Love this product. Easy to use. Great coverage for grey hair. I did use 2 boxes for my long hair. Will never do salon again. I like the added oil for the coloring product and conditioner for after use. Leaves my hair silky smooth. Will definitely buy again I dye my hair exclusively with Garnier Nutrisse. I usually use the 400 Sweet Pecan but wanted a bit more red, so I went with 415 Soft Mahogany Brown. I think I was given an expired item. The color didn't dissolve into the solution and was clumpy. Didn't cover my gray as well as the other ones I used. But I do like the slight reddish color. All in all, I'd say 4 out of 5. If the box wasn't expired, I think it would have worked better.

I just used hair dye product recently. I choose Garnier product because of the high review and good price. I came with the thorough instruction, glove, and the easy dying bottle. It tooks about an hour for me to put all the solution on my hair. It has dying smell, like others brand names, of course, but I feel like the smell is lighter, I can tolerate it without having headache. The color is true to the description. I have Asian black hair, after dying, my hair turned medium brown as the description, the coverage is great. It so cheap to do it yourself in stead of spending hundred bucks in salon. Highly recommended.

I used henna on my hair for years but recently went to get the red toned down at the salon and ended up not liking it as much as I thought. I wanted to try a box dye for the first time to get a more natural reddish brown tone again and this worked really well, being way less time consuming and messy compared to henna. It doesn’t seem to dry out my hair too much, and was non-irritating. Also keeps a bit of dimensionality to my hair rather than making it look like a blob of colour over my whole head. I felt like I had to reapply if after maybe 4 and a half weeks so the longevity isn’t amazing, but you could probably get away without touching it up for longer (I just personally get really annoyed when I see my natural colour poking through). Hides root colour and potential greys well and doesn’t have as much of a terrible chemical smell as I hear other hair dyes have. Would buy again in a pinch!

Hair is yellow, not white
3 August 2024

My hair is naturally white grey in the front and blonde/brown/copper across the back and sides. I had my hair cut rather short a couple of days ago. I noticed the back was a bit darker with grey running through so I purchased a highlighting kit, L'Oreal Balyages. I used it on the back only, the deep purple mask, I used all over after washing the dye out. The mask turned my whole heard ORANGE! I tried using clarifying shampoo etc. Nothing worked so 48 hours later I purchased Garnier Ultra light platinum because it said it lifts up to 8 levels of pigment out of the hair. I left it on for the full 60 minutes, maximum recommended time, it is yellow. I really wanted my white grey back. :( I tried adding images before and after but was not successful at that either.

Just don’t

Former hairdresser, here. I purchased platinum P2 to test on virgin level 6 hair test on pre lightened hair. Basically, the amount of product provided is enough to saturate a buzz cut (< 1 in.) to about 6 inches of hair provided it isn't dense. It lightened the virgin hair by about 1/2 level (maybe) and did not appear to lighten the prelightened hair more than one half level. Processing time was exactly 30 minutes and solution was applied to clean, dry, unwashed hair absent of styling product. The product did not appear to damage either test in any way, although split ends were more prominent in the prelightened result. Post-treatment showed a more pronounced red tone than prior to treatment. It's my opinion this would be more well marketed as perhaps a temporary ... MoreFormer hairdresser, here. It's my opinion this would be more well marketed as perhaps a temporary hair color remover for level 10 hair that wishes to remove a party color. Because the amount of product is so low, should you choose to use a Garnier box color suggest: 1 full box for every 4-6 inches of hair growth from the scalp. I'd wanted to test this as I'm constantly looking for more cost-effective options for my own use but this failed miserably. Previous to this I'd enjoyed another lightening kit by a different brand and will probably stick to it.

Love the color!

I haven’t dyed my own hair in probably 15 years, I usually go to the salon but since this inflation I couldn’t afford to spend 100s of dollars. I bought 2 boxes because I have very long hair, almost to my hips it’s very layered though. I only used a little from the second box. Note: if you have very long hair you might need help because I missed a few spots in the back of my hair but it’s not too noticeable. Maybe because I’m not experienced lol. The color is beautiful! It looks great with my skin tone and brings out the green in my hazel eyes! The only problem I’ve had is, every time I wash my hair the dye bleeds out. I’ve washed it 3 times since I dyed my hair and I only wash my hair every 2to 3 days. The new formula is AWFUL!!!!!
7 May 2024

