GearWrench 35720-06 20pce Metric/SAE Combination Ratcheting Wrench Set
The GEARWRENCH ratcheting combination wrenches are the original patented ratcheting wrench! The ratcheting box end is designed to need as little as 5° to move fasteners versus 30° for standard wrenches. The wrenches are made from strong alloy steel with a bright, full polish chrome finish. The ratcheting box end features off-corner loading for a better grip on the fastener and reduces fastener rounding. The stubby length allows greater access to tight areas.

Like most people, I owned a few wrenches that allowed me to do a few basic tasks around the home. Like most people as well, I also picked out the cheapest pack of wrenches whenever I went out to the store to grab that one wrench I needed for that one project. Without much thinking, I always assumed that this was the best approach, but unfortunately I was wrong. However, one day I received the GearWrench 20PC Combination Ratcheting Wrench Set as a gift, and I am so grateful that I did. These wrenches not only get all the jobs done, they also are much more affordable than just buying random kits trying to find the cheapest one. The quality is great and I never have to worry about the wrench slipping. I love the kit it comes in, and how it holds all the wrenches in ... MoreLike most people, I owned a few wrenches that allowed me to do a few basic tasks around the home. Overall, this kit is a great value and I love how it contains both measurement standards!

These are a must have for any household. I like to buy Craftsman because they have a lifetime guarantee. These are pretty durable, just like all Craftsman products. In my opinion, these are some of the best wrenches on the market and you don't have to worry about stripping bolts when using these. Also the grip is perfect with these as they have never made me slip like other wrenches have in the past. I've used other cheaper products and have been very disappointed in the grip and durability in them. I received these for a Christmas gift last year and they were the best gift I received that year. If you're looking for the perfect gift for a person that is hard to buy for, I suggest this Craftsman GearWrench set. You never go wrong when you buy a Craftsman. The only problem I have with Craftsman is that some of their products are being made cheaper, and some are no longer made in the U.S.A. I'm not sure if these were or not. However, they're not made cheap and are the best wrench set I own.

Bad Quality Control. I bought these thinking I was upgrading my current Kobalt ratcheting wrench from lowes but I was half right. KOBALT has a higher polish, centered ratchets, color coated with a strip, blue for metric and red for SAE, also an arrow to show which way the ratchet will turn. The ratchets are decent with little play and good teeth, consistent through all of them. Gearwrench is a toss up. In the set I got, there are three wrenches that I consider to be perfect, 12mm, 14mm, 9/16. The ratchets on these are centered, no play at all, with strong, fine teeth. These are clearly superior to the kobalt. But then I have three, 13mm, 16mm, 5/8, that are terrible. The ratchets are not centered, wobble to much play, rattle like a can, and the teeth are gritty and ... MoreBad Quality Control. I'm keeping my kobalt set and returning these. The kobalt have good QC and are consistent with one another and if I have problems, lowes is down the street. Also the gearwrench does not come with holders. Kobalt does. That's about $10 value

I have been using the GearWrench 20PC Combination Ratcheting Wrench Set for the longest and they haven't failed me yet. The best thing about these wrenches is that the ratchet side does a great job of not stripping bolts. On two occasions the bolt I was trying to loosen broke because the grip of the ratchet didn't waver under extreme pressure. The open end side of the wrench is decent, but I have experienced too much slippage when trying to loosen and tighten bolts. The main reason why I use these wrenches is because their excellent at getting in to tight spaces. I have been able to work in tight space and not have to worry about cutting my hands up or dropping a socket nut. My only complaint about this wrench set is that they didn't come with a case. It's not a big deal because I had a large tool box, but I would have liked to kept them separate. I would definitely recommend the GearWrench 20PC Combination Ratcheting Wrench Set because they are reliable and space conscious.
I have had this set for about 4 years and they still work just like the day they were purchased. The finish hasn't flaked or rubbed off, and none of the ratchets have had any issues. Honestly they work just as well as any of the way more expensive brands on the market. I would recommend these by far over any overpriced name brands.
These were on sale for $60. My last set of metric only gear wrenches "disappeared." This took the sting out of having to replace them with the bonus of getting the SAE wrenches too. Good quality.
These are not just regular wrenches. These wrenches also have a ratchet set on the other end. I love that they ratchet on top of being a wrench because it's like having two tools in one. They are a little more expensive than one or the other, but they are certainly worth it and more valuable in the end than buying both a wrench and ratchet set separately. Whenever my boyfriend and I are working on the car, I usually find that I end up needing both of these tools, so it's much more useful to have the multi tools available. These tools have several sizes available and range from 1/4 of an inch up to 3/4 of an inch. It has a wide variety of options available so it usually has a good fit whether it's in standard measurements or metric. I love this neat set. I keep a lock on mine just in case because I've had too many tools disappear. This is simply a wonderful set to own and use.
Unpacking was not as bad as other reviews made it out to be. A few minutes with a sharp utility knife and theyre out. Theres a post between each wrench that connects the top and bottom retaining clips, just slice the post and pull the end of the clip up to gain access the the next post. My set was obviously new, no issues with wrenches that appear used or badly dinged up as stated in some other reviews. A few knicks as is expected from packaging. Remember polished chrome shows every imperfection. Tested ratcheting function on all wrenches after unpacking, no issues. Smooth and gentle as they should be. Sprayed them down and cleaned them up with some silicone spray lube and they really sparkle. The chrome finish is a brilliant, deep chrome. They are beautiful. Hefty enough to be confident theyre durable and well built but not so heavy to be cumbersome. Used a few to replace an intake manifold soon after unpacking, they did the job well with no failures and a good feel. I really shopped around before selecting these and looked at a lot of reviews for these and comparable products, on and off Home Essentials Direct. I believe I made the right choice. Very pleased so far.
Update: I received a warranty replacement in a week after going online and filing a claim! I was using the ratchet end of the 1/2 inch wrench to snug some nuts on my son's new tool box in a tight corner. It seemed to be going well until I removed the wrench from the nut and I noticed the ratchet mechanism stayed on the nut. It just came apart. I thought these GEARWRENCH tools were supposed to be quality tools. Now I have to figure out how to get the wrench re[aced under. No companies near me carry GEARWRENCH tools.
Well the review still reign true. The chrome is fantastic looking, you won't find a high end brand with reverse for $60 let's be honest. The ratcheting mechanism felt nice on my set of ratchets and seems to work fine. Like others maybe 3/4 wrenches are off center with the ratchet end also likely why these aren't $170 like they charge for the just metric set with reverse. As for the packaging, let me save you some time get a set of side cutters, snip the large wrench side to starts holding tab then just work your way down the strip. I had my wrenches unboxed and on the rack I purchased in 5 mins. Right tool makes life easier don't use a knife unless you wanna cut yourself . If you want a perfect set that's flawless I say but the higher priced metric and sae sets, if you just want a set of ratchets to make some moderate jobs easier an faster these will suffice. Ill be returning my set as a few of my wrenches had offset ratchet mechanism I assume will fail and some binding. Gonna stick to the traditional no ratchet wrenches instead maybe get a higher end set down the road. Just wasnt for me. Last tip, when using a ratchet wrench should always have the corresponding non ratcheting wrench. So if your using a 18mm for undoing a nut bring a 18mmm non ratcheting wrench to break the bolt loose first to save yourself from breaking the ratcheting mechanism kinda common sense but from reviews I read obviously not.
