Good set of ratchets

Overall, this is a really great set of ratchets, it is a bit overpriced in my opinion, but compared to my Matco ratchets, still a tad cheaper. Which is why I bought these, I wanted a cheaper alternative in flex head variation, but didn't want to spend tool truck prices. The overall build of these ratchets are nice, they are comfortable in your hand, and I believe would make a good set of ratchets for the DIYer. Long term heavy usage in automotive environment, I couldn't advise on as I don't work full time, i just do projects at home. But I give it good overall rating, and the bonus tray keeps things organized in the tool box.

Both my brother and I have our dad these ratchets for Christmas. For years he used either Craftsman or Benchtop ratchets, but they all failed. Either they would seize up, or in the case of the Craftsman ratchet fall apart. The 90 tooth ratchets we got for him have a great smooth rotating action and a fantastic no slip grip. He uses them on more projects these days. Obviously time will truly tell the reliability, but from experience he's had with a set of GearWrench ratcheting box end wrenches he received years ago, we are confident these new ratchets will live up to the quality standard the company states.Highly recommend these for any mechanic, DIYer, shop worker or anyone that wants a great set of ratchets. Well worth the investment.

Awesome set of ratchets for the price and for the garage warrior. I purchased these for my pops who is 65 and has been using the classic Craftsman raised panel ratchets pretty much all his life. After him using my Snap-On set of comfort grip ratchets he tried to sneak them into his toolbox. As my pops is getting a little older I wanted him to have a decent ratchet with a comfort grip. My pops has been using these ratchets for a couple of months now and he can't stop raging over them. I chose these over the XP120 due to the full size pawl, and this was a great decision. I'm happy to see my pops use these and always thanks me for buying them for him each time he uses these ratchets.

Quality tools at a reasonable price
13 December 2020

I just started a job where I need to supply my own tools and have had the fortune of being able to borrow some of my co-workers tools. One co-worker has a Matco 3/8” drive locking flex head ratchet similar in design to these ratchets. I read reviews and price shopped and could not find a better value than the 3 piece GearWrench set. I have no regrets and use at least one of these ratchets every day. My only complaint is that the amount of resistance in the flex heads vary considerably in the set I received from one drive to another. The 1/2” is the loosest and the head falls with gravity as soon as the lock is disengaged where the 3/8“ requires some force to move when the lock is off. It’s not a deal breaker for me- but I like the tighter lockup of the 3/8”. Worth the price and you won't tear up your knuckles having these! Great ratchets.

Having a brother who is a diesel mechanic and listening to his suggestions on tools to have and make things easier, is a lot of help. Had a repair on my SUV and he suggested one of many and this tool was needed to get the part out. Instead of buying the BIG brand name, GearWrench is one he highly recommends due their reputation, warranty, quality and reliability. I recommend these to anyone that is looking for the exact tool(s). Each length has great leverage strength. It's an even better bargain since you're getting the three sizes. The handle is great even if you get it oily, still maintains its grip, wipe it off after the job is completed and you're ready to go again. Glad I was able to find this set and at a fantastic price.

Alright lets get down two it.! I’m going to be talking about the ¼ ratchets because it’s the one I used the most!! And to be honest I am completely impressed by it for one its size compared to the others ¼ ratches that I have its really slim and the length gives it that leverage being able to break free bolts with it is amazing some of my other ratchets I really to give it some “ummff” before I as able to break bolts free.!Now for the locking flex part I believe the locking part of the ratchets is a major bonus that I didn’t realizes it had. some of my other ratches that I had it would lose its angle before I had to take it out and readjust with locking part it’s a no brainer! And when I didn’t want it to lock, I would just not lock it.!The handle is surly ... MoreAlright lets get down two it.! Fantastic Ratchet Set. The quality is absolutely amazing. The 90 tooth ratchet mechanism is actually quite a great design. Along with the locking flex head which once locked stays completely secure till you unlock. Both the mechanism and the body are both well made and of a sturdy design. The handle is a nice comfortable grip and feels extremely well in the hands. I have had this for 5 days and already have put it to the test. Compared to Snap On ratchets I prefer the Gear wrench over Snap On! I highly recommend this product

A job where the locking angle flex head feature was crucial was removing an upstream oxygen sensor in a tight space between an exhaust manifold and firewall. I was able to use the 3/8" drive for this because of the long handle design. The locking flex head was able to support the weight of the heavy oxygen sensor socket where a regular flex head would flop around with the extra weight. The ratchet did not cut into my bare hand with the comfort style grip while putting on it all the force I had to break the rusty oxygen sensor free. The slight reduction in swing arc over Gearwrench's older style 84-tooth ratchets isn't as noticeable on standard length handle ratchets, but it is noticeable on long handle ratchets like these in a tight space such as between an engine ... MoreA job where the locking angle flex head feature was crucial was removing an upstream oxygen sensor in a tight space between an exhaust manifold and firewall. These have served me well so far on a few different projects and they seem to be durable enough for years of service in my DIY garage.

[Rewarded Review] Nice set of ratchets. Nice grips. Low Profile
25 December 2021

I never had a set of ratchets with grips. In the winter, it makes a lot of difference when my shop is not heated. The handles have a nice shape that conforms to your hands well. All the flex head handles lock. My 120xp flex head set does not do this and wish they did. Locking the head can help you set square while applying torque when in awkward positions. The heads of these are more low profile than the 120xp and more similar to the 84 tooth. This set is like a in between the 84 tooth and 120xp when comparing the ratcheting clicks. The 90 seemed like it had more pronounced clicks but that could be due to my others being well used. The lengths of the handles are long providing a good amount of leverage when disassembling. I do like my 120xp due to the fine clicks but the 90 seems like it will be stronger when applying the high torque applications. The lower profile head will make this my new go to ratchets. Heads can be disassembled to apply grease, clean up or has the ability to be rebuilt. This tool set should last a very long time. Can’t beat this quality for the price.

I chose to get this product because I do not have many soft grip ratchet options in my box. I am old school and work in tight spaces and most soft grips are so large they get in the way. That being said in the winter time in an unheated shop soft grip tools have a large advantage as you get older. I was pleasantly surprised by the fact that on my most used tools the 1/4 and 3/8 the soft grip was not much larger then the chrome ratchets I have 3/4 and inch on the 1/4 inch and just under an inch on the 3/8. The ratchet handles are on the long side giving you plenty of leverage and the head is on the smaller side fitting in tight areas. A lot of work now days can be done with a 1/4 drive anymore so we will start with that one. A lot of work now days can be done with a 1/4 drive anymore so we will start with that one. The handle is too long to be your only 1/4 drive so I would recommend something like my most used ratchet the Gearwrench 81025 to go with this set rounding it out to the only set most people would need before torq wrenches. The flex head on the Gearwrench is nice and solid and has an easy to use locking lever. The handle lengths are spaced out nicely stepping up to where after the 1/4 inch you can find something to fit into any area and if you have room for the 1/4 inch the leverage is nice making this most likely my new fav ratchet even over my Gearwrech 81025. The 3/8 ratchet will be my only one in the cart as if it will not fit I should be able to use the 1/4 drive this is the nicest 3/8 I have ever had while I am not one to have a toolbox queen the finish on these ratchets would fit in for someone who wants one. The 1/2 drive is just a bit longer then my fathers favorite apex ratchet making a replacement for this heirloom that can not be replaced. These ratchets come in a nice toolbox display that will be tossed by me as these will be living in a tool cart and take up less space but I can see a lot of people liking this. I honestly thought these were going to be winter use ratchets I am pleasantly surprised at the size and versatility and expect them to be full replacements for my cart.
