My love of GHD stylers has been unwavering for more than 2 decades, now. I always had the standard size plates no matter what my hair style or length, but, I decided to have a cheeky affair with the GHD mini styler for my shoulder length hair and I am loving it sick! It feels lighter to hold, it creates tighter curls, making your hair appear longer and it knows its way around a fringe!! I highly recommend people give it a go.

I asked for my ghd straighteners as a birthday present. That was back in 2007. So I have had the same pair for 15 years now!!! No I don't use them every day, but they've never missed a beat. They heat up super fast and glide through my fine hair, usually I only have to iron each section once to finish straightening, no faffing around going over bits again and again. They are super hot but don't damage my hair. They've been worth every single penny and more. I don't know if I would ever use another brand of straighteners now and while they're still going strong, it'll be a very sad day when they eventually give up the ghost!

This is the newer version of the GHD Gold in the Wide Plate. The plate is 2" wide, compared to the 1" for all of the other irons. The heat is set at 185 degrees, and there are two sensors (one in each plate) to help keep the temperature consistent. I don't think that this is a better alternative for people with thicker hair/longer hair as the heat is not as consistent as the Platinum+ version. You are better off obtaining an iron with temperature settings for people with thicker/longer hair than to use this and take larger sections. See my other reviews for the GHD irons!

As with the other GHD products which lack the ‘Ultra-Zone Technology’ I find these slightly worse off for it. Again, it kind of depends on what you’re looking for though. These are a less extreme straighten and will require maybe two strokes for perfect flatness. With one swipe, you’ll get a natural straight look, similar to someone who has straight hair without the use of a flat iron.Like the other GHD products they are also good quality, with great safety features and guarantees on a long life, as well as being talked up by celebrities and stylists alike. It somewhat comes down to personal preference and I still think that it’s worth the extra $50 to get the Platinum Plus (my personal favourite out of all the straighteners I tried), but this does a great straighten too, especially when compared to cheap brands or even mid-range ones.I personally prefer a different design, I find the shiny parts make it look cheaper, but I’ve always been a matte fan. I do like the gold plates a lot and these glide comfortably like GHD always does. These plates are more of a chunky thickness, meaning you can do more hair in one go, so a good choice for those with really thick hair, or just a lot of hair.I have a tendency to pinch my finger in the hinge at the end of this, so I do prefer the wishbone design offered by platinum plus, as well as the press button. This one has a slide button that I think looks cheap and flimsy, especially given the luxury price tag and reputation of the brand.Overall, it’s another great straightener from GHD for those who want a natural straighten on their thick hair, but if you have an extra $50, I still fully recommend the GHD Platinum Plus line over this!
After my second GHD Platinum died (For the 2nd time in 1.5 years) I knew I didn't want to spend money on another Platinum, and to be honest I wasn't sure if I wanted a GHD at all, but I'm glad I took this chance. The V Gold is hands down the BEST styler I've ever had. I used to roll my eyes when people said a good hair straightener makes a world of difference to the health of your hair and the quality of the style. I honestly assumed they were all the same, but I was so wrong! The V Gold is so gentle with my hair, it doesn't feel like it dries out or damages my hair the way others have in the past. More than this, straightening or curling my hair has become so easy, and less time consuming. More than this, straightening or curling my hair has become so easy, and less time consuming. When I was failing to curl my hair nicely using the Platinum, I just assumed I was bad at curling my hair and no matter how many tutorial videos I watched, I couldn't perfect curling my hair with a straightener. But I use the exact same techniques with the V Gold and now my curls turn out perfectly, and they even last for a couple of days. I honestly thought it was me being bad at curling my hair, but it turns out it was the styler all along. If I could recommend any styler, it would be this one - there's less heat damage, it's much easier to use, it's faster to achieve the style you want, the finished styles are of a higher quality, and curls last longer! Highly recommended!
I have been using the GHD Mini Hair Straightener for a couple of months now. They are very easy to use which is important as I suffer with arthritis in both hands, wrists, elbows and shoulders so my mobility is impaired. As the straighteners have a 360degree swivel cord, I am able to do my own hair. They are so quick to heat up and smooth on hair. Don't be fooled into thinking mini means tiny, they are just as good on longer hair if you need a more lightweight product than the full size, they are just so much more manageable. Brilliant for anyone who is perhaps a first time purchaser or is new to hair straightening.
I'm turning 50 this year and had long hair until I was 48. Up until that point, I never did anything with my hair, never styled it, had no idea how. When I had it cut to shoulder length, we were still in partial lock down so I bought straighteners and curlers and practiced and learnt how to style it. I have the Platinum straightener and I do think it moves more smoothly over my hair but I needed this thinner one as my hair is now a little shorter. I like to create curl with it and it really does work well. It's worth the investment but I'd be curious to know if the technology was the same as the Platinum one or not.
I bought my new slimline GHDs 2 months ago after having my hair cut short. My regular width GHDs were a wee bit wide fir the intricate areas but the smaller set do a perfect job. They are so versatile! I love them! My bigger set will be fine for when I decide to grow my hair longer again but it’s good to know that I own the tools to complete the job well, regardless of my current hairstyle.
After 13 years, my previous GHD straightener stopped working, so I decided to replace it with the same make. I am disappointed with this new replacement. It definitely doesn’t feel the quality of my previous one, and it also doesn’t seem to get to the same temperature. It pulls the hair in my fringe, and even though I’ve got short hair I have to go over it twice. I am going to take it to my hairdresser the next time I have it cut, to see what she thinks. My previous model also came with a lovely heatproof bag, this one only comes with a hard plastic cover to protect the end of the straighteners. Don’t feel that these are now worth the money.
I decided to opt for these because my normal sized ones were unnecessary for my very fine, fly away ear length hair (basically rubbish hair that bigger straighteners pull at). These are brilliant for me, spot on for my fringe.I'd recommend them for hair like mine and would buy these again, unless my hair maginally grows again after my awful hair loss (after years of curly long hair) specialists can't help me, so these do the trick to help me out and make me feel better about how it looks.Small issues, the open close hinge at the end can occasionally catch the skin on your hand and pinches. Easy to watch out for that though, probably the way I hold them. Try again and it comes on. Very odd. I wonder if anyone else has had that issue?I'd still buy them again and already recommend them to my friends!! Really pleased with my choice.
