I bought this for my son’s birthday last year. Display is VERY dark, I can’t read it. We bought it in store but assistant wouldn’t take one out to show us and couldn’t show us a working one. He was also unable to tell us anything about it so all we had to go on was what we’d read on the website ourselves. If I’d seen the display I wouldn’t have purchased. Basic functions like an alarm have to be set up via app rather than on the watch. We’ve had issues with the actual device coming out of the strap which has made for some rather frantic searching in the grass at parks and in the classroom at school. The keeper on the strap broke early on and we’ve been using a rubber band. And now, one year after buying it, it’s stopped working. We’ve been very disappointed and we’re now researching alternatives for Christmas this year.

My two girls received this for Christmas. We like it but it does not allow for any independence. It requires an app and they do not have their own phones . It has one button on the side that can be difficult to navigate the screens and there is no touch screen feature. They can only update and complete the activities on my phone. I need to see if they can complete the activities on the computer. It is probably best for very young children.

Our son got this for Christmas and I'm pretty sure he has not taken it off since, except to get his replacement. He loves the step counter and the chores.Garmin Customer Service were awesome and arranged for a replacement unit (through Rebel) when the watch had a syncing issue that none of us could resolve.Cons:Watch band (holder) became loose and watch fell out a few times, we have since upgraded and the new watch band is much better. Watch is still loose around the wrist but does not fall off.Son checks steps against our watches on average 18 million times a day, including phone calls while we are at work.Infuriating that he now knows the accurate time, one more minute no longer means 1 - 45 minutes.Watch has a timer feature, when you say "I'll be five ... MoreOur son got this for Christmas and I'm pretty sure he has not taken it off since, except to get his replacement. So far, about a month in, we like this watch. For the price, it has great features. It is easy to use, and my kiddo likes seeing his steps and sleep. The one thing I dislike is that we have to manually since it fairly often. It doesn't always do it automatically (in fact most often we have to push the button). At first I didn't like the display, as it is quite dim, but I realized that is by design and it just takes a quick button push to brighten the screen. The timers, reminders, goals, chore settings are great, and I can track all of them right on my phone. Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase!
My 8 year old figured this thing out in 10 minutes (I had to read the manual). My 5 year old can navigate the main menu really easily but needs help with starting timers or the stopwatch. It's very kid friendly and the app is very parent friendly. I assigned chores for them to do everyday and they get such satisfaction hearing the coins make sounds when I check off the chore. I was afraid I'd have to sync the watch each time they completed a chore but since it's Bluetooth it syncs automatically when it's within range of my phone. Having the ability to create rewards tied to the chores is nice too. The fact that chores and rewards have prepopulated options and the ability to create your own is really nice too. My oldest has ADHD and has a hard time staying on track but she loves seeing her chores with how many she has completed and how many she has total. It has actually helped keep her more focused. Overall I'm very happy with this and my kids love it. It's nice that they can keep it on 24/7 without worrying about charging or getting wet is nice. After a year I'll have to change the battery but it's a really common button battery that I already have at home so it's no big deal. For this price buy it!
Purchased this as a Christmas gift for my 7 year old and it was a complete disappointment. Big packaging only to find some small device with a screen the size of a nickel. This might as well be a nano bot it was so small. Didn’t even bother giving it to my son. Strongly suggest people review the dimensions of this watch. Huge mistake on my part so I returned it.
My son got this for Christmas. Initially he was excited but only lasted about 2 days then never wore it again. Kept asking if it did anything else besides keeping steps. So the games are all on an app and not helpful for younger kids unless maybe if you have siblings. Ultimate he got another watch and returned this one. He wanted more features like games and could take images, video, and record his voice. That is what a 7 yr old boy wants.
Got this to replace my sons fitbit, sick of their battery issues. The vivofit jr 3 seemed perfect, games, 1 year battery with no charging, the ability to set tasks and chores for him. Got it in the mail today, very disappointed with the fact that the screen wont stay backlit. That’s probably the biggest drawback. The screen doesn’t appear to be touch screen, which is just awkward. I was also really disappointed with the photos of chemical type burns on children’s arms in the Amazon reviews from the band that comes with the tracker, thats one reason I cant stand Fitbit. So we had to order a whole new band for it. Overall I’m not impressed, time will tell whether I completely regret buying this or not.
This is the only gift my son wanted for his birthday, and he loves it—it has become his favorite and most used gift! He loves checking his steps throughout the day, trying to exceed previous day totals, looking at his sleeping patterns, and earning extra points for the two minute timed step period. His enthusiasm has motivated me to dig my old fit Versa watch out so I can challenge him on daily steps. His enthusiasm for gaining steps is with every penny. The price point and features of this watch are perfect for a ten year old!I did purchase a pack of 8 colored bands on Amazon so he can switch out his colors—he loves that, too...but mainly wears white.Lastly, I remember reading reviews about the screen being dark and difficult to read. There is a major flawed design with the vivofit jr. activity watches. We had no idea the whole watch hub/battery could be popped out of the band = basically losing the watch (because a band with no watch hub is useless). Our son was wearing his watch and when he went to take it off realized all he was wearing was the band. We were in shock. Not knowing when or where it popped out during the day makes it extremely difficult. We have searched high and low through our entire house, car and visited the stores where we ran errands to see if the watch component was turned in, which it wasn't. I feel like for 80 dollars this shouldn't happen so easily and should be more clear in the product imagery and descriptions. Extremely disappointed as he loved this watch and it only ... MoreThere is a major flawed design with the vivofit jr. activity watches.
