Not gonna lie, this is my first Voxbox. I knew I was getting a hair straightener but since it was free I thought it wouldn’t be good as a Chi. Well , I was SO wrong! Usually when I flat iron my hair I put some serum for the heat protectant and because my hair is thick and wavy (damaged from bleach) so, I said I’m going to try this without the serum so I can do an honest review it was before work getting my daughter ready for daycare, I put my hair in pigtails and I started on one side at maximum heat after only letting it heat up about 3 minutes. I swear I’m selling all of my chi”s and other hair straighteners on marketplace and I will buy this brand only for ever now. Don’t think just because I got it free I’m blowing it up get one and you’ll see for yourself! It’s worth the money if we spend $100+ on a hair dryer, we can spend a little more to see our hair the way we have always pictured it but it was never as straight as it could be. This is definitely made for ALL hair types curly, wavy, extremely curly, straight gets even straighter, frizzy, thick , thin, color damaged! Get this iron you will not be disappointed it’s my off day I been in bed all day I’ll take some pictures of it in a little while after I do my hair, it’s even in the “Allure hall of fame”!!!

To give the ghd Platinum + Styler a fair shot, I did my normal routine when I decide to flat iron my hair. It’s usually because I washed my hair the night before and was too tired to blow it out which happens. 😂 I used a detangling spray on my damp hair after washing and let it air dry. I slept with my air dried hair up in a loose top knot. For reference, my hair is at about a 2c, is thick stubborn and very prone to frizz. It’s also color treated all over along with balayage highlights. There was no sizzle and smoke coming out of my hair so it was incredibly gentle in heat but took only two passes to achieve the results I wanted. The hair straighteners that I’ve used in the past took higher heat and more passes to get my hair straight which I know definitely causes major damage in my already vulnerable color treated hair. It took me about 25 mins to finish my entire head of hair when I normally take about 30-40 mins with other flat irons which was a very pleasant surprise. I am sadly disappointed in this straighter as you can't adjust the heat setting and the temperature "adjusts to your hair." My hair is very fine, thin and curly and I am not impressed. It does not leave my hair straight compared to a less expensive straightener & sadly the straightener's plates catch my hair and pulls my hair out & gets stuck in the plates. The straightener has damaged my ends and pulls out hair constantly. The plus and cord are long and heavy and clunky. Not to mention, the sound when you turn on the straighter is so loud and you can't mute the sound or sound level. If I could give this product a zero rating, I would. It doesn't work for me who has super fined thin hair & it's not worth the cost to ruin my hair. I would defiantly not recommend this hair straightener to others.
These are my second pair of platinum+ GHDs. They’re far superior to any other straighteners I’ve tried. They replaced my three year old platinum+ straighteners which were still working but were nowhere near as effective anymore. The one thing both my old and new pairs have in common is that they both have two little grooves at the bottom of the plates which seem to catch my hair. Just the odd strand every few strokes, but on most occasions when I use these, I end up with a bit of hair that gets stuck and breaks off or is pulled out from the root.
