This GPS was bought to replace/update an older Garmin RV GPS, and after using it on my recent 5K trip, I love the features that are in the newer units versus the older one like I had. The ability to customize the screen options was invaluable to me on this trip - it made using the GPS simple, and the large display made using it while going down the road super, super easy

This is our second RV890, this one installed in our class A next to the Passenger so they can easily assist in navigation. I only wish that there was an easier way to share a route other than to save, download to the Garmin Drive app and then upload through the Garmin Drive app to the second unit. Should be able to use Bluetooth like on the Zumo series for motorcycles. I’m probably unusual in that I have two, but if caravanning,, sharing routes more easily would be a plus. Don’t let that stop you though, this is the best on the market and comes with great maps that can be updated for life! The 890 is the perfect size

I ordered a refurbished Garmin RV 890 unit from Techno RV. It arrived sooner than expected and appears to be in perfect shape, with all of the accessories. I have updated the software and maps, along with entering vehicle and RV specifications. The unit has built in instructions for easy review and seems to be user friendly. We have not used it on the road yet, but do have an RV road trip coming up.We love the larger screen, easy to remove from magnet mount, and that it is designed for RV's.So far it seems to be great.

So far the 890 seems to be working as advertised. With one exception.Even though the 890 shows that the maps are up to date, it does not show some roadways in my area that I know exist and are RV friendly. These same roadways are present on Google maps and Waze.
This Garmin RV 890 (Refurbished) is in Brand New condition. I’ve done the updates and installed in RV. Purchased for our upcoming trip Eastern Ontario Canada to Yuma Arizona. I am positive that we will appreciate the features of RV 890 on this trip. Very happy with purchase.
My wife bought this as. A refurbished factory unit. At my request as Christmas gift. The unit is just like new and has no defects. I wanted this GPS as it has many features that extend beyond normal phone gps options. Very happy and saved $$$$$$$$$$
The unit is well made and robust. Searching is not intuitive and difficult to use even with Hemma and Camps additions. Searching may be easier in more dense areas, however in NT with the big distances it struggles to find accommodation and points of interest. Terminologies and processes not Australian. Overall it does operate well given the limitations of a relatively small market when compared to the US. Specifically the searching capability is OK when in an area, however when planning the unit needs to be directed to that area or general local prior to searching for camp grounds and POI's. Vehicle routing worked for a MH especially around weight restrictions. Indicated speed limits were not accurate. Need to watch the roadside street signs to confirm. Tripadviser ... I'm assuming the Garmin is supposed to have a battery backup but this one shuts itself off after about 20 seconds so it has to be plugged in at all times with the big baseplate which for car mode is very awkward. The issue with the battery should have been addressed during the refurbishment procedure also the saved locations were not deleted from the memory, don't feel much attention was implemented by technician.
Even though you take the time to shape a route, the Garmin RV 890 ignores your preferred route and sends you into congested areas and on roads with dangerous curves and intersections. Today we embarked on a 4500 mile RV trip and Garmin goes into the console after the first day. Knowing local traffic and roads, I plotted the exact route that I wanted. Garmin showed the correct route on the map but started giving me conflicting directions before I left the driveway. If you are willing to completely surrender your better judgment to a GPS device, then this might work for you. But I can’t blindly follow routes that I know from experience are longer and more congested.
I have been thinking about getting an RV GPS for a while. Up until now, we've used the app based maps from RV Trip Wizard and Roadtrippers. Both have been "fine" but we've been disappointed by unclear navigation directions, inability to search when offline, and having to dedicate a phone (that can only be seen by the driver). We have really been impressed with the Garmin. It has been easy to take our pre-planned routes from RV Trip Wizard and import them into the unit. We also have been impressed with the voice commands, they've been incredibly reliable and intuitive to use. The size of the screen makes it easy for both the driver and passenger to view the device.Like with any navigation/map software, I don't recommend trusting it blindly. So far we haven't been ... So far we haven't been led astray, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. My wife and I both have commented that we should have made this purchase earlier. We really thought we could get by with just the apps, but this makes a big difference in reducing travel anxiety.
