The nicely milled and cnc'd color-coded sockets are easy to identify, and have a good weight and quality to them. And the magnetic feature is nice to keep the plug from dropping into your oil (nothing worse than fishing for a plug in hot oil)! However, if you only work on one vehicle, or if you have very little clearance to get to the plug, your money would probably be better spent on a high-quality ratcheting wrench of the size you need.

Finally picked a set of these up and love them. If you do a lot of oil changes grab a set and don't look back. Only wish would be an optional extension and flex locking handle for those drain plugs with the odd angles.#sweepstakes

I use this set every day at work. I replaced the dog bone wrench I had with this set and it's much easier and quicker to use. Good marking on both the sockets and case. The color coding comes in handy as well. I have used this set for 5 months now. I wash them in a parts washer every week and they clean well and the finish has held strong.

I use this set professionally everyday. I am ASE certified, as a Maintenance and Light Repair Technician. I do oil changes, and 22 point inspections. This set makes oil changes quick and easy. I would recommend this to any pit tech. Or anyone who has multiple oil changes everyday. This set is sturdy, easy to use, and versitile.

The ratchet has a black plastic inlay on the handle but appears to be secure. I worried that it may be cheaply made but that is definitely not the case. The gears are smooth and the reverse lever is super easy to move with your thumb. It's not fine tooth but that is something I like because lower tooth count is stronger due to the larger teeth used in the gears. I believe this one is approx 36 tooth that does the job nicely. I like the 3/8" drive option for occasions when the pass through ratchet won't work requiring a regular ratchet with extension. I don't change oil every day but do end up with several per month so this set will definitely make the jobs easier. A very nice quality set for a reasonable price.Update - I added 2 items to make my set more versatile. A short pass through 3/8" extension and a 3/8" square drive ratchet converter adapter with quick release. Both accessories were under $7 on sale. I found after using this set that I often needed more knuckle clearance between the drain plug and ratchet.
If you change your own oil, this will make it a lot easier. The sockets are well made and fit a standard 3/8 drive as well as the proprietary gear wrench ratchet which may allow the use of the sockets in some situations. After loosening the drain plug the knurled collar makes it easy to remove by hand even with rubber gloves and the strong magnet keeps the plug from falling into the mess of used oil. The gasket may not be as well behaved, and there is still a chance some oil will run down your arm to the elbow, but those things can occur in any case. The rounded spline that fits into the ratchet is a good grip point after the plug is about half way loose; with fingers below the collar some of the initial oil surge will be deflected by the collar.
Seems to be a really nice set at a excellent price. I have only tried to use it once on a Pontiac Sunfire. Well the oil pan is to close to a brace and I was unable to use this tool on the oil plug. It was to thick and hit the other side. So out came my gearwrench. Hope to use it soon on my Jeep Wrangler and Fiat 500.
Seems to he good quality. Ratchet works well, as expected from gearwrench. Just wish the sockets were longer in length. That's my only complaint.
Just received today. All of the sockets are very shallow-about 1/4" deep. I have NEVER seen an oil plug without the ends of the plug a little rounded. These sockets will NOT grip a real tight plug. They will just round them off and then you are really in a pickle. I am going to use a regular socket to free the plug then use these to take them out the rest of the way. I like the magnetic feature so you don't get hot oil on your hands.
Works too good. Lol. Magnet works better than expected. Almost a pain when you are trying to figure out size cause they all get magnetic to bolt. I really enjoy though.
