ... I purchased the Nuvi 265W as a replacement for my Nuvi 200 that was recently stolen. I liked my Nuvi 200, but wanted an upgrade. Well, I found it with the Nuvi 265W. Every day I am pleasantly suprised with the features and fucntionality of the Nuvi 265W. The GPS function will be familiar to anyone who has used a Garmin before. This model also includes the ecoRoute feature to help you find fuel efficient routes. Once you input the estimated mpg for your car and fuel cost, every destination point will also display an estimated fuel cost. When paired with a bluetooth compatible phone, the 265W makes a great alternative to a bluetooth headset. I have yet to use the traffic feature yet but, it has that too! To summarize, with this unit, you can pick a place to go, be given the most efficient route, avaoid traffic and have a phone number for your destination. There are plenty of other features too but these are the ones I find most useful. The Nuvi 265W is a great GPS and I'd reccommend it to anyone.
After reading previous reviews of this product I expected to be amazed with this GPS but I really wasn't. However, I will admit to being a bit finicky with electronic devices. After just a few weeks, I have already noticed a few map errors in my own town so it makes me wonder how accurate it would be elsewhere. A random request to have it take me from home to my daughter's daycare sent me a few blocks out of the way to the most traveled route, not the best and shorter route. Also had a few issues with the bluetooth speaker phone disconnecting when I pushed the answer button. On the plus side, it was easy as pie to connect to the bluetooth with my Verizon VX11000 and the automatic loading of my contacts is a cool feature. The display is easy to read whether in bright ... The display is easy to read whether in bright sunlight or dark of night. You can download different vehicles and character voices from the Garmin website. And this unit really is user friendly right from the box. The suction mount has held without letting go of my windshield, even in the extreme cold we have had recently. Even though it didn't meet my expectations, I am still quite satisified with this GPS and I think it's a great value at around $100. No regrets with this purchase.
I have a Garmin Nuvi 265w in one of our cars and bought a 2nd one for the other car. Love the 1st so 2nd should be just as good. This Garmin does everything we need a GPS to do. Clear turn by turn instructions. Very accurate directions. Easy to use. Always lets me know if I miss a turn and gets me back on the road. I never go on a trip without it. Keeps me from getting lost. Would buy again.
I had an older one, it was great. This other one has a little bit wider road maps and a little bit better. A picture of the building can be put next to the address that you are driving to. A better color background for the map. I ordered a second one from someone else at the same time I bought from this site. I hope it is the same enhanced one.
Good product- last 2 Garmins wore out. Would be better with the heads-up chime such as later Garmins have. This one's working so far, one cannot expect then to last indefinitely. Price was rightm so far so good.

I use it quite often, but there was one time where the addresses were out of date. I'm glad I was able to find some aftermarket parts to use on my road bike. I researched and researched before I purchased the nuvi, because I wanted the capability to use on a bike without spending 500.00 for the bike model. Stellar product. There could be a decent amount of improvements, but for the price you get what you pay for.
I initially had the Garmin 855, which I received as a gift from my mother. She bought it on 50% off discount, down to $100. It clunked out after 1 month (tops). I went to Wal-mart to get the money back and they issued me a gift card. I went online to Consumer Reports, Amazon.com (reviews) as well as a few other resources I use to read on other models and found this to have rated well, even amongst consumers. I went to Wal-mart.com and was able to get free shipping with this unit and it was marked down to $100, so ended up paying nothing for it (with my gift card). All this to say that Walmart's service has been impressive. The unit itself is compact enough where it's not too small to handle, but not too clunky where it's a distraction/hinderance. The screen size is perfect! The battery holds charge very well-perhaps because it doubles as a walking GPS and not just for the automobile. The volume is good, controls are easy to use and the maps are accurate (by my account of the DC/Baltimore areas and in-between). I have yet to find a con with the unit and suggest others look at this before resorting to the latest edition (higher model #) because it may not perform as well as this one. I must note that I have not utilized the bluetooth function at this point, but only because I have an earpiece unit and my car is equipped for bluetooth and it's unnecessary for me, but a good tool to have in the event that I have a rental and forgot to bring my earpiece but had my Garmin.