I have been using Garnier Nutrisse for many, many years and always thought it was amazing. I used to have beautiful, glossy hair and had many compliments. Then, just recently, they decided to change the formula to a vegan formula which is truly AWFUL! I am devastated! I have been crying a lot. My hair has gone from a lovely brown colour to a bright ginger red colour and friends are asking me why I dyed my hair red! I didn't! I'm just using the new formula as Garnier didn't give us any choice in the matter! My hair had gone from being glossy and lovely to dull, lifeless, dry and even sticky!!! I contacted the Garnier customer service chat and the lady said that they added clay to the formula which causes the hair to be dull, lifeless, dry and sticky! She admitted it! ... MoreI have been using Garnier Nutrisse for many, many years and always thought it was amazing. I used to have beautiful, glossy hair and had many compliments. And then she went on to suggest conditioners and products to by to help with the problems the new formula has caused! Needless to say, I was astounded and angry. Why on earth has Garnier done this?!!! Bring back the old formula and create a separate vegan range!!!! It doesn't even cover the greys anymore either!

I absolutely love this brand for coloring, this blue is my ride or die. I’ve seen other reviews dragging the product, so i want to put it out there that I’m a natural blonde and my hair did not hold any color until i bleached it. people who are putting this on virgin hair especially with darker natural hair should not expect it to look like the box, i recommend going with a 20-30 vol lightener and bleaching the roots before every redye. The color is my personal favorite, not too vibrant but a beautiful blue color in the sunlight and I do upkeep with my roots and redying it about every 6-8weeks. After sticking with this brand my hair has stayed healthy and soft and the hair mask tbh at comes with every kit is so revitalizing. unfortunately this was not at all violet or purple like the packaging clearly advertised. i bought two boxes because i have longer, thicker hair- and i really wish i didn't. i've never had trouble dyeing my hair and i've never, ever experienced getting a different color than promised. but this product is RED. and i mean, VERY RED. i'm sad, because ive had red hair for a while and specifically waited for all of the dye to run its course though my hair so i could go to purple. it's strange too, because this is the same dye my mother uses to get her hair a beautiful deep purple color- so i figured it would be the same, right? upon mixing the product, i noticed it had a very pink hue to it, and it confused me but as stated on the instructions, the color shown in the dye ... Moreunfortunately this was not at all violet or purple like the packaging clearly advertised. i bought two boxes because i have longer, thicker hair- and i really wish i didn't. i've never had trouble dyeing my hair and i've never, ever experienced getting a different color than promised. but this product is RED. and i mean, VERY RED. i'm sad, because ive had red hair for a while and specifically waited for all of the dye to run its course though my hair so i could go to purple. it's strange too, because this is the same dye my mother uses to get her hair a beautiful deep purple color- so i figured it would be the same, right? upon mixing the product, i noticed it had a very pink hue to it, and it confused me but as stated on the instructions, the color shown in the dye bottle is not the end result, so i kept going. as it developed, i noticed the familiar stain of crimson on my skin, and i knew then and there something was wrong: but at this point, half my head was already processing the dye, and i had to move forward.as i mixed my second bottle, biting the bullet, i realized this mixture was a DIFFERENT shade of pink! i triple checked the boxes and, yes they were the same color. intense violet V2. i grit my teeth and continued the dye process, knowing there was no point in stopping now.sitting with my fiancé as it processed, he ALSO noticed and proceeded to ask, "wasn't that supposed to be purple?" and of course, my disappointment was further pressed.now to the even more harrowing part:i rinsed my hair as i always do: cold cold water, as i learned after almost 8 years of dye experience. my hair started falling out. not ALL of it, and of course i'm used to a sizable clump of hair loss with every dye job i do, usually from overbrushing it combined with the simple nature of putting chemicals on hair, but this was way more than usual. i lost a solid amount of hair as i rinsed and combed the conditioning mask through. it honestly looked like id cleaned out a well loved hairbrush four or five times- i was a bit scared for my head's integrity post-shower.even still, i somehow had hope. even after examining the clumps of hair-bunnies in the shower that shone a familiar vermillion hue, i hoped that once it was fully dried things might change. but im sitting here writing this with cherry red hair, wishing i had bought a box of splat midnight amethyst instead (lol). all jokes and ranting aside, please read reviews and do your research before buying because apparently, stop signs are now purple.
