Trully appalling! We bought this in Hamilton because our old reliable Coleman stove had been returned from a loan without its special hose. It's hard to light, even with a flame. If it lights, initially, only about 1/8th of the burner has flame, which spreads around the ring gradually as it warms up. On frosty mornings at the Grampians, it wouldn't light at all till we discovered the trick of covering the air holes in the pipe to the burner and getting a yellow flame which warmed the burner enough to keep going as the air holes were gradually exposed. Very touchy to adjust and near impossible to get a slow simmer without it going out. I can see why it's lemon coloured.

I've been using this for about 6months now but very sparingly. This has to be one of the most frustrating thing I have ever used..! Controls, why do they exist? Answer, to be able to control your heating! Almost impossible to turn it on then staying on is another thing altogether! Then trying to control the gas heating is even harder! DO NOT BUY!!!

I bought the Coleman 2 burner classic stove (very similar) but after using for a few minutes the burners would get red hot and the gas would flutter and eventually go out. After it cooled, you could relight it but the same thing would happen. I then started looking at stoves in the $169 to $200 AUD range. They came with battery spark or high BTU burners and guaranteed to work in a cyclone. I stumbled across this little Gasmate at Bunnings. It was the same discounted price as the Coleman. After boiling a couple of pots of water, I am confident this simple stove will do me for many years. The flame can be turned right down to a simmer (something you read in reviews that the Coleman has trouble with low flames). The Gasmate is a sturdy little unit and the legs fold up ... MoreI bought the Coleman 2 burner classic stove (very similar) but after using for a few minutes the burners would get red hot and the gas would flutter and eventually go out. We bought this for an upcoming camping trip. It's a great little unit and we have owned an older version in years gone by. It worked great on testing and normally I would have rated 5 stars but for 2 things. 1) the 600mm hose to plug into the gas bottle is way too short to allow the gas bottle to sit under a table. 2) the 1.5m cable we bought looked the same fitting in the packet but was not compatible upon opening, despite being genuine Gasmate accessory. A minor inconvenience was having to buy a $6.65 adaptor to plug the short cable into our existing gas bottle (not a gasmate bottle). Tip - the short hose has an in-built regulator to plug directly into the gas bottle and adaptor so no need to buy a regulator too (which is for low flow bbqs not our high flow ... MoreWe bought this for an upcoming camping trip. I wanted a lightweight stove, with two burners and good high to simmer control, that was lightweight and I could easily use both inside and outside my campervan. This fitted the bill. And yes, a longer gas line upgrade is a must, if you want to have the gas bottle on the floor.Light but sturdy and really simple to use.I love to cook and didn't want to have to radically compromise my meal options, if I am on the road for months, due to the limitations of camping. The two burners means I can use a pot and frypan at once and it can even accomodate my wok, with the sides down.Personally I like that the propane containers are refillable, so I am not contributing masses of waste to the planet!I must thank Snowy's previous reviewers who helped me make my final purchase ... MoreI wanted a lightweight stove, with two burners and good high to simmer control, that was lightweight and I could easily use both inside and outside my campervan. This fitted the bill. The BTU at 10,000 per burner (2) is really up there (for a non high-output camping stove). It's simple, lightweight, easy to carry, easy to clean and easy to use. I like the adjustable flame (this function isn't always an option on other camping stoves). You can put down the wind breaks to fit larger pans and the 'Gasmate BBQ Plate - Double' is a great accessory for frying lots of things at once. The hose is really short, however (our cylinder has to sit on the table next to the stove). Also, check your fittings and give it a test run before setting off - we had to get an adapter (Gasmate Gas Cylinder Adapter 3/8"BSP LH to POL) for the hose to fit our refilled Beginnings gas cylinder. We were in hurry and so got this last minute from Bunnings, but Snowys sell them ... MoreThe BTU at 10,000 per burner (2) is really up there (for a non high-output camping stove). We were in hurry and so got this last minute from Bunnings, but Snowys sell them much cheaper (almost half the price!). I've knocked off one star because one of our burners has a dent and is a bit wonky, but it still works perfectly fine. I love how cheap, cheerful and powerful this burner is. For those of you that are considering butane gas stove - don't go there! You end up with loads of half empty butane cans cluttering up your life/the planet. It's not as cost effective either.
I bought the stove in December. Tried to get a longer house and a regulator that would allow me to properly connect it. Visited two different stores as well as a gasfitting store and eventually gave up. Even the staff at Bunnings told me that they had no idea why it had to be so complicated. I ended up purchasing the $19 little butane stove and that one worked just fine.
I only gave one star as you can’t give zero. What a rubbish product! It burns everything: food, pans and fingers. It’s got a single setting “fat too hot to cook with”. I’m going to ACCC about this unusable product. I rang Gasmate and they even said it’s no good! Do not buy this crap
Very, very poor design and quality. The trivet has to be removed every time you wish to fold up and close the stove!!! It then has to be attached underneath the stove. So you have to wait for it to cool down and dirty your hands touching the trivet - every time you use it! The base of the stove is open so the gas pipes are not protected when placed on the ground. The plastic clips on the base are weak and not suitable to hold up the stove. Weak plastic clip to keep the lid closed in transit. There is no carry handle. Complete waste of $80
Bought this 4 months ago and then 1 month ago.Iniitially the flame is very impressive, but seems to fade over time.Used strictly to instructions but first one lasted 1.5 8.5kg gas bottles, latest one only .5 8.5kg gas bottles before it is difficult to ignite.Noone else is relaying more than brief camping trip use online. So heads up.Generally gasmate products are good.Gas can stove lasted for ages.Would be terrible if wasting gas cans is a better option than this.Asking around those more knowledgable, so if I am wrong I will update.
